    I live in Canada and this guy's advice is spot on. For long term exposure, like snow shoeing or skiing, the easiest tip is don't leave home without drinking 500mL of water! You also need some carbs if you are out for more than 1 hour. Am not a big fan of Goretex in the winter but cutting the wind is very important in winter. The zipper in the arm pit has a very important function of keeping condensate low and really does make a difference as does pure wool. You can still wear a helmet by blocking the holes with foam padding or tape and then putting it over your toque.
    An easy way to make your expensive wool socks last longer and stay clean is to never walk in them. As soon as you take your boots off, put on slippers or remove the socks and put on another pair. If you find you always feel cold, take a deep breath and relax as much as possible, so as to reduce the vasoconstriction and allow the blood to flow to the finger tips and toes. Vasoconstriction is normal but you can train your body to minimize it once you become accustomed to it.

    It is a long time since I have knitted my own socks now, but I remember that for one of the last pairs I knitted, I used two types of yarn. One type that was 100% wool, and a thinner one that was synthetic. This was to make them stronger, since you easily get holes in wool socks. So start knitting your own socks, guys - with double yarn :-)

      Hi, No we didn't.
      from where yoy got this news 😅, we keep uploading vlogs of our adventurers and gear review and tips in our channel. The last video we have uploaded was around 2 weeks ago. We will always upload vlogs also don't worry. But vlogs takes time to edit. We are 2 person and don't have so much resources. Review videos are a important part of our channel same as vlogs.But be sure our video never will stop 😊

    Great info Peyman. This is a very similar approach to what I use although the brand names are different. It’s -19C here this morning and I hope to get out for a ride this afternoon after work finishes.

    How do you manage to make food, use phone/computer, etc. when using winter gloves while camping? I can barely even manage a spoon so I take them off and then my hands get cold

    • @Stariana19
      @Stariana19 2 года назад +1

      Perhaps use thinner merino wool gloves at base camp and use thicker gloves when riding or layer them both and then at camp remove the thicker warmer bulkier gloves or mittens and still wear the thinner merino wool gloves. They also make gloves that have a mitten attached to the gloves and can be opened and closed with a button. I'd also wouldn't use any man-made fibers. I'd use pure sheep's wool or a wool blended with angora rabbit wool. Angora rabbit wool is 8 times warmer than sheep's wool.

    Can you please provide a list of the gear you mention? Specifically trying to find the hard shell pants but can't find them.

    Hi, found this channel yesterday. Great episodes. I mostly just commute to work by bike, so I usually don't really need to dress too complicated, but sometimes also here in southern Finland, it can get pretty cold, so one can't completely ignore layering up. Don't really like using hard shell ski pants though, at least if the material doesn't stretch enough.

    I like leg warmers made from poly thermo fleece . They take up no room in your pack. they reach from your ankle to your upper thigh. They come in different warmth levels. I like the Aerotech brand leg warmers. When it is nasty cold day I also have knicker wool knee high footless socks with a stirrup that goes around your foot. I have recently discovered warm socks made from alpaca wool as well as a alpaca stocking cap . I like a removeable inner mitten inside my outer shell mitten. I can remove the inner mitten to dry it and carry a second dry pair of inner mitts in my pack or pocket.

    Didn't you feel sad to leave your paradise in the Gambia behind? Will you return someday?
    Som people travel for a very long time and when they want to stay and live somewhere, they can't because of restlessness. Are you afraid of that?

    • @NomadsTrails
      @NomadsTrails  2 года назад +1

      Insted of thinking about what I left behind I would like to focus on what an amazing places I am going to see when I am cycling. Also it makes me happy I leave the place nicer than when I got it ( at least I hope I did )
      I am not afraid of that. I don't see it a problem if I want to be a nomad. For me every thing in life is not a issue. I enjoy of adventures, so that is what I do 😊. If one day I want to stay in one place, I will.

    You only want to wear 2 layers of socks if you have a room in your boots.. Have to have room for air in order to stay warm.
