  • Hi Guys, I thought I would do a little video today on a rather popular spot in Elite Dangerous called the Jamerson Crash Site. The crash site is the last location of a pivotal NPC in the ED Universe. This is one of the most efficient ways to farm encoded materials in the game, within 10-20 mins you can actually completely max out your supplies here at which point you can move to a material trader and trade down for whatever you need. I've given in this video a brief rundown of the location and explained what you'll need to do and how to reset the location. The closest Encoded Material Trader from this location is in the Diaguandri system at Ray Gateway approximately 93.27 Ly away (About 2 jumps).
NOTE: FDev have confirmed that this is not an exploit and is a legitimate farming strategy.
If you like my video's please like and subscribe, it really helps me out in creating more content and honestly, it's good for my mental health lol.

This was extremely helpful as it's the first guide I've seen to mention that we should go to the material trader after maxing out the Adaptive Encryptors. Most guides just say 'Go to the crash site, scan, and relog until you get everything'. Thank you so much for making this.

Thankfully this doesn't have to be 'grinded' so much now. The devs made the thingies you can scan 5 times as much. What I mean is those comms are all over the place now.
Actually when I did grind it though, I'd pick up the gold and palladium canisters, lol!
Used the other canisters as target practice. As a new player myself, I recommend practicing switching the controls. Get familiar with it.
To find out the lore, scan the computer thingy on the ship itself. Notice at 2:50 that grey diamond on the back of the ship? Scan that. Sorry Blackwood, I spoiled it. :P

Sigh.. yet another Commander doing this the slow and hard way!
You don't need to land. You don't need an SRV. All the scanning can be done from a (preferably small - a Sidewinder is ideal) ship hovering about 10-15m above the site. Just position your ship nose-down above the spot shown in this video and scan from there, rotating your ship around to target each comms control in turn.

No, but you want to do such grind in Solo, or you would need to share materials with other players. Also there could be issue to relog to make materials to respawn.

If you watch the video, I actually give out the planets location within the first 21 seconds but I can understand how you may have missed that. Having said that if you're asking for specific coordinates on surface, you're welcome to look it up as I don't generally use a mod for surface coords. I gave the planet because I assume that people would scan the planet with becons or look for locations of interest. But... since you asked so nicely... I'll post them in just a moment for you.
As for who he is, there's a great wiki devoted to the npc and Inara also has a good deal of info as well.
