I wish these stereos were updated and as cutting edge as phones are. They're like stuck in the era of 3G iphones.
Thats kind of the point. Let the phone manufacturer spend the money on R&D and hardware.... All the radio manufacturer has to do is release firmware that continues to work. Everything is based off the phone. No need to have super high tech features in the radio when the connected phone has them and the radio can "reflect" it.
I've been watching your videos for the past couple weeks and really enjoy them. I especially like that the same info about each radio is in the same spot so I can find it quick on the video.
I do wish though when you say something like "I wouldn't pay $650 without an HD screen" please let us know or give us an example right there or at the end of the video in a conclusion what you would rather spend the money on. Right now I'm stuck as I'm new to these things trying to find an HD screen at this price point.
USB cables- the black one does all phones. The gray one is for thumb drives and charging. The GPS antenna is for maps to improve accuracy when using maps on phones. Those HD screens must be expensive because the next model up for another $200 gets you that. But THEN, you can plug in their HD 720p back up camera. Do a review difference between that camera and any others...would love to see that!
does watching youtube videos via the phone make it a issue for the screen not being HD? Trying to see if it's worth it or not. I'm really loving the product but just wondering how big of a issue it'll be without HD display

If you don’t have an IPhone or Samsung, I’d play it safe and go wired especially if you’re gonna use the mirroring features for video watching! Good Luck!
You never mentioned what volume you were at when testing rca pre outs! I'm curious to see when you tested clipping off the rca's.
I'm curious on that too. I just bought the 957xr which is the reference series. Apparently they are made with better materials. I did watch a video from 4 years ago on the reference series and there was no clipping through rca's at full volume. I don't know if that applies to the 907s though. Do you ever figure it out?
@@lobbyrobby yea I tested mine with a dd-1 and found clipping at volume 36 with both 1khz and 40khz!

@@Qualitymobilevideo Bluetooth streaming slow or delayed to long when switching between music or when playing a video from my phoneand when wifi is on for the Hotspot the screen flickers I noticed this Bluetooth issue when I had a regular stereo it wasn't like this
It's not a big deal. The screen isn't something you stare at constantly to benefit from it being HD. And I'm sure the dpi is sufficient for it to look decent.

What made it easier to connect than the Pioneer?
The Pioneer requires a few different steps in their W line, just took a little longer in general and needed a few attempts to figure it out

Hey Alyssa, you should contact your professional installer and ask if you need a special harness for your car! Also, if you use SIRIUS XM, then you need to purchase one on Amazon’s website for around $50, because it doesn’t come in the box although it’s SXM ready! Other than that, all accessories are inside the box with the head unit! I just recently bought the DDX9907xr!

907s has 5V pre outs and the 9707s has 4V pre outs!!
This unit, KENWOOD eXcelon DMX907S, went up in price. As of January 2022, the unit is going for $800 or more!
They have all gone up substantially, we all know why.

Wait for a price drop then it would be worth it. I've ran Pioneer pretty much. Had a Kenwood back in the day when the Excelon series started. It was double din. Not very user friendly though. Alot of features at the same time. It don't seem to be a bad radio. Just the price vs qaht your getting. Drop the price and would be fair considering it doesn't have HD. But, you dont buy a radio to watch movie's you buy a radio to run your amplifiers and sound in your vehicle. It's an output source that's it. So to me I'd buy it. They seem more user friendly now then back in the day.
Yes, I agree. I believe as a user friendly head unit with great pre out power Kenwood Excelon is it as long as it’s one of their reference series head units with hd display! Can’t lose with one of them whether you’re looking for video or sound quality!

My ddx9707s keeps shutting off when I put the volume above 25 then it turns back on any idea why?

The 907s has a capacitive touchscreen and the 9707s has a resistive screen. Unsure of the other differences.

In the correct format yes, for video files it plays MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG4, H.264, and WMV.

@@Qualitymobilevideo really a good wireless android auto system. If the prices for wireless versions are nuts I'd do wired with a wireless adapter. Everything about the Kenwood is pretty spot on, but I'd be happy to just have a smooth Android auto system and it works the car's backup camera (2015 Corolla). The stock radio is terrible and no longer works right... And you can hardly see the backup camera in it because the screen is so bad and dim 😂
I'm not concerned much about output since I'm not using amps and the vehicles stock system.

Yes! If you are hard wired (with the necessary wiring accessories) then yes, you can successfully mirror your phone for videos, RUclips, Netflix, Google Maps, etc!
I recently installed my 907s in my car and I’m not happy with the sound. Songs sound like they are playing in a tunnel, echoing vocals etc. can’t figure out what the problem is
Go into the audio settings and make sure you don't have any of the audio settings out of whack or any of the sound effects on. Could also be a wiring issue
Once you start playing w the dsp settings it tends to give that effect. Use a tape measure from ears to where speakers are behind the grill. If they are component you use the bigger woofer. I’m playing around w the settings to mine too.

Lost me at 800x480. It's disgusting to me that display and GPU technology so advanced today, yet these companies have the audacity to make a product that has specs that I would expect on a 2010 product.
