UFC President Dana White confirmed that longtime MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has been banned from receiving press credentials after breaking the news on two huge fights without contacting the promotion beforehand. "As long as I'm here," Ariel Helwani's ban will last. Ariel Helwani, one of the most connected MMA insiders, covers the sport for SB Nation's MMAFighting.com. He initially broke Brock Lesnar's return at UFC 200 and Conor McGregor's rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 202. Angered over the news leaking, UFC officials kicked Helwani and colleagues Esther Lin and E. Casey Leydon out of the arena at Saturday's UFC 199 pay-per-view. #DanaWhite #ArielHelwani

So that justifies deceiving and manipulative behavior, on top of sacrificing a relationship w the CEO of the UFC for one solitary early headline?
Dana White personally asked Ariel not to reveal Brock as the headliner main event at UFC 100, yet Ariel chose to release the info before the UFC could reveal it in the planned way they had scheduled w promotion and advertising. He literally cut out the feet from the CEO of the UFC after essentially being begged not to and offered the inside scoop on any other future event or fight/fighter... under the BS guise of "journalistic integrity" STFU, Ariel... you weren't saving lives or helping anyone but yourself by releasing the info early! How incredibly short-sighted and regrettable. Ariel is a snake in the grass, so naturally shallow ppl think he's the savior of MMA media. "Deceiving, self-serving, and cleverly manipulative" where have those traits been recently attributed to in society? Almost like it's not a race or religion, as most who claim it don't practice religion of any kind outside of materialism... its almost like it's just a mentality, attitude, and entitlement that substantiated them as a community. Much like democrats often see similar perspective, as do conservatives... as does this community. They all defend for one another and create narratives sympathetic to their perspectives. They are just more selfish... if your parents are self-absorbed, entitled, and manipulative... what is the likelihood that you inherit many of those traits as well?

Funny how 1 Sided these always are. Always leave out Ariel wormily trying to start beef with fighters then acting innocent dozens of times, challenging Ali the manager to a fight, then coming to his last ever ufc event he attended with a personal security and made sure to leave the press room before ali showed up long before and never went back.
Or maybe about how Ariel has covered for the PFLs terrible business choices and the way they are dealing with legends such as Moussasi and Cyborg forcing them to sit out or retire because "their contract is too expensive".

He does not have to notify the UFC, this is irrelevant. A journalist gets information, confirms it and releases it. He doesn't have to "check" with the promoter first to make sure it's "ok". He doesn't work for them.
His ESPN contract did expire, but you present it without context. ESPN wanted him to come back and sign a new employment contract. He declined and went independent with MMAFighting, BT Sports, Ringer, HBO Real sports/etc...

Dana with his dictatorial desire for control and certainty.i can understand his outrage over Ariel bootlegging some of his biggest promos and stealing his thunder ,sparking his fury. However it also shows Ariel's influence in being able to penetrate the UFC inner sanctum at the highest levels to glean such info.
