You make car repairs look so easy Alan, which they're NOT ! That's the sign of a true PROFFESIONAL 👍 👌
Thanks 👍jerry,🤣
You may be surprised how much it is worth with the crazy second hand car prices at the moment. Great to see it back on the road and not written off. Thanks Alan. :-)
cheers st200
Another top video with the perfect balance of technical, tips, good angles and humour

thanks mike
Hi Alan, great to hear someone taking re The Reset before it's common knowledge. Appreciate your candid videos on everything including the above 👍
thanks Tony
@@alan4x your not asleep like so many about the reset nice one.
Nice one Alan, that 15mm bolt on the shocker totally beat me on my connect, brilliant video as always.👍👍
those bolts can be a nightmare, cheers Charlie
I do wish I was closer to you I would then believe I could get my car properly fixed whatever happened to it.
thanks 😊
Thanks Alan, been watching for ages and appreciate all your videos, and your approach to the jobs and life in general . Oh and the WEF references 😊 and thanks to Monee too 👍. All best wishes. PS, haven’t owned a Ford since 1993, and that was a mk2 Escort lol
thank you very much Tim, very kind of you, have a good one😊
Another blinding vid as always Alan! Tidy little repair.
Have to say that the mk3 really has aged well. It's a handsome brute IMHO.
thanks flyingElk
Hi Alan, another nice job to keep that Mk3 on the road !
Always like the video's Alan, as theyre ded interesting, youre a top bloke and really clever when it comes to fixing cars!
thanks Stephen😁
Hi Alan .Great work Really enjoyed that video 📹 Hope you are well 😀
Thanks 👍Finn
I'm glad you put that door trim on at the end it was annoying me lol . Great video again Alan and good work 👌
lmao, thanks R Mc
Was not expecting the first 2 minutes of that agenda you was referring to regarding build back better and wef/who 😄. So glad your aware of whats going on and hopefully the viewers are to. Brilliant vid. Keep em coming......
ohh I could go on for hours about what's going on in the world but I won't lol, cheers daveast
It is in surprising good condition for aa 2006. I still have my 2005 estate 2L Durtec. I did the springs using two set of spring compressors. Hard work too. The front springs went in year 6 and 7 . Rubbish metal but OK since. I have had it since it was one year old. Chinese tyres what a great price. Great video I love Mk 3s
thanks for your comment finglesham😊
Alan, I'd love a "I started by doing this.." Video. I bet it would be one of the best YT videos ever.
As always a great informative video
cheers Ian
Great video, very helpful, thanks
cheers pete
Thankyou Allen 👍
cheers andrew
Great Video Alan, You must be listening to Classic FM like me.
lol, i do like the oldies music channels
Great video again Alan, fast moving and very informative. Please keep them coming, although appreciate filming must be a pain when you want to crack on.
Thanks Alan
cheers Alan
What a nice job you’ve done too!!!
Thank you! 😊mark
A little bit of Monika in our life... she is so sweet.
😊
I’ve gone from hating Mondeo’s to absolutely loving them
And I’m really glad that this mk3 even though it’s an automatic it gets another chance
Thank you for saving this poor sole
Great job Alan 🚗🚗🔧🔧👍👍
Thanks 👍Brian
Good job Alan 👍👌👏
cheers joe
Hi Alan,
I like your attention to detail when you film, similar as in old Wheeler Dealers and Edd China RUclips channel.
You're doing as good job making videoes as repairing cars 👍
I wonder if you ever guys replace steering fluid on taxis, or would you mind going over the procedure in future video?
Take care.
thanks Bartosz, all the mk5 mondeos are electric steering with no fluid, the mk4 mondeos have oil but I never changed it unless replacing a rack, then you drain the fluid from the steering rack union and refill afterwards
I really enjoyed this video I used to have 2 of them as taxis good work horses
😁
Nice 1 Alan another one back on the road only thing that was pretty expensive was the paint
yeah had to pay the bodyshop to spray the wing, cheers Steven
The intro's always remind me of certain VHS videos my older brothers had hidden from our parents 🤣🤣🤣
Any chance of tracking lines flickering up the screen for nostalgia 👍
Loving the videos, I see Steve's Taxis and the Heritage fleet every day living in Huntingdon.
I hired one a few years back, I'll be honest and tell you...I had a brand new car and didn't want to do tip runs in it, but I cleaned it well before return 👍
Charlie
lmao, nice one, cheers charlie
Seen a heritage rental MK3 running about in Scarborough all the way up here . Made my day 🤣
lmao, cheers jack
Thanks for taking my advise on the 'mask' sign back up at sales Alan 😂 absolute legend 🙌
lmao, that was a great idea you gave me, thanks 😁
I love the Borderlands mask on the thumbnail and the metal gear solid sounds. Cracks me up everytime 😂😂. I wonder how many people recognise that noise. You should edit a big exclamation mark over your head, that would make it perfect.
metal gear solid was one of my fav games back in the day, cheers 😁
I do like your humour and laugh. From tearing down the mask notice to the Luckyland gallop. It cheered me up 👍
lol, cheers lee
I wonder why Ford in their wisdom put the rear arm bolt in from the top as fiestas etc all go in upwards. Good video Alan . It beggars belief the long winded things you have to do on some cars/vans just to accomplish an easy task.👍🏴
yeah it is a ba idea, someone ill know the answer, cheers Andy
well done Alan not easy
cheers mick
Great to see the car repaired and back on the road rather than scrapped
thanks Tony
I'm kinda surprised that you didn't fit the wishbone bolt in the other way around to save yourself some time if you ever have to remove it again in the future.
Was never a fan of the mk3 Mondeo, they used to break front springs and seize up the rear calipers for fun!!
Great vid as usual Alan 😉👍
If you put it the other way round and the nut came loose the bolt could drop out leaving you in deep shit at 70 mph that's why the bolts 🔩 are put in that way just saying from North of Newcastle 👍
@@brianhume4743 I'm well aware of that Brian, but a drop of loctite on the threads for a little extra security or a shiny new locknut, and the chance of it coming undone is virtually nill.Loads of cars have them with the nut on top and they never fall out.
years ago I did used to do just that buts its a pain to cut the bolt so I thought for once in my life I would do the job properly lol, cheers Andy
Cracking, Alan. Like a previous comment, wish I was nearer to you. 😂👌🥇
thank you Fabshop 63😁
That's brilliant Alan. Thanks for another Mk3 video. Quick question - how does the paint shop match the shade on the new wing so well? I'd have thought the paint on the rest of the car would be faded after 16 years? Cheers. Vivian
they have color cards, probably 15 variations of that particular blue and match the cards to the old wing then mix the paint up, cheers Vivian
Good video.
Thanks😊
Th great reset is coming. Am on road trip 18th Aug onwards so hopefully will drop in and see you on Fri 19th Aug.
sounds good, thanks Chris
well done mate
cheers Joseph
Hi Alan, just wondering fitting some rear shocks (oem) to a mk5 (65) mondeo estate
Can they be fitting wrong way?
As in sloping bottom lugs... Does in make a difference ?
Many Thannks
For your help Dean.
i never fitted shocks to an estate but i don't think they would have any particular way round to fit them, maybe just fit the sloping lover bush to the slope of the car arm they fit to
Does the new door have a higher spec chrome trime and a up rated Sony 8"×6" speaker? And no grey plastic strip and I know know it had electric windows all round. I bet its almost tempting to swap all the doors.
yes the new door was off a Ghia, cheers Chris
Good job! Perhaps a wider camera lens would make sense for those kind of shots. Sometimes it's very hard to see e.g. here the entire side of the car or underneath shots. There are also cheap (used) android phones with wide angle cameras (e.g. from Motorola)
thanks for the tip ben
Nice video mate. Keep up the good work. You have knwoledge skill and charisma. Anyway....I'm working as a taxi driver in Romania. I want to move somewhere else. My first options are Sweeden ,or UK. Do you need taxi drivers there cause i would gladly like to join?
there are plenty of taxi driver jobs here..problem is the local council getting people through the test..they are so slow
@@alan4x Same old birocracy everywhere. Thank's for the reply. Have a good one mate.
see alloy arrived nice fit
yes thats the only one i could find, think they are off a transit connect
Great job Alen thanks for the tip and tricks to remove soon of the parts. But you shood wear safty glass under cars your eyes are so important.
yeah I know, cheers Eric
Yeah it must catch some people out that with some cars the doors are the same but not the hinges ☹️
That's a solid job. I'm actually surprised about the price. That's very reasonable. I mean I'd be happy if I'd get that repair bill after such damage even though car is old.
What did you replace the old Vito van with in the end..great video as usual Alan...
nothing yet, just using company cars at the moment, cheers tony
Brilliant !
lol, thanks graham
Allen
Great job do mate how hard do you think it would be to do same job on your driveway with your own tools has some guys but right offs and repair and sell cars on to make good profits love the video
Phil in stoke
its never easy on a driveway with no ramp but like everything you find a way to get the jobs done with trolley jacks and axle stands, cheers philip
Did ya buy the MK3 back off the insurance, will it get a new alloy at some stage?
got the new alloy, not sure its gone through the insurance
Stupid question but does anyone know if I would have to get the gear ratios changed on my 2012 diesel mondeo to tow a caravan?
@P Mc he only wanted a bit of advice🤔, 🤣🤣, but you do have a great sence of humour🤣🤣🇬🇧🇬🇧
Bloody hell Alan. A BRAND new wing and professional RESPRAY on an old Shitter like that !!!! Does your boss have the " loony tunes" ringtone on his phone ? A good second hand wing and a few rattle cans would have saved him a fortune 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
thanks jerry, we just like spending money lol
Good old hammer adjustment tool 😁
lol, cheers Chris
Still got loads of problems on me mk4 Alan mate P003A(17) not a clue
Alan you’re as mad as a box of frogs 🐸 But make absolutely fantastic video on fixing mondingo 🤣
lmao, thanks Stevie
Shock absorber?? Damper Alan, damper!😀
You are correct damper is the proper name the spring actually absorbs the shock
Nah, Alan's cars have Greek suspension. Shocker Zorba's
lmao🤣
Another job well done by Alan & his hammer 🔨🛠🤣👌👍
lol, cheers Darren
Rattle gun and a whacking big hammer. I've got one of them it's called "Murphy". Another educational vid.😂
lmao, cheers William
We need more Monika!
🤣
Had a mk3 st if only you were close lol had to scrap it in the end
🤣
My mate has a 2.2tdci sport on a 06 plate. Still drives like brand new. Was chipped up by the previous owner. Goes like a rocket🚀😁, & still looks a smart car😎😁😁🇬🇧🇬🇧
The knee joints connected to the........😂🤓🤸😷🤪
🤣
Best philosophy you have. Its an economic repair, and you have the skill to do it. You do seem to get all the dirty jobs though 🤔 Must complain to the boss 😉
lmao, cheers Paul
i don't know Granville gone into that sort of business i take it he didn't want to run his uncle shop any more so thats why Arkwright shop is closed down now !!!!!! 😂😂🤣🤣 get it !!!
So really if someone done it themselves on a budget, would cost about £350 if you just wanted it road worthy and drivable.
Thanks for the upload.
yes that's it, not too bad a price, cheers 😊
not bad ,i think go back to mk3 ghia 😁😁😁
10:40 If i dont member wrong we just cut the head off that bolt and install the new bolt otherway around. Buten again i don even remember when was the last time we needed to change that lower arm. Cheers!
lol, yes, we used to do that years ago
Better than turning it into bean cans but £1200 is a fair amount of money considering you used a door you already had.
mind you nearly half was labour so if your doing a job like thet yourself it would be much cheaper
Mmmmm monika in pigtails, does it get any better ❤️
That underbody corrosion is horrendous!
I remember having "Windforce" chinese tyres on my Mondeo, fuck me it was frightening to drive with them on. Grip? What grip...
lmao, ditch finders
@@alan4x Lol I nearly did 😆
The acting is like a Morecombe and Wise play lol 😆 .
cheers Stephen
👍
😁
I bet if I go into a tyre garage and ask for a set of lucky land happy gallops I will be sent to the people with white coats !
lmao🤣
build it back better nice one
With a rental car, "you'll own nothing, and be happy"
Very good video as ever
That's why the rich are happy, they don't officially own anything and try their best to get others to pay for them.
@@marklittler784 we don't own things they own us. Think how worried people are about their house and there car ! I really enjoyed having a banger for a car that was almost worthless I could leave it anywhere and it didn't worry me at all. And not owning a has means I could live anywhere at the drop of a hat.
@@marklittler784 Clause shwarb is that you ?
@@chrishart8548 Your own home is better than free living it's not subject to capital gains tax and goes up in price faster than your paying for it and first £150 rent from rooms a week is tax free and you can still clear off anytime anywhere
@@chrishart8548 Yeah cars are so well made nowadays who needs a new one anyway remember buying a car 9 months old with 9000 on the clock for £9000 off
the great reset 👍😂
I already own nothing I'm ahead of the game. Prepare to lose all your stuff people
🤣
Hey Alan what's this for a Mask?
it'd the ps4 game..borderlands
@@alan4x thank's 🤩
Honest car gets at couple of years more on the roads. Nice, both for the wallet and the environment.
thanks Rune
Dejavu. Blue to Red. Mk5 to mk3
😁
That hub should have been replaced after a clump like that..how do you know its not bent or cracked?...you didnt do a full alignment check?.Putting tyres made of banana skins on a rental car just seems crazy.
the hub is fine, good road test, that was the spare wheel..if had bothered to watch the video you would have seen a new alloy wheel and tyre fitted to the osf
That alloy could probably be refurbed
hmm, cheaper to by a used one
@@alan4x tbh yes but not seen many of those alloys on a mondeo
@@Aidan-LM02 I don't think they are Mondeo wheels, pretty sure they are from a transit connect
Dear all, can someone here finally tell me where is the blinker relay for left and right turn signal in Mondeo mk3. I started to become mad, if someone knows, please tell me.
i think its in the indicator stalk behind the steering column cowling
@@alan4x I change already with 2 stalk. Same issues. I will use Forscan tomorrow to see if I see where is the problem.

Mr Yankee doodle dandy was splashing the cash wasn't he,a 16 year old hire car.
Should used old wing off the scrap car
it was damaged otherwise i would have
Why don't you use cordless tools they are so much better than air tools
yeah I know lol
Yeah so would have saved a bomb with a wing the same colour obviously if it wasn't a rental patience is a virtue.
😊
On such an old car especially with it being a rental wouldn’t it have been wise to change the shock absorber on the other side of the car aswell? It’s going to end up very imbalanced for the cars handling with a new shocker one side and an old probably very worn shocker on the opposite side.
the shock the other side would have to be in a very bad state for it to be badly imbalanced, although tyre companies like quick fit would tell you different so they can sell more parts
nyahahaha, hey how are you?
hi aloha, nice to hear from you, yes doing ok thanks, hope all is good with you, stay blessed
Have Mk3 Mondeo's suddenly become valuable or something, Ha Ha ?
the price of used cars have risen to stupid levels at the moment so worth hanging on to or selling for a good price
@@alan4x yeah and with the electric car thing going on, cant see used prices dropping anytime soon as most sensible people will hang onto half decent petrols and diesels
@@lucindafergusonart I don't think that going electric is the future🤔. I do think Ice will be around for a lot of years to come🤗. 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Accident damaged car's are never the same as before pre crash I wouldn't even bother in one
they are usually cheaper to buy if your on a budget lol
Bloody Ford. Vectra C, you don't need to drop the subframe to change the arms. If you do drop the frame to do a clutch etc it doesn't require alignment, the chassis isn't covered in rust, petrol 164,000 the rings aren't shot.
had that in stock but that was caused by the fork lift so not part of the accident, did not put that on the insurance claim, well spotted, cheers roy
