Thanks mate, I had the exact thing happen on the drivers side, a month or so after using your video to fix my moosing. I've now used this one to change the mechanism.
I've done one of these on a 1.8 mk3 Mondeo. £25 instead of £300. About 3.5 hours it took me. £100/h for my efforts. Excellent instructions available online. My mechanic skills are zero. No special tools needed. Cable snapped at -10C when it was all frozen. TAPE UP THE GLASS AS RECOMMENDED! My glass got jammed at an angle, thought it was game over. Mondeo mk3s are so ace I upgraded to a really fast mk3
2:15 Once or twice I've had alloys wheels or brake discs bond to the hub. The way I freed them, after much swearing and kicking, was to put the road wheel back on, back off each wheel nut by 1/2 turn, drive at about 5mph (backwards for the rears) then stamp on the brakes or yank the handbrake. Worked a treat !
Had this issue on my 220 as well. I got to taking the door card off and ran out of talent, local Ford specialist was kind to me and did it for peanuts. Good job on it!
Thanks Martin, my mk3 window sometimes works and then stops. Watching your vid has given me the confidence to have a look myself. You explained it in a much better way than any haynes manual does. Top job mate. Martin H.
It sure is nice having a proper trim removal kit. Saves wear and tear on delicate fittings. Replacing window regulators is never easy as I have learned from the experience of holding on to many autos for way too long. Good quality painter's tape sure is a big help in holding the glass upright. Nice job!
Hi Martin, ive just changed the drivers side window winder (cost £26 off ebay, no motor) used your video to remove and refit it, Thanks Martin. The motor came off the faulty winder (broken cable) with three screws, and fitted onto new unit ok. (Be carefull when you cut the cable tie off the new unit, that you dont let the blue/yellow sprocket come out, carefully slide the motor in, aligning the kogs, and do up the three bolts). Then refit as per your video. It took ages to scrape/ pull the black sticky stuff off the door, Try to keep it on the foam if you can (but scrape off metal work instead), be patient and take your time and the foam comes off in one bit, after you have removed the speaker, plastic bit by speaker and the R/A metal bracket that screws to the door.
Driver side regulator failed. Garage quoted me £400 + VAT for genuine Ford part. 04 Mondeo Ghia. Do I need a special one as I have auto close windows. Found a replacement for £240 with 2 year warranty brand new. As usual very educational video Martin
Another great video, I’ve learned how to do lots of jobs to my Mk3 mondeo thanks to your channel and saved lots of money too as you give me the confidence to tackle the jobs myself, I’m going to have a look at the rear washer this weekend thanks to your previous video on how to fix that. Keep up the awesome content!!!
@Terry Winter I wouldn't say ther were dangerous as they have to be safe to pass safety regs and large companies wouldn't make them if they were not safe. You should have put at the end of that statement "just my opinion" bud.
@Terry Winter Terry bud, I know the way things are going. I don't agree with any of it but I don't really want to discuss that sort of stuff in a comments section with people I don't really know. As far as the low profile tyres goes, Thanks for your comments on them.
There’s a saying relating to what FORD stands for Found On Rubbish Dump. Relates to the lack of build quality and always having to repair or replace something on them our Aussie banter 😂Still a great video showing how to work on Ford ST220.
Great video Martin. That was a spot of luck garry having a spare window mechanism. Weather didn't look to bad there.its been nice here in Scotland the past few days .
Thanks a lot for the video. Do you think it's easy to change the motor to a new one that comes without it? that is obviously much cheaper. Thank you so much
I have same problem on driver side front and rear. How do I attach motor if its only the regulator that needs replacing? Great video as always and I dropped that piece of plastic as well! The cost of a genuine ford item is off the wall.
Replaced the wifes cars drivers window regulator recently to Martin fairly straight forward good job. Bit of advice grease the regulator wheels and cable up next time where possible helps not to stress the old cables and motor not having to work to hard.
Martin Door windows can be a tricky job has no room to get in if you have big hands what is your daily driver I thought this was it wondered why the battery was so flat I could watch your these videos all day great to watch thank you for all of them mate Phil in stoke
Fantastic looking car the Mk3 Mondeo. I'd have to have the hatch and the estate though, as they both look good... and the saloon, to have the full set. Then you'd also need a Mk1 Focus to compliment it, also having the saloon, hatch & estate.
Well that was a fivers worth of juice gone just moving the car 🤣Good job you had the spare mechanism I replaced the cable only on one of these years ago and it was a right pain
These are set to rise in value but the biggest and most expensive problem to sort is the dreaded rot (besides the engines) so if I was you I'd get under it and check the common rot areas such as rear wheel arches, chassis members etc
@@retrorestore its having the time lol, I'm going to change the waterpump because I've not got a clue the last time itbwas changed and it does seem to be coming from near there and only leaks when its running. As for the wheels theyre buckled pretty bad lol
Why is it that nails and screws only seem to find their way into tyres that still have loads of tread on them? This happened to my car within two weeks of changing my front tyres and also to the wife's car after only 2 months!
Am sure you took the door card off , on the estate you had for some reason might if been door motor ? I've took one off on a mk 1 and replaced the same as you have done ,alas i do recall scraping of my wrists lol
Another top job mate. This is apparently another weak point on the Mk3 Mondeo. I must've been lucky as i haven't had to replace any of mine in the 9 years i've owned it. Sods law, says i've just shot myself in the foot by saying that.🤣
So you don't have a I'll sort junk yard in your area? In my city in the U.S. we have a car parts junk yard. You ask if they have any cars of a make you need, then go look for what you need. You take it off the car, and then pay the guy, much cheaper, and possibly quicker than internet sale.🙂
There is a malfunction on my mk3 mondeo that has been bothering me for a while. The interior lights suddenly broke down. I changed the small fuse in the fuse box but it didn't work. the lamps are not broken. The fuse box is not broken. elecrick flow seems normal. No mechanic could fix it. if anyone knows the answer please help :(((
Vw passat are bustards to do, that was a nice easy one , Good old Gary , I bet you feel guilty now grassing him up to Sharon regarding pushing the mower through the house Mart
Thankyou so much spent hours trying to sort this problem out and then looked on your channel 5 mins to fix god bless you sir😊
Great video, nice and clear instructions, from the KING OF YOU TUBE..lol
I love these repair videos Martin, educational and entertaining. Looking forward to seeing the next instalment. 😀
Thanks mate, I had the exact thing happen on the drivers side, a month or so after using your video to fix my moosing. I've now used this one to change the mechanism.
Thank you, my friend, tomorrow I'll start repairing my mechanism, but I bought a repair kit 🤗

Good fix Mr B and a free one too.. love a free fix.
Makes a change to get something from Project Man for free lol
I bought an offbrand without motor for €47 i changed it and it worked, your video helped alot so i didnt had to reinvent the wheel thanks!
Gary comes up trumps again with his job lots nice 1
Well done I’ve done a few window regulators in my time and some of them can be tricky. You made it look easy 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Thank you Martin I appreciate your car repairs I am watching from South Africa

Lovely Jubbly Martin! Jobs inside doors are usually a proper pain!
The way you film and explain your videos is second to none mate. Love it 👍

Good job.Looks like a common problem on mondeo.hope you are all well all the best

Great work again.
Thank you! Cheers!
Well done Martin did one in a golf pain in the arse 😁😁
Nice one Martin, stroke of luck having the part there.👍👍
Learnt my lesson with cheap led bulbs. Its horrible having to gamble on the dearer ones but ive always found dearer ones problem free.
Great job. Thanks
Another good video mate had to do a few of them widows mechanisms

@Terry Winter Just your opinion though that sounds more like poor alloy wheel design rather than tyres in my opinion.
@Terry Winter I don't recall anybody ever successfully sueing a tyre company for low profile tyres damage.

Yes it was handy and the weather's been great here today too.
