The choice of therapist is everything when benefitting from therapy. That relationship has to instinctively feel right almost immediately, regardless of how many degrees they have . It's gutteral trust which doesn't come easy to those who've suffered enormous trauma. Lovely Joey appears depressed and his beautiful Mum must've been .. she likely didn't want to leave him but instead lost hope and wanted the pain to stop. Its very brave to make this film and to reach out for help in the first place which in turn help will help others undoubtedly.

Awww bless him, this brought tears to my eyes. I lost both my parents, so I can relate so well to Joey. Money is nice and it’s better to cry in a Mercedes than on a bicycle, but there’s no substitute for your mum especially. No matter whom we lose throughout our lives, I believe we never actually get over it, we just learn to live without the person we’ve lost. Some days, weeks, months, years are easier than others. My mum died nearly 30 years ago, yet sometimes it still feels like yesterday, other days it feels much longer. Sad, 💔💔

    Mental health is so important!!!
Especially for men and ultimately everyone needs to feel safe and comfortable to talk about their feelings without fear, shame, embarrassment for needing help. Everyone needs help sometimes.
Joey is doing exactly what I wish I could which is go back to my childhood home and walk around and soak in all the memories. Man this hits on a whole another level. 😢

I lost my brother to suicide in 2014 and I totally get where he is coming from that he has trust issues going forward in life. It's like your scared to form new attachments in case you get hurt again. I guess your just trying to protect yourself. Obviously you can let go.of attachements that you have already forged but I certainly dont attach myself to people like I use to for fear of getting hurt. Your not on your own Joey dont forget that. I read a great book by CS lewis .. A grief observed and the first page just summed up how I was feeling and still do. "Its like there is an invisible curtain between you and the real world" after the loss of a loved one. However losing someone to suicide is a different ball game because your dealing with so many things. Firstly you have lost a love one, secondly they took there own life and if they dont leave a note the questions as to why . It's so true that the people left behind are the ones that suffer because they have ended there pain. Well done for going to therapy and opening up but remember your not on your own with the pain that your carrying. Your mum will always be in your heart and no one can take that away from you. Xx

The day a person commits suicide their problems end. But their families just begin. Its cruel.
I hope Joey finds peace. He seems like a nice guy.

Yes I wish people would seek help first before they even consider suicide. Especially if they have young kids. How can any mother leave their kids in that way is beyond me! 😒

God forbid this tragedy on anyone. Joey is actually a wonderful success story and has done very well his sister too .
Suicide I believe is something to do with the person taking their life not those who are around them, they feel deficient somehow which being as beautiful and wonderful as Joey's mother obviously was no one can feel or see the reason why, one thing is certain the why has got nothing to do with the poor people left behind who will forever miss and love her.

I struggle to understand how a mother with young kids could kill herself. I know she obviously had problems but surely she could have had professional help. Leaving your kids is the ultimate rejection!

That would be amazing if it helps ease your pain too and makes you feel hopeful and happy again. Sending you my love and virtual hugs for the pain you have felt and the struggles you are having. This is so inspiring and brave. Just reminds you, you never know what someone if going through on the inside! I have lost my Dad and several people I have loved too. I used to block it all out but now I let myself feel again and I think that is so important. I have starting writing songs and putting them on my channel as I find that a great way to let out grief. I would really recommend songwriting.

His biggest hurt is when he asked, ‘why did my mom leave me, if she loved me’…. 😢 So he clearly feels she never loved him and that pain has crippled him inside all of his life and being a prankster has helped mask it and been the only way he has felt accepted and loved, to be funny and outgoing in company. I hope the therapist helps him realise it’s not because his mother didn’t love him. It’s because she couldn’t face any of her own pain anymore and wasn’t able to love him as she so desperately wanted. 😢🙏

I never knew this about Joey and only see the prankster side of him! This explains a lot to me. Of why he is that way and when the therapist asks if he gave up that side of himself would it feel like he is letting go of his mom, was quite powerful. Being unable to face adulthood and responsibility is something I struggle with as I’ve always been in circumstances where I am treated as a child, obeying others, not thinking for myself and my opinions not taken seriously. Now both parents have passed away, I have lost my purpose and identity. Completely. This will be so interesting to watch his documentary later as I have never seen Joey even taking ‘himself’ seriously and it will be the turning point and healing process. I am interested to see who this therapist is too and how he helps because I have always been in awe of Mandy Saligari and her therapy sessions with celebrities are amazing! I hope this helps him as you can see he is clearly broken inside and now is his chance to heal and be at peace with himself and the world. 🙏✨❤️💜💚💛🕊
