Really glad it is working out for you! The last body I thought was worthy of a purchase was the 5D MkII... until this one. Total game changer coming from that body. So many more photos of fast moving subjects (bees/flies and birds) are in focus. It really is crazy. Don't hesitate to use 8K 30fps video (23MP at 4:5) for capturing that even more perfect moment or 4K 120fps for social media worthy images.

Great camera. I am hopeful they will get this overheating problem fixed soon! I don't use it for our video until then, that is all. Weird it go so hot that it tooks hours to work again...? Love the mirrorless though. Never going back to DSLR. You are right about the viewfinder too. I have had two of my cards fail back to back. I was shooting my first corporate gig in months and wanted to try it. For some reason the backup was corrupted too. Not a huge deal, as the client is coming back in two weeks to reshoot and I got new cards again! Probably a firmware issue. It is new.
Great video! I recently bought the R5 but have been grappling with whether to keep it given that I have an EOS R already. I can already tell I want to keep it, but I look forward to seeing your comparison video between the two.
Long time fan and have enjoyed your videos! I have been really following you heavily since summer with the R5 series. I have been waiting patiently for it to be restocked and now it's available and I just plunked down some $$$ to purchase one. It should be arriving the first week of March 2021. Currently I using the 5d4 mark iv and III. The video segment that spoke of the memory cards, it just occurred to me that I will need to purchase the CF Express cards. I also noticed that in your video that you used the UHS-I SDXC Memory Card and instead of the UHS-II. So I presume it's OK to use the UHS-I version, which I have plenty of. The majority of my business is wedding photography, so I want to make sure I am set with the proper memory cards. Love your videos and work, which only inspires me to be better.
Hey Mike! Thanks so much for following along! Truly means the world! Congrats on buying the R5. You are going to love it. It is at a whole other level the the 5D. Here is a link to the cards I have. They have worked perfectly for me. Though they do get hot in the card reader. Not sure if that is the cards or the card reader's issue. But I have never had any trouble with them. How about doing a step by step R5 menu setting tutorial and the settings you use and why. Basically how you have the camera set up and why you choose certain settings, what you have enabled or disabled and what advantages or disadvantages there are in those choices.
@@ShaneLongPhotography Agree the need for this. Not just how you would set it up but all the options available. I'm a photojournalist and would use it a bit differently than a wedding photographer.
This is great! If you are doing family portraits, do you need the CFcard too? Not doing sports... some times walking and ring around the rosey type stuff.
Thanks so much! If you are just doing family portraits, you probably don't need a backup card. I would just go with the SD card! In that case though you might want to also consider just getting the EOS R, and spending the saved money on some beautiful RF glass!
Love your reviews! Exceptionally in depth, well articulated, you get straight to the points and don't have a whole lot of "filler". Perfect review Shane! Also, if I find I can afford to do so in the future, I can see myself switching to this camera without a doubt!
Very well done review with actual video of viewfinder and how the camera reacts to shooting situations and good demonstration of eye and animal focus . The medium jpeg vs large is a good approximation for r6 vs r5 resolution and most folks would be happy with r6. One question I had is although EVF shows actual live image , the brightness of the evf image can be misleading to what is truly captured and displayed on the rear lcd which seems little darker than what is shown on the evf. The auto or manual brightness adjustments helps but I am not sure it is possible to always match evf image brightness to lcd image brightness , thoughts ?
Great comment! I would totally agree with there. Especially since your eye is constantly adjusting to the ambient light and then you put it in the viewfinder, it can be a little misleading. I have my EVF set the medium brightness. That is why I love having the histogram in the viewfinder!!! It shows a consistent graph of where my brights and darks are so I always know if my highlights are blown no matter if I am using the EVF or rear LCD. Hope that helps!
This!!! Your style of photography is where I want to be. Beautiful images! I purchased the r6 trying to decide on which lens to buy. Already own a lot of ef glass.
Hello Shane, Jose from Puerto Rico. I just subscribed to your channel. Wonderful review of the camera. My gut feeling always was that this is an awesome stills camera and now you've confirmed it. Great job!
Hi Shane and thank you came accross you this week and glad I did. I am going through that debate of either R5 or R6 and I was leaning towards the R6 but going from 30 MP to 20 is on my mind?
Hey Nancy! I went through that same debate. I think for most people 20 will be great. But I can tell you I LOVE the 45 megapixels. The files aren't much larger but the detail is so fun!!! Almost ever wedding I photograph there are some photos I crop way in. So if you have the budget, I would get the R5. If you don't have it in the budge, the R6 is really incredible too!
So enjoyable video, simple, informative, Great and calm music in the background ,no special effects, just one by one subject and samples straight to the point 👍
first mirrorless camera that makes me want t to upgradde my 5d seriecameras. I gav the sony a7 mark 3 a fair chance but the camera felt like it didnt have a soul. When i shoot with my 5d3 i almost forget that i have the camera in my hands and that is a huge must on my list and the sony a7 serie didnt give me that feeling. amazing camera but i couldnt see me shooting profesional with them. But the r5 and r6 feels like smaller 5d cameras but with so much more umpfh and power in them
Hello! In the last part of the video I go over it. I have never had any overheat issues. Even shooting 10 hour weddings all day long with RAW and JPEG. Hope that helps!
Thanks Andrea! That means so much! My wife is the other side of the business and she handles our editing! I hope to have her make a video on it in the future. She is a total pro!
Great video Shane! I am loving my R5 as well. One thing I have noticed is that if you set the same settings between the 5DIV and R5, the histogram will be the same but the light meter on the R5 is off by 2/3 under for 0 exposure. Not sure if you have noticed that or not.
The best most 'natural feeling' photography (!) review of the R5 I have seen to date. One can tell you don't have to convince yourself or anybody else of features you don't truly use! You confirm what I am thinking, awesome focus, my EF lenses will work well and finally the dynamic range to push those shadows that made me envious of Sony and Nikon cameras for the better part of the last decade. It finally seems ok to upgrade from my 5D. Very well done Shane, you deserve a subscription! However, I must say, that I dislike the smaller body. I've held and played with the R6 several times now. The 5d felt more comfortable size wise. My thumb extents >2cm over the top of the camera and I have medium sized hands. For my taste they could have kept the 5D size. I wonder if I'll ever get used to having to bend all fingers all the time instead of a more 'full size grip'.
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful! I totally understand where you are coming from on camera size. People vary so much in that regard! I am glad they didn't go any smaller.
The images are stunning Shane!! Glad to see a working photography professional using the camera. I’m not interested in the video capabilities. Love this channel!✨
Hi there! I have, what seems like could be a silly question. But... how do we get it to live shoot? (Rather than viewing through the viewfinder?). I just can't seem too get the camera to go into live view mode. (I'm shooting with an R6, and have the R5 on backorder )
Hello! It should automatically when you don't put it up to your face. Just hold it out in front of your body! If it doesn't, press Menu, then press the yellow tab, then press 3, then Screen/viewfinder display should be set to AUTO1. Yours might be set to "viewfinder". Hope that helps!
Thank you for such a great, in depth & easy to follow photography review of this camera! It was very helpful for me. I had been debating back and forth between the R5/R6, and I believe I have finally made my decision! You are so easy to follow, just a great review, great channel! New subscriber here! :)
I haven't used it. Looks amazing though. If you are looking for stills camera with more resolution, go with the R5. If not, save the money... Just my quick thoughts!
do you use electronic shutter/silent mode in crucial moments like first look, emotional speeches, church? How do you find it? Any issues with banding? Assuming you have shot and been to different lighting situations.
Hello Carlos! Sorry for the slow time to respond. I had to take a break from RUclips as I was super busy with photoshoots and family life. The regular shutter is so quiet, I usually just use that. But sometimes for sports I use the ES to make sure I capture the moment. I had used the ES at church, and the lights there gave me banding with the ES. So I went back to mechanical. Hope that helps!
Hi Shane, your review is one of the reseasons I decided to buy the R5 for weddings. Thank you so much for all the great info. Question, I used servo and face tracking on a wedding day. I tried to photograph the writings on flowergirl's robe, but the focusing keeps going back to her head, or the back of her head to be exact. What would you do in this case, turn off face tracking quickly and then turn it back on?
Glad you got it! It is amazing! I hope to someday made a video of how I customized it to quickly switch between focusing modes. If you set up the camera to use the "touch and drag" focus, then even when you are in the face detection mode you can drag and touch other things to focus on. I think I talk about it a little in this video. Otherwise just switch to single point AF, and then back to fact detection mode. Hope that helps! Have fun!
Something you could do is show the low light but with an Fstop thats a little more realistic for others that dont have a 1.2 lens because thats a huge game changer as well. over its a cool video
Thanks for this review! Glad to see I'm not the only person using the big wheel to switch between AF points. Because I upgraded from the EOS R, I had already trained myself to do everything without the big wheel because it didn't exist on the EOS R. So when I got the EOS R5 I had to decide if I wanted to use the big wheel like I did with the 5D Mk4 or do something different with it. Because I was goi g to shoot a few weddings with the EOS R5 and the EOS R side by side I figured it would be best to keep them as similar as possible and I could always change things up once my second EOS R5 arrived. Using the big wheel for focus modes has been super convenient and faster than the way I did it on the EOS R. Someone coming directly from the 5D Mk4 to the EOS R5 might be tempted to continue using the big wheel the way they had been on the 5D Mk4, but coming from the EOS R it was very easy to find a completely different use for the big wheel and I'm happy about that. I like your tip about using the vertical selection to focus just on the couple coming down the center of the aisle. On my way to a wedding right now and I'll have to try that out!
We think the exact same! Because I am still shooting with the R I feel like I haven't yet fully customized my R5 because I have to dumb it down to in some ways match the lack of customization of the R. Hope the wedding went well!
@@ShaneLongPhotography - I'm now using two R5 bodies but even though I'm free to configure them however I want (because I don't need them to be similar to the EOS R) I'm really happy with the way they're set up right now. With the EOS R I had to press the Mfn button and roll the top wheel (index finger) to select the focus mode but using the big wheel on the R5 is so much more convenient. Once in a while the old 5D Mk4 muscle-memory kicks in and I catch myself trying to use the big wheel for aperture but I'll get over that soon enough.
@@cindywalsh1878 - Since I didn't have a big wheel on the EOS R, I got used to using the top dial (same as the MODE dial) for aperture. To keep everything as similar as possible between cameras, I set up the R5 and R3 bodies the same way for aperture control. I'm used to it now.
Thanks, Shane. Good--almost too good--review. I hope I'm safe in assuming you have no affiliation with Canon. While I'm not a wedding photographer, I do shoot a 5D4 and a 7D2 for editorial, documentary, and some landscape and architectural. In part because of your video, I'll be buying a 5R---probably late winter, if they're available by then.
Haha! No affiliation with anyone! Like any camera, it has a couple quirks here and there, but it is far and away the best camera I have ever used! You will love it.
I currently shoot with the EOS R and I want your comparison of the auto focus of EOS R compared to the R5.. Do you feel the it is that much superior to the EOS R. Thanks for the videos!!
Hey Eric! Great question. I will be doing an R versus R5 video in the coming months. I didn't expect the R5 to be that much better than the R but wow it is on a whole other level. Just two nights ago I was shooting the father daughter dance at a wedding. With the same setting the R couldn't focus on the dad/daughter. I had to flip it to manual focus. The R5 locked focus instantly and had no problem face detecting during the whole dance. I can also shoot the prime lenses at 1.2 with running subjects and the R5 has no problem nailing it. The R is good. the R5 is phenomenal. Hope that helps!
Ok Shane, as if I need to watch the 1 millionth R5 review "GEESUS" ... LENSES, I get the Lens and Camera IBIS in the RF lens, However for those who have all the EF Lenses and can get the adaptor ... Have you tested shooting the EF 85 f/1.2 L II to the RF 85 f/1.2 L and see anything between the 2 on the R body that would bring a person to buy the body and adaptor? And do you think the R should have ben give 2 CFExpress slots vs 1?
Hey Jeffrey! I used to own the EF 85 1.2 but sold it for the EF 85 1.4 which I sold for the RF 85 1.2. :) The EF 85 1.4 worked great on the R5. As do all the other adapted lenses. They work better than on DSLRs. Here is the adapter video I made. ruclips.net/video/FY344GlCpBQ/видео.html And no, I like the CFexpress and SD combo. Lets me not have to buy all new memory and I don't need super speed in slot two as I am just running backup jpegs in it. Hope that helps!
Great review. I just subscribed. I have a question on rolling shutter. You took some photos of your son swinging a baseball bat using electronic shutter (20 fps). Did you see any jello effect on the baseball or the bat at all?
Hey Kenneth! Great question. Yep. Some of the 20fps baseball bat and ball photos had some distortion in the bat and ball. Looked a little like a bent golf club does during a swing. That is the downside of electronic shutter. Shooting with the mechanical shutter would solve that. But many of the photos didn't have distortion and were totally usable! Hope that helps!
Awesome review! Just ordered an canon R5... my question is I got the regular EF lens adapter for $99will that still work? or do I need the one that you showed on here with the ring I think for $199? Thanks
Thanks! I was just in the flower garden for minute when that butterfly landed! I thought it was the perfect chance to try out the 6X and 15X zoom! He was there only long enough for me to grab a couple photos. All the best!
Thank you! I use the Hold Fast Money Maker. It is amazing! I have a blog post on it and my other favorite accessories here! shanelongphotography.com/2020/05/14/five-favorite-accessories-photography-gear-review/
R5. It Just even being able to have the whole screen to select AF points is worth it to keep up with all the action. It is faster and more responsive. But either will make great photos!
Great question Carlos! If you look at the humming bird section of the video, the shot of the bird with sun coming through the wing was shot with the 135 at f2. The R5 and 135 is an awesome combo!
@@ShaneLongPhotography how does the lens behaves with the IBIS? How low can with your S.S can you go? Do you see a difference even shooting at normal S.S for this FL. TiA
They are hard to find right now! Looks like the next round of R5's come in around Oct 20th but I am not sure how long the wait list is on them. I am not sure on the R6.
Thanks to encouraging news from your video & others, I'm getting very tempted to get an R5, plus one lens, either the 85 1.2 or the 50 1.2. I have the EF 85 1.2 II, tried & sent back the EF 50 1.2, neither really completely did it for me. I can afford only one, any observations you know of to help make a decision?
Glad it was helpful! The R5 will make a big difference for you as the AF is much more accurate with with prime lenses. Both the RF 50 1.2 and RF 85 1.2 are significantly better that their EF counterparts. Crazy sharp, beautiful bokeh, very low CA. If I had to pick one, I would probably start with the 50. It is just a little more versatile. That said, if you specialize in portraits/headshots the 85 might fit your work better. Hope that helps!
Considering this over the 70-200 as my first Super lens (I will have others like the 24-105 but I am looking at only one super lens to start.) Thoughts?
Hey Eric! Kind of depends on what you shoot. I personally don't own a 24-105 or a 70-200 as I prefer prime lenses. But both those lenses are great with fast focus for outdoor sports. If you need to zoom in farther, the 70-200 is great. If you need wider, get the 24-105. For me the 24-105 was my first L lens. It was great, but I ended up selling a few months later and getting prime lenses (like the 35mm 1.8). Not sure if that helps, just my thoughts!
All recent EOS R5 video reviews are on still photography. Because the pre-release video hype was downed with a knockout punch in the first round. However, EOS R6 produces better IQ than R5 due to its larger pixels. Due to same reason it performs better in low-light.
Thanks for the comment Quazi! I have photographed with both cameras and find the R5 superior in image quality even in low light. Couldn't be happier with it! All the best.
Thanks! Try updating your Lightroom! They recently added support for the R5. Before they had file support, I was using Adobe's free DNG converter software and then bringing them into Lightroom.
Glad it was helpful! If I owned that lens, I totally would! I bought a 24-105 way back when I first started, but I sold it off pretty quick as I like the look of prime lenses more for my style and needs. But I think the RF24-105 has really fast AF if you are doing outdoor sports it might work well. Or if you are doing studio portraits with flashes. All the best!
How do you turn the back screen off and on? I shoot the 5D mark iv where you use the start stop button to activate the screen. I notice that button is removed from the r5.
Hey Chris! Great question. It does it automatically. There is a sensor by the eye piece so that if you put your eye up to the viewfinder it turns off the back LCD screen! You can also go into the settings and set it so the back LCD screen is always on or so the EVF is always on.
@@ShaneLongPhotography i was referring to the flip out screen. How do you go from the info screen to the live view. On the 5D you hit the start stop to activate it
Great question! I have never owned or used the a7R4, so I am no expert on that one! But for me just holding the Sony's a couple times, the ergonomics and button layout on the Canon's seals the deal. Plus I love the 1.2 lenses in the Canon system. All the best in your decision! You will make great photos with either!
Hey Rawin! I haven't yet compared color with R6 is that regard, but I have with the R and R5. I will touch on it briefly when I do that comparison video. Even when using the exact same white balance and lens, The R is a touch more green; R5 a touch more pink. Neither is a issue, I just have to move the slider a little one way or the other to get them to match. But the R5 has much more play you can do with the files compared to the old Canon sensors.
I'm been watching your videos and have subscribed. Very helpful and informative. My R5 is on back order. If you think hummingbirds are fast try a kingfisher 😆.
Good informative video. I've been waiting for my delivery about 1 month, here in the UK. A question how do find using flash with the R5. Being a mirrorless camera, do you find a difference. From a DLSR.
Glad it was helpful! I don't notice a difference, though I haven't used my flash a lot in the month. I still do the same like I did with my DSLR. I set the exposure without the flash on and then turn on the flash at manually to add however much fill I want. The shot with the soccer player in the video was taken with a three flash setup. Worked totally like my 5D Mark IV did. Hope your camera comes soon!!!

They are so stinking fast!!! All the best! www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1551687-REG/sandisk_sdcfe_128g_ancnn_128gb_extreme_pro_cfexpress.html
How about doing a step by step R5 menu setting tutorial and the settings you use and why. Basically how you have the camera set up and why you choose certain settings, what you have enabled or disabled and what advantages or disadvantages there are in those choices.
Great idea! I just added it to my list of video ideas! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks Kyle! That means a lot! My goal is to get right to the point. Keep saving up! When the time comes, you will love it!
A rare type of helpful review.
Thank you so much for the kind comment! Glad it was helpful!
Excited for a stills specific review, thank you
You bet! Hope you enjoyed it!
Very informative video Shane. And your work rocks. Thanks so much!
I appreciate that! Thanks Pete!
A great and informative review. I've ordered an R5 and can't wait to get it.
You are going to love it! Hope it comes soon!
Great choice! You are going to love that camera!!! Do you have a good 50mm lens? The RF 50mm 1.2 is worth its weight in gold!
Hello Shane, Jose from Puerto Rico. I just subscribed to your channel. Wonderful review of the camera. My gut feeling always was that this is an awesome stills camera and now you've confirmed it. Great job!
Hey Jose! Thanks for subscribing! This camera is soooo incredible. Every time I use it, I am more impressed! All the best!
Thanks for another great video, I’m contemplating the shift to an R5/6 and your reviews are the most informative. Cheers
You are welcome! Thanks so much for following along!
Super helpful video, especially regarding the resolution and battery life. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks David! Glad it was helpful!
Shane Long Photography thank you right now its about budget but I am afraid to lose my detail
You look like an incredibly happy guy. Nice work

So enjoyable video, simple, informative, Great and calm music in the background ,no special effects, just one by one subject and samples straight to the point 👍
Thanks so much for the kind comment! I am just trying to make simple videos that help people decide what camera is best for them! All the best!
first mirrorless camera that makes me want t to upgradde my 5d seriecameras. But the r5 and r6 feels like smaller 5d cameras but with so much more umpfh and power in them
Same story here! I tried a Sony but it wasn't for me. This camera is more than a worth successor to the 5D series! Thanks for the kind comment!
I love my R5 but looks like you are putting your through the ringer lol nice review! Learned couple things to adjust on mine!
Isn't it such a fun camera?! But you are loving it!
@@ShaneLongPhotography Absolutely!
Nice video, plz will you tell about r5 overheat issue, if i shoot Raw & jpg both for day long, not vdo.
Hello! In the last part of the video I go over it. I have never had any overheat issues. Even shooting 10 hour weddings all day long with RAW and JPEG. Hope that helps!
@@ShaneLongPhotography thank you so much.
Hi Shane! I LOVE your photos! could you please make a video about your editing workflow? :) that would be awesome!!!
Thanks Andrea! That means so much! My wife is the other side of the business and she handles our editing! I hope to have her make a video on it in the future. She is a total pro!
@@ShaneLongPhotography lol thank you :) you make a perfect team!!!
Great video Shane! I am loving my R5 as well. One thing I have noticed is that if you set the same settings between the 5DIV and R5, the histogram will be the same but the light meter on the R5 is off by 2/3 under for 0 exposure. Not sure if you have noticed that or not.
Thanks Rob! Interesting observation! I don't have my 5D anymore or I would look into that. Have fun out there!
Another reviewer noticed the same thing re: underexposure.
Thanks so much for following along Cindy! Really appreciate your kindness!
Nice review! Really enjoyed watching it. Going to make a review video as well once I have it 🤠
For photography this camera is truly a champion.
Thanks Gary! Hope it comes soon! You are going to love it.
Thank you for such a great, in depth & easy to follow photography review of this camera! It was very helpful for me. I had been debating back and forth between the R5/R6, and I believe I have finally made my decision! You are so easy to follow, just a great review, great channel! New subscriber here! :)
Thanks Allie! Glad it was helpful! Whatever you get you are going to love it! All the best!
Any thoughts on the new Canon R6 mark ii? Trying to decide between that and the R5
I haven't used it. Looks amazing though. If you are looking for stills camera with more resolution, go with the R5. If not, save the money... Just my quick thoughts!
@@ShaneLongPhotography thanks for answering! I ended up going with the R6ii and love it!
do you use electronic shutter/silent mode in crucial moments like first look, emotional speeches, church? How do you find it? Any issues with banding? Assuming you have shot and been to different lighting situations.
Hello Carlos! Sorry for the slow time to respond. I had to take a break from RUclips as I was super busy with photoshoots and family life. The regular shutter is so quiet, I usually just use that. But sometimes for sports I use the ES to make sure I capture the moment. I had used the ES at church, and the lights there gave me banding with the ES. So I went back to mechanical. Hope that helps!
@@ShaneLongPhotography indeed it helped. Thanks for taking the time.
Have fun!
Awesome review, I love your positivity! Definitely subscribed :) Can’t wait for my R6!!!
Hey Nyeena! Thanks for subscribing! You are going to LOVE the R6!!! All the best!
Extremely detailed video, answered all my questions!! Great work man
Thanks Brandon! Glad it was helpful! I really appreciate the kind comment!
Great video!!! Looking forward to the r vs r5 video as I am looking to get the r5.
Thanks Jay! It is in the works! But the short story, if you shoot weddings/events go all in on the R5 it is so worth it!
Something you could do is show the low light but with an Fstop thats a little more realistic for others that dont have a 1.2 lens because thats a huge game changer as well. over its a cool video
Great idea! Thanks for the suggestion Carol!
Great review Shane. Thank you!
You are welcome!
So how to you control aperture if you’re using the big wheel for AF?
@@cindywalsh1878 - Since I didn't have a big wheel on the EOS R, I got used to using the top dial (same as the MODE dial) for aperture.
To keep everything as similar as possible between cameras, I set up the R5 and R3 bodies the same way for aperture control. I'm used to it now.
Absolutely stunning work. You are becoming one of my favorite youtubers, and I only just found you for the first time yesterday 😂🤷🏽♂️. Keep it up!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate you following along!!!
I'd love to see a video on how you color your wedding photos. They look great!
Thank you! I have gotten a few of these requests so maybe this winter we can make an editing video!
Incredible pictures, and the BEST reviews. Thank you
Glad you like them! Thanks so much!!!
Thanks!!
Shane, I've always wondered: What happened to Shane Short?
Haha! I grew out of him ;)
Ok Shane, as if I need to watch the 1 millionth R5 review "GEESUS" ...
Thanks so much. The best R5 review I've seen yet!
Wow thanks!!! Glad it was helpful!
How can it handle EF-S lenses? Does it automatically crop in? I have a Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 that I would want to use. Thanks!
Yep it automatically crops them. Works great!

Very good video and you explained well. Btw what camera and lens you used to shoot this video?
Thanks! The camera I used the EOS R. The lenses varied a little but the main was the RF 50mm 1.2 at like f/2.8. Hope that helps!
Shane - how many RAW images can you get on a 64GB CF Express card?
Hey Jaz! I just put in a card and at ISO 500 (I just choose a middle ISO) it says I can write 1250 images.
Thanks
Yes it will! You will love it! The $99 one just won't have the customizable ring, but a lot of people don't use it anyway. Have fun!
Very nice review, did you tried the camera with photographing flying butterflies?
Thanks! I was just in the flower garden for minute when that butterfly landed! I thought it was the perfect chance to try out the 6X and 15X zoom! He was there only long enough for me to grab a couple photos. All the best!

Indian wedding photography wich camera best canon 1DX mark II or eos r5
R5. It Just even being able to have the whole screen to select AF points is worth it to keep up with all the action. It is faster and more responsive. But either will make great photos!
It would be nice if you cold test the camera with the 135mm f2.
TiA
I want to purchase an R5 OR R6 but where are they in stock?
@@ShaneLongPhotography Thanks much, that does help. Thanks for making it easy to understand.
Nice video. Lots of people claimed the R5 can’t be used for weddings. How strange is that?
Haha! Lots of opinions on that right?! I don't find the files to be too big at all and it gives me much more freedom in post!
Considering this over the 70-200 as my first Super lens (I will have others like the 24-105 but I am looking at only one super lens to start.)
Thoughts?
Shane, any overheating while shooting stills only?? re: full wedding days
just finished video... 😏
Hope it answered your question! No overheating or indicator light even once even on hot days at 20fps!
this is such a wonderful video review!!!!!!!!! wow!!!!! Love it!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful!!!
All the best.
you're files look great, how are you processing them? I have the R5 but Lightroom doesn't have camera profiles, just curious
Thanks! Try updating your Lightroom! They recently added support for the R5. Before they had file support, I was using Adobe's free DNG converter software and then bringing them into Lightroom.
Enjoyed the review❤️. If u can please review the 24 to 105 mm lens too.
Shane Long Photography thank you for replying. Am a beginner. Will be trying portraits and landscapes.
Great review and video. And awesome photos `☺️
Thanks David!
Will you be doing a review of the R6?
Maybe sometime! The biggest difference will just be the resolution. My friend just got it and loves it! ruclips.net/video/ZEggl7UN7e4/видео.html
What shutter mode do you use ?
I still shoot mostly mechanical. I like the feel of it and for portraits don't need all the extra photos to cull through.
You've been hard at work, really appreciate this. I decided to go for the R5 simply for the MP. Don't do video, let alone 8K!
Thanks Fernando! You are very welcome! Have fun with the R5!
Nice shots! Thanks for the video! Would you consider “an upgrade” moving from a 5D Mark iii to an R6? (Can’t afford the R5)
Absolutely. It's an r5 but with lower megapixels, 20 to be exact, same as 1dx3
Absolutely! It will be a huge upgrade! 20 mpix is plenty for almost everything! The AF along is worth the upgrade!
Bart M, Awesome! Thanks!
Shane Long Photography, Awesome news for sure! Thank you!
On the 5D you hit the start stop to activate it
Eos r5 vs Sony a7r4 which the best?
Great question! I have never owned or used the a7R4, so I am no expert on that one! But for me just holding the Sony's a couple times, the ergonomics and button layout on the Canon's seals the deal. Plus I love the 1.2 lenses in the Canon system. All the best in your decision! You will make great photos with either!
@@ShaneLongPhotography ok thanks, i will try eos r5 .
Awesome review. Cheers
Much appreciated! All the best!
How would you describe the colors of SOOC JPEG from the R5 vs R6? Which one do you prefer?
@@ShaneLongPhotography Yes I found the R to be a bit green which I dont like hopefully the R5 will be like the old canons and have the pinkish tint.
