I'm leaving the military in the next few years, however I'm... lets say... a little older than your usual apprentice. I work in IT but I'm being drawn to retraining as an electrician, the only things putting me off is my age and the relatively low income from being an apprentice/training electrician, then the worry of finding a placement/job afterwards. Not sure I'd be able to support my family whilst training.
I've seen Jordans Videos for such a long time and I got to say his a phenomenal person, absolutely phenomenal. Jordan if your hiring any more apprentices please let me know! Regardless of the wage I'd just love to work with your team. I have Electrical level 2 Diploma and I'm currently doing Level 3 Privately. Whilst also working 2 years with another electrician. But I'd like to move on to working with yourself just knowing how regulated you are with your work👀🙇🏻♂️ Would be a dream come true. But yeah! Other than that your a total Champ!

Great video, nice positive impact. Electric van question with regard to a fleet. To any employers or anyone with an opinion really. With diesel/petrol it's quite easy for companies to pay for the fuel of fleet vehicles. If staff go to electric, which I'm all for, how will this be arranged. Assuming people park their vans at home, would they charge them off their electricity? Could this be accurately subsidised? Then how easy would this be for book keeping/accounting??
I can't understand why vans have such a limited range TBH, I understand that batteries are heavy, so would eat into the payload, but I suspect that most vans never have that much weight on board. It would make sense to be able to get a van that has enough battery power to not only travel some distance, but also provide a useful power supply on site, as an example, running power tools or providing lighting. Offer the specs that can fit different needs, vans just lend themselves to being that versatile because of their size.
I currently have a full time job and really want to do some sort of electrician’s course - not thinking of a career change or anything but just to broaden my knowledge and I find it interesting… I may change career tho. Any tips on any good courses or where to find them?
I would of killed for a mentor like Jordan. I had a difficult time in my career qualified through a online course. worked my way up to AP for Microsoft all of a sudden shitting myself switching ludicrous gear. Lucky for me I've retired at 40,moved to Portugal and mess around with crypto.

They pretend all abspestos is ‘surveyed’ but trust me lad, any building older than 1998 and 100% they never find it all, and every time you drill into a new build, you breathing something considered way worse. Silicon dust. Again bullshit about masks never happens (money rules ya see) and that’s just the actual buildings we work in lol. There is a reason it’s ‘highly paid’ it’s a dangerous job even for the best of us

However, will not pay more than many Stem majors from top universities in mathematics, electrical engineering, Finance, medicine, dentistry etc or top MBA in private equity, some areas of investment banking, asset management, big law, big Finance etc. Plus far less physical stress, need for equipment, van etc. This is not to take away from one profession over another. All profession will have Pro and cons. Electrician is back bone to any major nation and can provide good middle class salary. Also many electricians are very smart and could easily have gone to a good University if they took that route.

I've found in my experience going through life having worked with numerous electricians. If you take a big job, say 1000 sparks, perhaps 30 of these would be competent in all electrical fields, control, automation, motors, design, panel building etc. Most of them very limited, bit of trunking, tray, pulling cables, general services and its worse the newer generation are getting. All the gear in hand and very little to apply it.
I think what you said about expanding your knowledge is a bit of misinformation at least for my experience, level 3 qualified and struggling to find work, no one wants to hire you unless you have experience but no one wants to give you that experience its catch 22. Every time I go for interviews they are impressed with my knowledge and passion but no one gives me a chance the last person said I was too qualified I'd already done everything he could teach me, then told me he just hired a level 1 apprentice and proceeded to say he wasn't all there in the head and fresh out of college with no life skills - just makes me think I dodged a bullet there but then I'm thinking, well people must just be hiring apprentices so that they can get the funding then whining about them being useless and not bothering to teach them, adult learners don't get that funding they have the life skills and experience to want to learn and be pro active, just getting fed up with the way things are atm. RANT OVER :D

Artisan means a worker in a skilled trade mate. So I'd imagine it's probably a play on the word artisan and electrics so their skilled in electrics.
