Your Name is a masterpiece, not only as anime, is a movie masterpiece
Dozens of familiar anime ideas are woven into an intriguing story that is really interesting to watch. There is no point in sorting out the details, only together they give birth to the best representative of the genre. Mixtures of genres. There is enough depth in the anime "Your Name" to want to watch it both a second and a third time. This anime is about the fact that love is subject to both time and space. Tears are always the best recognition of a Master's work - they purify the soul and bring us back to the truth. To touch the strings of the soul - this is the ultimate goal of art...

This movie is absolutely worth watching again. There are so many details, symbols of time are everywhere, as are things that connect (watch how often that bridge shows up) and go around or reconnect like trains. They follow in each other's footsteps, right up to trying to call each other on the phone from the same spot on the same bridge.
There were 3 meteor impacts, spanning 2400 years, in this movie. One where the shrine is and two for the infinity lake. And very much pay attention to the teacher in the beginning about the golden hour, the twilight where the two meet at the edge of the underworld.
This movie goes deep.

Yea when she looked at her hand and said "I can't remember your name with this" I was like wtf are you on about? You're literally looking at his name written on your hand. I had to look it up to figure out it said "I love you."
I have this movie on Blu-ray in English and it has the "I love you" part translation perfectly.
What a CRIME
The name of the Italian restaurant translates to "The Garden of Words", another film by the director. A common trait of his is to have some connections between his movies - the name of the restaurant is one, as is Mitsuha's teacher to that film to that film.
Weathering With You, also by Makoto Shinkai will have many connections to this film. That was also a visual treat.
There was a Japanese TV show that had a segment on this movie not long after its release as they noticed its popularity among the older generation keeping it in the movie charts (despite the film being marketed to young adults/teens). They invited some older generation folks to a special screening and placed cameras in the movie theatre towards the audience, then interviewed the people afterwards. Needless to say, many of the old folks were in tears, and noted that the "red string of fate" (symbolised in this movie with Mitsuha's ribbon and the dream sequence at the shrine) which is prevalent in Eastern oriental cultures was something they experienced in their own lives - like an invisible bond - some people said they met their spouse/soul mate or found something they were looking for.

Taki-kun's voice actor is Shikishima, the main character of Godzilla.
Shikishima is also connected to Godzilla by the threads of fate!
Taking wasn’t making Mitsuha be a bad girl, she just never stood up for herself, so when people said mean things about her, tried to hide or get away. He didn’t put up with it. Which made her more popular
This movie is often mentioned at the same time as "A Silent Voice" because "your name" came out right ahead of it and was such a box office hit that "A Silent Voice" ended up being drowned out in its aftermath. In a kind gesture, the director of "your name" said in a Tweet that he had just see "A Silent Voice" and that it was fantastic -- and that Naoko Yamada (it's director) had exceeded what he had put to screen (this is paraphrasing).
This movie is the definition of “the mind forgets but the heart remembers”

The scenes from the movie are based on actual locations in Japan. There are videos on YT that show them.
BTW - They do end up married, as they make an appearance in a later anime.

I don't know about true love or soul mates, but in 2012 I played a League of Legends match, and added my teamates because we had so much fun. One girl commented our post about the match and I became friends with her
She lived in a city thats almost 1000 Km from where I live. But we remained friends until 2019 when we started a relationship. She came to live with me by December that year and we are together for 5 years now
This movie remebers me of our own history (thankfully without any comet 😅), but anyways, Its not about true love or soul mates, Its about how much you want to be with someone and If you would do anything to be with them
Eveyone talks about dying for love, but would you live for love? Work hard, be faithfull and loyal to your love for as long as you live?
That is my favorite movie of them all.

In Japanese, multiple emotions are mixed together, and we express the emotion as "heart-rending sadness" (as opposed to "切ない←se twu nai or se tsu nai"). This expression does not exist in English, so it is a useful one when watching Japanese anime.
It is not surprising about the loneliness of a loving couple of teenagers. Heartfelt. It was a pity that their studies had scattered them so far. But they were invisibly connected to each other. Japan is so small on the map, and the couple is scattered over long distances in such a small country. But ...they need each other... and a meeting is inevitable.

Fantastic reaction 🥰. Your Ladys did understand quite a lot very fast. This movie is simple a masterpiece that has so many layers. Some helps to explain the movie: 1. The reason his Message(i love you) did not got deleted is cause of the spritual world of Japan. In Japan Love is protected by the moon goddess in all form and untouchable/changbale in ANY form. So his love message passed Time and place. 2. Rember the the red thread? Its a red threat for the story and a read threat for the love we keep over the time and between the times as she gave it to him 3 years bevor he even switched bodys with him: Destiny^^. Its a threat that connects us through the spritual world and all times. So classic we are/were meant for each other over space and time....how romantic can it get right 😍! Then imagine you have a dream from time to time that felt mega real? try to explain that to yourself and especially others..like some have in real live. They all think its unreal and no one will believe you. And then do try to do something super stupid and try to tell everyone its all for them to protect them...🥲This Movie is a masterpiece even if you dont like anime and it will be a masterpice in Cinema history.
