Been using the MOXF 8 and its sounds are terrific. Played the MOTIF XF 8 and it's great. Awesome sounds, great keybed. Love this presenter, he could sell snow in Alaska.
GAWD! So many damn features to this thing, it almost makes my head explode! I checked the price tag, expensive machine, but if one had the cabbage, this thing could be a very good investment indeed!
smorenburg is the best demo man inEurope he has this enthusiasm and he is funny too he knows to explaine use of a yamaha keyboard and get you run to the store :)) motif is a great keyboard the big keyboard player in the world use yamaha motif , so kkep on smorgenburg you are the best!!!!
@prince4d you can find a reasonably priced XS on EBay that would be about 90% of the XF functionality... That's what I did... the entire Motif line is exceptional!!!!
@TomZentra hey thanks...I'm not sure how they allocate the polyphony..however my softpiano(pianoteq) easily hits 80 to 120 poly all by itself..& Im only using a 61 key controller..!
@prince4d Agree. A question is troubling me though... Why should I get this and not the old Roland G? ... and is it worth to go straight into the new XF models or just wait for a price cut on the discontinued XS?
@elsalvi430 If you can't afford both workstations, then wait until the end of the summer. By then Kronos bug reports will be available and users will have reported any design shortcomings. Or get the XF now and buy the Kronos in a year or so.
im trying to decide between the XF8 or the Korg Kronos... i love Xf8 quality nd ive been a yamaha die hard fan but the Kronos has revolutionized the workstation nd has a good synthesizther(i think i spelled it wrong:P)...so i feel stuck, HELP!!
Sir can u make a Video on how to Create Layering sounds in Performance mode like 4 to 8 different instrument on every slider...Example 1st slider is Piano 2nd EP 3rd Strings 4th Pads..... pls make a Video Tutorial sir
@2002race ...Sure!... 'til the XF get to the market this same week...... meanwhile stores will be trying to sell as many XS's as they can at $3500 before the price goes down $1,000 US and start losing money with too many boards on stock.........

@ j-n-h-m
the mofx is a slimmed down version of the xf
Yes of course. Your DAW can record any type of audio coming into the audio inputs of your soundcard (via quarter inch cables).

Bert Smorenburg, always entertaining. Great keyboard!
XF8 + HS10W + HS80M = perfection

They've Definitely improved on the piano sound...
I think I would be interestd in the XF8..though I would have thot the polyphony would be greater than 128.
Can I load in a GM midi file - and edit the song? Take one bar of music - and detune it? remove one note from a chord? etc:
Hands up for the E.T soundtrack at 1:01
@guitarharpsichord More than likely you will never reach the limit. Record the audio into tracks and then mixdown.

Bert Smorenburg is the Steve Jobs of Yamaha.

I think he just meant that Bert is as energetic as Steve was for his products, not the personality.
1:02 Bert loves ET!
does this new XF sounds so different then the motif XS ?
so the xf has all the same sounds as the xs and more?
love that bert ..
