It's often the case that some of the funniest, wittiest and laid back people we know use humour to mask deep anguish.

Joey has come across really well, he was let down badly by Lauren during the team challenge. He was literally carrying the entire weight at one stage, then she had the audacity to blame their shortcomings on him when his body gave out in the later stages. Yet, he didn't lose his temper. Hats off to him, hope he wins this, he deserves it.

How a 5 min video can change the perspective of someone is mind blowing

I’m 49, and like most in the early days just thought he was a bit thick and rather dopey. I was wrong. I’ve seen him in a few things recently and he’s clearly an absolutely top guy, genuinely nice and down to earth. He thoroughly deserves all the good luck I hope comes his way. I would be very proud to call this man my son. An absolute giant of a human being. God bless you son ❤️🙏🏻

The ‘why would she leave me?’ at the end broke me.

I actually really like Joey. I used to think he was annoying because he wasn’t the Brightest. But i will you what, he seems a really lovely person. I hope he wins.

I can’t imagine the trauma of losing your mother at such a vital age. It must have felt like a huge rejection and abandonment, but also despair at how it could have happened and why couldn’t she have been saved. I’m sure his mother would be very proud of her son.

I had tears coming down my eyes. He’s become such a selfless young man and everyone should be praising him. It can’t be easy, everyone needs to see it from all aspects x

My mother went shopping for some boiled ham for tea. I never saw her again. I'm 51 years old now and I was 7 when that happened. Fair play to Joey even bringing it up and the first step to dealing with it. I always try and use humour as my therapist.

The DS have a lot of respect for Joey and that says something. Guy is straight up, gives it his all and doesn’t take himself too seriously. Much love my guy. 🤜🏽

I respect him so much for that. He has a TV personality which is bubbly and a lot of people give him flak for it. Especially his intelligence, but the reality is a lot similar to how a lot of people feel right now, you can relate, at least some of us, and he's incredibly smart and incredibly talented. I just wish people would leave him alone.

10 years old is a very young age to go through such a traumatic event like that, Joey should be very proud of what he has become, he is a sucsessful young man and his mum would be very proud of him

My dad took his own life when I was 5. I know exactly how Joey feels. Loyalty means the world to me. I have major trust issues and my wall will always be up because you accept it but you never get over it. So whoever is feeling depressed always remember to talk and everyone is worth loving.
