I have the upmost respect for this man. I am a soldier with a Fiancé and 2 children and in February of 2019 I was away for training in South Korea. At around midnight in South Korea (4am in New Zealand) I got a message from my fiancée telling me that our 4 week old daughter was having breathing problems (didn’t seem to major). My fiancé would wake up every few minutes and check on her. The last time she checked on her our wee daughter she was grey and unresponsive. Once I got the message from her telling me that I freaked out and called her atleast 20 times in the space of 10 minutes but I got no answer. I thought that we had lost our daughter and here I am miles away from home with absolutely no power to do anything. I called my brother who lived just around the road from my house who woke up and rushed over to my place. My call eventually went through to my fiancé however a paramedic answered. At that point I almost fainted. I thought that a paramedic answering meant that that was it. We had lost our daughter. Suddenly, I heard a baby crying in the background and it was our baby girl. My fiancé successfully resuscitated our dead baby. I was beyond happy. I couldn’t believe it. Needless to say I rushed home on the next flight. Fast forward one year and my fiancé was suffering with severe depression and anxiety to the point she was suicidal. We had packed up our old home and moved in with her parents for support which we were very fortunate to have. Being out there was great for us however my daily commute went from a 2 minute drive to work to a 52 minute drive to work. One night I was doing a charity walk with some of my colleagues. 100km in 36 hours with a 25kg pack on our backs each. During this walk my fiancé started to send me concerning messages. We would talk on the phone every hour or so and I would just be checking in to make sure she was ok. Eventually, around midnight she told me she kissed the kids on the forehead and proceeded to over dose. I was 50km into the walk at this point. I waived down our safety vehicle that was driving behind us. Grabbed my colleagues phone that was driving the vehicle and rang the ambulance whilst calling my fiancé to try and get through to her. She would answer however she was fading in and out. Here I was, once again on the phone feeling completely helpless. Once I told the ambulance what was happening I called the home phone and her mum answered. Her mum got up and immediately started to try and get my fiancé to vomit the pills up. I arrived to the house about an hour later. My fiancé and I took the ambulance to the hospital and I sat with her all night to till the morning. Every so often she would come to and be so upset. Not because of what she had done, but because she was still alive. She wanted to be dead. Here I am, sitting in my sweat soaked clothing trying to calm her down. Once she fell asleep, I cried. I’m lucky. I still have my fiancé and my baby girl. I apologise for the long rant

in tears watching this because I can feel how unbearable the pain would be and yet he bore it
WHAT A MAN!
I have no doubt that this guy could have completed the course, there's a reason most SAS / SBS members come from hard backgrounds or have experienced similar things in life. If you can overcome this level of hardship, you will have an unbreakable mind, which is essential for SAS selection
WINT3RT1ME I feel like the part where they get captured and are held for 24 hours he might of cracked as the noises they were made to here were kids crying really think that could of fucked him up.
I think the word you're looking for is "resilient"
Hottest fire.....strongest steel
I don't see PTSD in this man's future....he can reconcile his life experiences
Me...I'd crawl into a dark hole of self-pitty and wallow in it....
"It's not FAIR"
No....no it fucking isn't...so go have a good cry....then get sorted and solider on...
@@notlikely4468 who were you replying to?
The guy saying about his wife getting killed, brought tears to my eyes. Brave guy! 👌
You can see him trying to surpress the questions. Not because he's not strong enough to talk about it, but I think because he didn't wanted the instructors to feel sorry for him. Tough tough man, been through something unthinkable. Wish him the utmost best.
This man is standing up and moving forward after that indescribably horrific event.
There are no words that capture how strong this man is.
You can see the emotion on Ant and Foxy’s face. Even to hardened special forces soldiers its shocking. Awesome guy. A true father and inspiration to all
Ant is getting his rocks off, he loves beating up women
Heartbreaking... absolutely heartbreaking. Can't even imagine how horrendous that must have been, you're a true hero carrying on strong for your kids. I hope your pain eases more with time.
My heart goes out to this man, never could imagine being in that situation! God bless pal.
Awww that's so hearbreaking😓😓 I cried when he was telling his story. But I admire him he is so strong wow.
I absolutely love watching this program, you have guys who are built like bricks giving it all then within hours hands VW. Then you have Number 13 with this sad story not giving up, I’m a growing man with a wife and kids and when he was told he couldn’t continue I wanted to cry for him. For me he is already a winner!!!
Daniel wall nah mate if some guy killed my wife, his wife, child, family, extended family, dog, cat fish will all meet their maker.
+KiwiSpartan1 could you honestly kill a child.is that what your saying
+KiwiSpartan1 could you honestly kill a child.is that what your saying
If someone hurt my wife or family yeah, I would wipe his seed from the earth.
jon skinner wipe their seed from the earth? Did you get that from the last of the mohicans ? Nobody with any sense thinks like that really it’s as bad as what happened in the first place
Brought tears to my eyes. Couldnt imagine the strength it took him to push on
It's blokes like that who endured something so utterly devastating but use it in a positive way with dignity and determination that are the real inspirations.
Makes me proud to the British
The definition of a real man right here, solid.
Respect to this man, you know it deep when ant Middleton has his head in his hands, but this lad is a top bloke very strong mentally.
Through all the screaming and insults, This could be so wholesome at times
this man is an inspiration
Ant has a good heart ,you can see that ,as tough it seems for these guy's it's his job to better them respect to Ant for what he's done for our country
To have the strength to continue after something as horrific as that, to show love, compassion and forgiveness like this man has shows a level of strength that few can attain. He by far is a man to strive to be like. Hearing his story made me well up so much respect for him. His kids have a great role model as a father.
Damn, dude literally had to listen to his wife die and carries on so strongly. These are the people who a born to be Spec Forces.
This interrogation made me cry
This man didn’t shed a tear during that discussion and it really shows that he is worth of SAS
@Ellias Garica This is not real SAS selection. Far from it. These are civilians on a TV show
God bless that man, that there is what you call a father
My heart goes out to this guy No 13. He's already a hero in my eyes
OMG!!!...watching this through teary eyes, a very brave man! As far as I'm concerned, NUMBER 13 YOU ARE THE WINNER!!!!
13 !! 13 !! 13 !!
God bless this man, hope he’s okay.
He’s such an amazing man for staying so strong. He is an amazing hero and inspiration.
This guy has suffered more than most will ever know. What a great guy and how lucky his kids are to grow up with him as a role model.
I honestly don't know how you'd come back from something like that you're a inspiration
Mans man. if you read this mate, you are an inspiration to EVERYONE. Im so so so so sorry for your loss but you kept going for your dependents which makes you a legend hero. i hope you are stiil coping my friend.
The face when he’s asked what’s the event omg 28 year old male here crying like a baby this clip made ring my wife and tell her I love her so much
Amazing that he can still keep going for his kids, good on you mate.
Now that is a true definition of a man....strong, loyal, humble, determined, caring and honourable. He is quite something!!
Ants reaction was that of a fellow father trying to comprehend what he just heard. I’m not even a father and I wouldn’t have been able to compose myself hearing that.
What a guy this man is, perfect example of an amazing father.
So much respect for that guy. No one can imagine what he went through and he kept strong. That is the definition of a proper man.
He may have a bad knee but he is one tough guy, you look after those kids & enjoy every day as they come, you for one know how precious & fragile life can be, total respect for you man!
Legend
Think that was the best series. The production team picked out a great bunch of contestants but, much more than that. A whole bunch of inspirational human beings.
My brother.... my love reaches out to you and your family unconditionally... your a fine example to others.. they should feel inspired by your actions.. a true hero and outstanding father.. keep it going my friend :) x
This is the epitome of courage, integrity, resilience AND love. I salute you mate and keep being an amazing role model for your kids. You have made me a better man from just watching this. Peace buddy. Great compassion too Ant & Foxy.
Good man your an inspiration to many, I was tackled whilst working when a 19 stone guy with Learning difficulties ruptured a disk in my Back, to cut along story 11 years later my left leg has 30% loss with 5 disks gone so bad they can't do nothing no more, be in a wheel chair but not fucking yet no way I'm only 41, your story is heart breaking and is a classic one when I was feeling sorry for myself then thought hang on a minute there is always someone worse off.
Salute you brother 🤜🤛
Little Bull Stay Strong. Life still has plenty of good to go offer.
the fact he could hear it over the phone but couldn't do anything broke my heart
It was hard to watch a SAS solider nearly break down in to tears like that
RIP Never Gone in our minds
I'm in a similar family situation to this man. I work away occasionally.
I cannot begin to imagine how this guy is still going. It broke me down and tears filled my eyes just hearing his story.
Treasure your loved ones every day, you never know what's around the corner. ❤️
Heartbreaking. What a bloke! Never cried so much in my life when I heard his story
You knownits horrific when even Ant is shell-shocked
Poor guy, i feel for him so much....its amazing how he has kept so strong for hi kids..Brave man
This guy was in this morning two years after the incident, absolutely brilliant man
Truly and utterly heartbreaking.
What a guy. What an absolute man. Devastating. Welling up watching this 😢
Wish that man the best of everything in life. He deserves it.
Emotional Intelligence, Mental Fitness/Resilience, Focus
and Determination can and will Prevail against all odds. Prima Facie exemplar right here. Hats Off.
Puts shit in perspective doesn’t it.
What a superb example of a man... bless you.
Bless him what an incredible man. I hope he is in a happier place now and his children are doing well 🙏
I'm in awe of this man. To have lost his wife and especially how he did.
To still get on...
God bless you ❤️ and your family ❤️
Can't even try for a millionth of a second even think of the power of this man and everything he has gone through. Respect to him and much love to his family.

Powerful. Best of luck to you m8 you’re an inspiration to many
wow unbelievable and he deserves a medal for carrying on and trying to make a new life with his children. Bless his wife; RIP lovely soul
I would imagine it takes a lot to shock special forces soldiers, that poor guy certainly managed it
Real man. Warrior no question about it the man is a warrior.
All my respect goes to this man and he his story made me sad
What an insainly tough man, would easily have the mental strength to excel in the SAS. You could see how his story touched the hearts of the instructors.
Complete respect
Unimaginable horror. What a man, wish him and his children all the best for the rest of their lives.
I cried when I heard what happened to his wife. You don't need to prove anything. You have a warriors heart and thats all that matters. Look after your kids and I am sure your wife is looking down from heaven and proud who you are now .
