The screen on my wife’s RAV4 went out and the Toyota replacement was like 1200. Ended up just replacing it with one of these for a fraction of the price. It even has Apple CarPlay which the Toyota one didn’t. All the same functionality as the factory one, steering wheel controls and USB ports function the same. Highly recommended.

What is the difference between this and the DMX4707s?
No difference two different model # but they are the same depending what dealer you purchase from. I think if they are an authorized dealer they get one model # 4707 if your a regular dealer they get the 47
I had the same question and just chatted with a Crutchfield tech on this -- he said the specs are the same, but the 47S appears to be 'newer' stock for them as compared to 4707S. In looking at Kenwood's site, the latest firmware is the same for both models.

Hey smart guy, forgot to mention that it does mirroring for Android phones (icon was on the screen multiple times during your video) so I thought you'd be TOTALLY exited about that! Didn't think you'd skip that feature, however that feature takes away from you selling mirroring parts to people, so of course you're not gonna mention it. Please cover all features for customers, they need that info. Not everyone has an iPhone. The higher end models do mirroring through iPhone with an app, this one just does mirroring through an app only for Android. Please mention all features next time

hey i have this same stereo the fuse shorted, the wire problem is fixed but now the screen just keeps flashing on and off and wont ever turn on. I've tried resetting it, unplugging everything and plugging back in, forums, a car audio shop cant find a solution.

iDatalink is only needed for steering wheel controls and integration if you factory radio does things like climate control.
It's there anyway to use the oem backup camera on my 2010 Honda Odyssey with this type of radio?
You will need to see if there is a camera retention harness for that vehicle.

Tough choice! You're saving $50 with the DMX47S, but that's really the only thing it does better. You get the physical buttons on the DMX706S, which a lot of people prefer. The DMX706S also has 5V gold plated RCA pre-amp outptus vs the DMX47S' 2 volt. Also, the DMX706S is Dash Cam Ready, iDataLink Maestro Ready, plus has both front and rear camera inputs

Quality Mobile Video turns out it was a wiring issue when I installed it. Works perfectly fine now, it’s a great stereo for the price range

Not sure what help w can be, we're not Kenwood customer support. I would recommend contacting the dealer you purchased the headunit from or Kenwood directly to get a repair or replacement.
I can’t get the av in to screen mirror my iPhone. I have all the correct adapters and I’ve switched around the pin configuration several times. Any suggestions? Is there a setting the head unit needs to be on?

We're not 100% sure bud. They come from China, so getting product at the moment is a disaster and unpredictable. Hopefully soon, we just don't know

I just installed my 4707s.. when I plug into the USB it won't let me connect android auto... is there something I have to do? Maybe a radio update or something else? Any help is appreciated. And also compared to my dmx7706s the 4707s is pretty good so far
If you ever get yours to work please let me know. I am currently having the same issue with DMX4707S. I plug in my phone to the USB and it android auto/apple carplay both stay greyed out. If I try to start android auto on my phone it doesn't show it is connecting to the head unit.
Most Kenwood i have in the past are very bad during very sunny day almost to a point that you can’t see anything on the screen. How does this one handle during very sunny day or direct sunlight?

Can you guys add microphone tests in the future? Donut media did a comparison between a high end Kenwood and a mid tier Pioneer and the Pioneer had superior call quality, the microphone is also important for voice commands now.
How do they do their tests? Connect and talk on a phone call and record the call audio from the phone?
Quality Mobile Video They just did a subjective test on what phone call sounded better to the other person, I’m sure you can figure out a more precise way to test them or just record audio from the microphone and let the audience hear the quality.

Oh tough choice! I've reviewed both models so know them well. I would probably go for the DMX706S because it has more expandability options like iDataLink Maestro, two camera inputs. Not saying I'd get all that, but I'd like to have the option.

The 706 uses a resistive touchscreen where the 47s is capacitive from what I have seen.

Looks like a great unit for the price, but for some reason I just prefer the buttons along the bottom to having 'touch' buttons only...especially for quickly turning down the volume which is very handy...

@@Matasky2010 the remote is nice once you have memorized where the buttons are. Basically allows you to not have to look down at the stereo and maintain focus on the road ahead. Or allows passengers in the rear seats to control the music. Plus they are like $10
@@MrEvtmazda As the driver who always controls my stereo, I prefer to reach out and quickly press a button. The stereo is literally right beside the steering wheel. Even quicker is an actual dial for volume, but obviously many people want a more streamlined look these days. Remote will never offer an advantage to me. Maybe if you like to put your seat wayyy back in the lounge position, I can see the remote being better. I drive an SUV, and like to be upright. I'm not gonna drive around holding my remote, which means I'd have to pick it up, which means it will always be slower than simply pressing the button.

This stereo comes with an external microphone which must be installed to use voice control/hands free calling. If you didn't install it with the stereo, it will never hear you

Why does Kenwood look like its stuck in the 2009 and 2010 era? yeah the added the new features of 2020 but their interface looks something from when I was in high school in 2009.
If they upgrade the OS, then they’ll have to put better ram and processor which means much more expensive.

Hoenstly, I've been trying to figure that out myself! They are two different stereos, same price and from what I can tell, identical features. My only guess is one might replace the other? Which is odd becuase they're both new. Or one might come with an extra accessory like a remote. I wish I could tell ya
