    • @nonya1366
      @nonya1366 11 месяцев назад +126

      Flak armor is designed to survive even if the wearer doesn't
      In dark heresy and certain other fantasy flight gamelines of 40k,a full suit of flak armor is the best bet you have for survivability for a fair bit, unless you happen to be:
      A space marine
      A sister of battle [Doesn't get a helmet, good luck on that headshot.]
      A scion.
      A Ogyrn.
      Everyone else-
      (Arbites who haven't received carapace yet, guardsmen too poor of a regiment to get flak, scribes, assassins, a adepta soroita famulouss and hospitaller, cleric, psyker, scum, tech priest [till they get steroids and augmentations, thent hey go toe to toe wtih space marines] and Most cultists.

      @@nonya1366 Flak armor is designed to save the wearer. It's the only thing cheaper than a Guardsman, after all.

    • @nonya1366
      @nonya1366 11 месяцев назад +25

      @@midgetydeath The short reply is this: Human lives are worth far less then flak.
      The longer answer is:
      The standard set of flak armor, given to the average guardsman, that is to say: A FULL. SET. OF GUARD FLAK ARMOUR. Is the best set of armor you can ask for without getting into carapace.
      It costs a fair bit, it's scarcity outside of guardsmen regiments is there too.
      The rambling answer is:
      Actually it can do quite a bit of both, for example the flak is designed to survive high explosive shells landing on them- Artillery wise, so the armor itself would survive being shell'd
      The occupant? Not so much. It's done that way specifically because while it isn't *invulerable* it is highly protective.
      For what it actually is, a generalized infantry armor for a wide selection on the cheap, the armor is effective. And to a certain extent, it'll survive some of the more destructive forces.
      However, it will not protect the wearer against similar forces, as the flak armor is designed to be dragged off the corpse after such an explosion, and given to a new body.
      But. Against lasguns, stub rounds, shotguns, certain type of grenade, flechette, and mundane weapons, it's favored quite highly. and even human chainswords and chain axes, it's half effective. Against a human opponent using the generalized equipment, it is the perfect armor system.
      Against specialist weapons, including Specifically Anti Armor rounds, a heavy stubber, a boltgun of any variety, plasma gun, etc. You die. But even if the occupant violently explodes from a bolt round to the gut, gets penetrated several dozen times by a heavy stubber, or get lit on fire or exploded by artillery rounds, it will survive.
      Thus the statement:
      That flak armor is designed to survive, even if the wearer doesn't.
      As well as
      "Your ***Best Bet for survivability***"
      Unless you happen to be favored by the imperium enough to get power armor, or mutant abhuman, or both.

    So as a fun fact, the Ultramarines used to be known as the *Warborn*, and devised their strict regimental structures to keep individual legionaries from running off trying to be Malum Caedo. This originally was their flaw, not that they were a very average legion, but that they were one of the most aggressive and war hungry legions around.
    The Black Templar should have been a UM successor chapter, not IF.

    • @SWProductions100

    In Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay they are probably the most powerful greater daemon, they can reroll any check, are immune to critical fails and have insanely powerful spells, which they always succeed at casting because of those rerolls. The fact that when your start a new file you see a little screen on the side that says "Sternguard Veteran" makes me think they will be adding new characters later. I could see like a Phobos Raven guard who gets a cloak and pistols, a Blood Angel Sanguinary Guard that gets a jetpack a flamer, and early access to the Melta. Maybe a Gravis armor Fist who moves slower but has even more insane weapons.

    The dash does a little bit of damage, enough to kill the weaker enemies, in groups even. It becomes really handy if you get swarmed by, say, Nurglings and you can pull off some decent combos with it and the chainsword.
    Plus you can use it to clear big platforming gaps by jumping at the end of the dash for lots of speed & air.

    The sword mostly just became a movement tool later on for me, since you can pull a full 90 degree turn in midair with it, provided you have something soft and squishy to sink it into that'll (hopefully) die quick. Biggest complaints are that the dash doesn't always work well (if at all), almost no damage feedback when you take damage, some enemies feel entirely too tanky for their size/role (lesser plague toads) but that might just be a me problem.
    I haven't played since they supposedly fixed the feedback issue, but I kinda wish the dash was like a Doom Eternal or Ultrakill dash in whatever direction you want with no wind-up.
