THIS BROKE ME.... completely shattered me..... this was an incredibly special experience. I hope you all enjoy this! I'm so happy to bring this Movie to the channel before the end of the year - and I hope to watch many more in 2025! But thank you all so much for this recommendation. I can't stop thinking about how beautiful this was....
I'm so glad you enjoyed this! This is one of those anime/movies that for me, transcends any of its plotholes it may have.. it's all about the feelings it brings and reminds you of!
The reason Taki and Mitsuha lose their memories of each other after their twilight meeting is because in order for Taki to enter the shrine, which is the underworld, and undo the timelines to save Mitsuha, he was required to leave something of himself behind. The thing most precious and dear to him. That precious thing he left behind was their memories of each other. So when twilight ended and Taki and Mitsuha were sent back to their own timelines, their memories of each other immediately faded, and time and fate were undone to make way for a new one. But, by writing “I love you” on Mitsuha’s hand instead of his name, the moon god protected their hearts. In Japanese folklore, the moon god protects all messages of love and is not bound by the laws of fate or time. So they forgot the experiences they went through with each other, their faces, and even their names, but not the feelings they had for that person. The love they had in their hearts remained there. Even though they could no longer remember who the person they loved was, they knew they loved someone, and that that person loved them too.
I remember when grandma was explaining how she and her mother also had dreams (this part was cut for this video) she told that after you wake up dreams fade and you eventually forget them. So that was a good explanation of why they started forgetting each other.
I'm Japanese. I'm using the translation function, so I'm sorry if it's hard to understand. Thank you for your wonderful reaction. In the scene where Mitsuha's grandmother offers sake to the gods, Mitsuha told Taki that in order to return from the world of the gods (the other world), they had to "let go of what is most important to them." What was important to them was the time and memories they spent together, and in exchange for letting go of that, they were allowed to return to this world. So when they returned to their respective worlds, they forgot each other's names. But even though they lost their memories and forgot their names, the two were still attracted to each other. "Musubi" is like the red thread of fate, which is wonderful. (I don't know if there is an idiom like "red thread of fate" in English 💦 It's like an invisible thread that connects two people who are destined to be together.)
I watched Your Name about 7 years ago and the ending made me cry like a baby. That was the first time I felt so emotional over an anime, but I haven't been able to watch it again since then... thank you for this reaction.
I watched this movie on my laptop in my high school library, it was a gap hour, and my friend INSISTED I should watch this movie, which i reluctantly agree since i got nothing better to do anyway... two hours later i literally have to hold my mouth shut just so i didn't bawl at the library... i legit skipped the last two period cause i legit couldn't function properly for the rest of the day
I'm a 67-year-old man, a fan of cyberpunk manga and anime ("Akira," "Ghost in the Shell," etc.), and I don't care much for teenage romantic stories. I find them boring and repetitive. But having watched "5 Centimeters per Second" and being impressed by Makoto Shinkai's cinematic and narrative style, I became curious about "Your Name" (Kimi no Na wa), though not particularly enthusiastic. No one prepared me for what I was about to experience. All my prejudices se fueron al carajo (in the Spanish language, it feels more authentic), and I laughed, I enjoyed myself, and I was moved just like you. Yes, I confess, the torrent of tears was inevitable when the "I love you" moment hit. I also cursed like never before as Mitsuha and Taki kept missing each other. Insultos y puteadas de todo tipo. And in the end, I screamed as if I were celebrating a goal at the stadium or in front of the TV. I must admit my guilty pleasure in recognizing my admiration for this movie-adolescent in nature but a true work of art, an incredible audiovisual spectacle with one of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard. Later, I read about the philosophical and mystical content of the movie, as well as the many elements deeply rooted in Japanese culture and religion, so far removed from our world. I live in Fray Bentos, Uruguay. Cheers, and thank you for sharing your emotions and your tears.
OMG I found an Uruguayan fellow in Flexie lands. Me too, I'm Uruguayan living in the capital. I'm sobbing and hiding my face under the sheets at 6 AM after watching this great reaction. Not sure why I had this brilliant idea of crushing myself so early in the morning hahah but I loved it. Thank you Flexie for your precious time and for sharing your thoughts about something that we love.
I think it's a great thing that we can all feel so invested, and relate to, such a story in which we differ so much from! It truly is beautiful, both the story, and how much the story itself touches us. I'm glad you're still trying new anime and manga from genres that you'd thought you'd hate, that's how I've found most of my favorites! Much love from America! ✌️💜
The part where she sees "I love you" written on her hand and then she says that it doesn't remind her of his name, that gave me a strong pang in my chest. 😢
Here's the ironic part : before twilight ended, she barely had time to draw one stroke on Taki's palm. That stroke isn't part of how you would begin writing her name .... but matches how you'd start writing "I love you". She had the same idea as Taki.
Fun fact: 1)In this film Your Name, a character from Kotonoha no Niwa (The Garden of Words) appeared as Mitsuha's literature teacher, that is, Yukari Yukino 2) The restaurant where Taki worked was "Il Giardiano Delle Parole" which simply translates to "The Garden Of Words" 3)Mitsuha's name means "three leaves" and follows a family trait. Her grandmother, Hitoha, is "one leaf," her mother, Futaba, is "two leaves," and her little sister, Yotsuha, is "four leaves. Watch "The Garden of Words" too; it's one of the finest works of Makoto Shinkai.
Garden of words and 5cm per second are 100 times beter than your name IMO, i mean your name is nice and good but having watched shinkai's past works left me with a meh feeling at the end xd and dont get me started on Voices from a distant Star
I love the connection between this movie and Japanese myth. About the sake that ties the souls, about a certain time at dusk when the branch of time intertwined, about the moon goddess who protect the message of love, etc. Insane.
Yes, and it's deeper than most people realize. You have to really dig in to the Japanese myths and traditions and you will find more meanings that we in the west miss. Her headband had more symbolism than we thought and it's great to find things out like this and to unravel the layers behind a story and you get that aha-feeling. If you don't know about it, check out the red string theory. I didn't know about this before I watched the movie. :)
@@minguin8897 You're welcome. Since I can't write long sentences in English, I wrote it in Japanese, but did the translation feature work well? Thank you for your interest.
I watched may be tens of reactions to this fabulous movie. Since I watched it first time many years ago, I am into it. I will be honest that your reaction is one of the best reactions. Because you seriously watched it and tried to figure out the plot step by step every scene, felt the emotions truly and reflected them. You spoke while watching but didnt disturb the flow. Thank you so much for your honest and beautiful reaction. Cheers. ❤
My theory as to why Taki couldn't remember much of his experiences while in Mitsuha's body is kind of like waking up from a dream. You remember it vividly just after waking up, but after some time, you start to forget the smaller or finer details of the dream, until everything just becomes a blur. The film did allude to the experience as "having a dream" after all.
There's also the part when they visited the god's shrine and the grandma explained that in order to leave the underworld and return to the real world, you have to leave your most valuable thing behind. This is why they had to forget each other's name after leaving the crater. It's not too far fetched to think that this rule also applied every time they left the other's body, which they interpreted as just not remembering dreams. Taki fully realized this, which is why he decided to write "I love you" in her palm : any other message or name would have been deleted by Musubi, but messages of love and affection are under absolute protection by the moon goddess in japanese mythology.
@@FantasticMrFrogNo Taki then would’ve not even bothered get mitsuha to write her name on his hand. Japanese viewers suspect when considering Japanese culture and the gods in their Taoism has a common temperament of disallowing every time but ‘youthful love.’ They think it’s one of the most purest and untouchable emotion that even gods cannot hinder with(like the tales of the moon ‘tsuki’ goddess- also commonly known as the goddess of tragic love in many different folks and tales). So they’ve given them a gift of at least living with a faint memory of being once loved. Then gods allow them as individuals to make the conscious decision to seek for that immaterial, faint and yet powerful yearn to find their true love
I literally just watched this for my first time exactly a week ago and it immediately became my favorite movie of all time! I love so much that you just watched this! (My dad got home from work right as the credits started rolling and found me on the couch with a face drowning in tears😅)
Wow, that must have shocked your Dad. Make him watch the film too! I hope you check out "Weathering with You" next! It has some nice Easter Eggs for "Your Name". @Jeet5672 Fun Fact: The Director of the film came out and said that Ms. Okudera, the woman Taki had a crush on, got married to Tsukasa Fujii, Taki's friend with glasses who came on the journey with them. Guess after they left Taki behind in Itomori, they really hit it off? They did show them having fun during the trip together. You can see a ring on Tsukasa's left hand for a split second in the future when they are drinking coffee. Also, Taki and Mitsuha are confirmed to have married and had a wedding ceremoy by 2024. They reunited on the staircase April 8th, 2022.
This movie debuted a coujple of months prior to one of my biz trips to Japan for work and I saw it on the plane 2x on the way there, and was just a sniffing mess, doing everything I could to not cry. Then I watched it again on the flight back 3x, and just let the tears flow. It is in my Top 5 anime of all time. Thank you for reacting to this, brought back some great memories.
This was one of the most beautiful reaction videos I've ever seen. Your comments and reactions to the movie, Your Name, is truly a marvelous one. Keep up the good work! This was a fun reaction video to watch.
This the best movie of any type, of any genre i have ever seen, it's perfect to me, I've seen it half a dozen times and i cry every time... in fact, i pre-cry... cos i know what's coming
"A Silent Voice" is usually the next big one to watch after Your Name, but be warned that it is not the same vibe as Your Name. You might cry more tears of sorrow than tears of joy.
"your name" squashed A Silent Voice due to coming out just before and taking all the thunder at the time. The director or "your name" in a very kind act, tweeted that he had just watched, "A Silent Voice" and Naoko Yamada (who was best known at the time for Kyon!!) has surpassed what he was able to do.
Sorrow, a lot of it when you realize that some of the crew that made A Silent Voice died in the Kyoto Animation arson attack . PD: I'm against the death penalty and don't usually drink much alcohol, but... I have a bottle of whiskey stashed away for the day the execution of that dude is announced.
I will never forget the massive gasp from the audience in my movie theater when Mitsuha saw her hand. THE TENSION AT THE END. People were screaming ehrn they keep crossing paths. Watching this for the first time is truly a gift. Not really knowing whats going on gets you deeply inmersed and even when you think you have it figured out they throw the time gap thing. Mind blowing. Beautiful animation. Beautiful score. Top tier storytelling. Epic love. This one has it all.
Ending always gets me, cried like a baby (and I am a 40+year old man). Saw it in the theatres and when the lights came on, the entire audience refused to move for almost 10 minutes trying collect ourselves and just process.
I cant imagine how powerfull must have been watching this on theater. It never came to my country. The only one was Suzume, wich is also terrific movie, but Your Name still stands umatched
Don't try to make yourself remember Don't look for me, I'm just a story you've been told So let's pretend a little longer And when you're gone.... everything goes on.
[before watching] lemme get the popcorn and tissues. [after watching] I wish I could cry so prettily. not many movies that can get me to smile while crying at the same time, this one does it easily. Thanks for giving it a chance!
I just watched this movie because I saw the thumbnail for your video and wanted to see it before watching your video. It’s so beautiful I can’t believe it. Thank you.
"this broke me." dont worry sister, we're all broken in that scene (you know which one). i was screaming at the top of my lung when they see each other at that train. they finally realize that they were searching for each other this whole time. i always cry like a baby every time i rewatch this masterpiece. maybe someday i'll find my Mitsuha.
I'm literally crying watching your reaction to the movie. It's like watching it all over again. Definitely one of the most beautiful anime I've ever seen, it always hits, ALWAYS
I am Japanese and I am interested in foreign reactions to Japanese anime and that is how I found you. This movie was one of the best animated films of my life as a junior high school student at the time. The reactions I feel to your work are so fresh that even once I have seen an anime, I find myself revisiting it after watching your videos.
All of the locations that appear in the movie "Your Name" are located in Japan, especially the final staircase scene, which takes place at Suga Shrine in Yotsuya, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. If you search for it, you will find photos.
I'm living nearby the model city of this movie. I remember well when that movie was released. In recently I met this anime reaction channle and now I'm watching this shows to study native English listening. I want to keep watchig the videos which released in this channle. Anyway, thank you for reacting our Japanese best MOVIE!!
I already wrote it, but because this reaction convinced me, that you would really enjoy it, i write it again: You should absolutly put Violet Evergarden on your Watchlist. Absolutly stunning visuals, beautiful soundtrack and it WILL make you cry.
Just watched this movie yesterday, and I just can't stop thinking about it, it was such a beautiful movie, that touches your heart in a way you didn't even know it was possible! They showed really well that even if the mind forgets, the heart never forgets those we love!
Since the Switch also happened to Mitsuha's Mother and Grandma, I like to think that the Switch between Taki and her was always meant to be bigger than "Oh, we're destined to fall in love," and more because they were meant to save all those lives. Them falling in love is such an amazing consequence and added bonus! It was their friendship (with each other and their friends) and chemistry that led to actually having their plan worked.
There's also the drawing of the comet in the shrine. So one of the cycles when the comet came before (1200, 2400, 3600 years ago) it happened before. And the shrine was probably created to honor the events.
I'm so glad that this was my first anime media years ago, all the guys would relate to this, but as a man we don't feel that much emotions in life to cry over things, it take some really tough incidents to get us emotional, this was one of those movies that literally made me shed tears like a baby, that scene when he look at his hand and he wrote "I love you" instead of his name, just broke me man 💔
I know everyone recommends movies from the same director like weathering with you but you should really watch hosoda mamoru’s films too. You name’s director, ghibli’s director, and hosoda are the big 3 of anime movies. I RLLY RLLY RLLY RECOMMEND THESE THREE - The girl who leaped through time - summer wars - wolf children See and compare the different directors since they diverge in style and theme!!
Gotta say this, that happy ending is really a big shock when its first airing. The Director, Makoto Shinkai, is infamous for heartbreaking ending. "Your Name" is his first happy ending movie.
I just love everything about this movie. The insane visuals and love for detail, the music, the humor and presentation of emotions. Even the open end is so incredibly well used here and I don't mind it at all. I adore this constant theme of fading dreams and memories and the longing for "something" connected to that. I think many of us had phases in our lives were we felt a bit helpless, in search for answers, not entirely sure what kind of answer we were looking for. Or for example the scene where he wrote "I love you" instead of his name, many people might think it's just a corny way for him to say I love you and I'm sure Taki himself just wanted to say it, but that's what saved them ultimately. Notice how both of them forgot the others name very quickly but were able to remember that there was someone they wanted to save, someone important, someone they can't give up on. That's because strong emotions like loving someone are much harder to forget than something like a name. So him writing "I love you" reminded her of these strong emotions and her motivation to keep pushing forward with determination, that's what convinced her father to listen. Makoto Shinkai is my favorite regisseur, comfortably lol And this movie was the first contact I had with his movies. I saw his next 2 movies in theater (Weathering With You and Suzume) and just the visuals alone are enough to recommend these movies to everybody lmao Crazy to think that every single frame of most of his movies are hand drawn, it's just WILD (like Your Name for example).
Hello. I am Japanese. I am writing this text using the translation function. I saw this movie when I was a student and was very impressed. I bought and read the novelized book that was released just before the movie came out, and then watched the movie. That “I love you...” I shed tears in the theater. Director Shinkai is one of the best in the Japanese animation industry at using light in his films. He is my favorite animation director.
Even if they both forgot each other, even if the memories were lost, their love for each never faded away. That is why they were crying in the end even if they are strangers to each other. Their minds forgot but their hearts didn't.
I cant say this enough, i truly love this movie. I watched this on the plane on my way home from helping rebuild Puerto Rico after a hurricane. The massive KNOT on my throat was as big as my head, to try not to break down in public while watching this.
There are very few moments when I have to cry while watching series and movies. You can almost count them on one hand, but this movie really managed to evoke such emotions in me. For me, it is a masterpiece.
I've already lost count how many times i've rewatched this by myself, with my friends, and with reactors here in yt and it still never fails to make me emotional. The music is my favorite part of it
Loved the reaction and also that you could actually keep up with the plot and not be completely lost like soooo many other reactors I've seen. Here's some recommendations that I think you'll enjoy and so will the viewers: - A Silent Voice (sad romance, natural next step after Your Name) - I want to eat your Pancreas (another sad romance) More great romances from Makoto Shinkai (Your Name): - 5 cm per second - The Garden of Words - Grave of the Fireflies (sad, sad ,sad, you said you've watched Ghibli but idk if you meant only Miyazaki films, anyway this one's THE most heartbreaking film you'll never want to watch again) - Akira (sci-fi, action, psychological, the most influential and iconic movie ever) And lastly, everything by the GOAT Satoshi Kon: - Perfect Blue - Tokyo Godfathers - Millennium Actress - Paprika Edit: Oh and Also watch the new film by CSM author Tatsuki Fujimoto - Look Back (sad but also heartwarming)
This is the most beautiful movie ever made. All the music was made just for this sole movie to match up everything happening in it. I can watch it every time and feel so overwhelmed by all those feelings. And the animation in on another level!
1:06:16 oh girl, I’ve seen this movie a half dozen times and I am still ugly crying. I think this may be my favorite movie. It’s a complete masterpiece.
i have seen this about 10 times and its tears and sobbing everytime!!! that damn amazing RADWIMPS song even gets me every time thanks to this damn movie lol
The band that did the soundtrack and score, Radwimps, did a special performance of the music live to the movie and it's incredible. You can't understand the scope of how talented the band actually is until you watch them live bouncing between instruments and positions all while playing perfectly to the second and hitting every note
You really picked a good one to start the Journey w/ Makoto Shinkai's movies. He's such a talented director, although some of his movies are hard to get the point. I will personally suggest "5 Centimetres per Second", "Children Who Chase Lost Voices" and "The Garden of Words". These 3 are the masterpieces before Makoto Shinkai became super famous. You can tell a more stylistic way of story telling by using trains from Makoto Shinkai. You can also find some Easter eggs in this movie from his previous movies.
Absolutely Suzume after this one. They took the development of this art style to the absolute next level in Suzume and still told such an awesome story.
I watched this movie during lockdown back in 2020. I didn’t cry until after I finished it. There I was at 2am, alone and in complete darkness, staring at nothing, feeling a sense of emptiness and longing for something or someone… And the tears just started running down, non stop. To this day, no other piece of media has made me feel like this movie. I’ve cried of sadness for characters in other shows and movies, but never had I felt as intimately touched by a story this way. It’s just such a masterpiece!
There are small hints that they are in a different timeline when switching bodies, but it's really hard to notice in the first watch. In the beginning of the movie, when the politics are eating at Tessie's house and he says "I smell corruption", in the scene right after that you can see the calendar behind him, it's 2013. When Mitsuha is in Taki's body for the first time and she's at the door of his classroom, peeking inside, there's a poster on the wall and it says 2016.
I remember watching this movie back in 2016, in cinemas with my Ex. Now both of us like strangers who never met before and already like forgeting each other name. ah dayum, this movie is amazing, the animation was so perfect especially worked before 2016, hope 2025 there will be more amazing movie, and I wishing for the sequel.
I love Makato Shinkai as a writer/director. His work is amazing. He creates films that focus on what separates people that would otherwise be drawn together. I think this is his first film with a happy ending actually. “A Silent Voice”, “Weathering with You”, and “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” are excellent choices to watch next. Also… “Weathering with You” has cameos of Mitsuha and Taki if that’s a little incentive… see if you can pick them out!
Flexie, I'm absolutely in love with your genuine reactions! sometimes I am shocked how good your intuition is that you guess a lot of things in advance, even in Naruto! I would like you to watch THE BOY AND THE BEAST! Thank you=)
This movie is just such an absolute gem! The story, art and music are absolute perfection. An insane roller-coaster ride of emotion. Your reaction to it was just absolutely adorable lol. When she opens her hand and sees "I love you" literally broke me.
Mitsuha set up a date between taki and miki, she cried because she didn't want that to actually happen because she developed feelings for him but did it anyway because they're pretty much friends. She was heartbroken so she cut her hair.
How beautiful and lovely are those crying and laughing expressions of yours! I understand that you were indeed a ballet dancer and a professional of expression. Your fan base is growing considerably in Japan now!
you made it to #1 on my list of reactors for this film. plus you commented on the end song longer than anyone else. please look up the end song with orchestra. it is worth it. Rad Wimps composed every song that broke your heart
I thoroughly love this film. A masterpiece 'tis indeed. And I want to add that, ever since watching it, I've been listening to its soundtrack while reading One Piece, and it is uncanny how fitting to its story it is.
they were able to meet thru the magic of the Golden Hour. She will remember in no time and will help him with realize the conundrum he has for the past 5 years. other notable anime movies i could recall now are Grave of the Fireflies , Girl who leapt thru time, Weathering With You, Fireworks, Should We See It From the Side or Bottom (Uchiage Hanabi)
It was a great experience watching this beautiful anime unfold with you! I always wanted to watch it with someone special but never had that 'someone' by my side! Thanks for reacting to this anime and sharing your experience with us! Take care! ( and i am not crying 🥹)
Oh wow I just watched this the other day. One of my all time faves. Glad you loved it! Thank you for sharing your moments with us. My eyes were sweating hard
I remember watching this in the theater in 2016. During that scene when Mitsuha tripped, then slowly opened her hand to see what Taki wrote, there was such an audible gasp from the audience followed by barely contained sobs lol. Truly a once in a lifetime anime.
Man this reaction is so good!! You know, I've always been a fan of Studio Ghibli movies for a long time. I think they're amazing and even with the coming of 3D movies, especially Pixar's, Ghibli movies always have their own standard and no animated films can top them in my list of my favourite films. But after I saw Your Name for the first time, this movie killed me. The animation is stunning, the story and its twist are mind blowing and the music is overwhelming and I don't think there's gonna be other anime films that can top this in 10 or 20 years. Thank you so much for reacting to this. I love this movie and love your reaction ❤❤🥰
Thank you for the reaction!! I absolutely adore this movie... it started my whole anime experience about 5 years ago. I vividly remember that when the movie ended, I was just sitting there thinking what have I just experienced!! The emotions swirling around inside me were just wild!! I had never felt like this before... and I was hooked!!
Nice to meet you. I always enjoy watching your reactions in foreign reaction compilations. Thank you for watching many Japanese works. The work you watched this time is by director Makoto Shinkai, and it is also one of my favorites. I also recommend 'Weathering With You' and 'Suzume's Door Lock' from director Makoto Shinkai. I would be happy if you could watch them when you have time. I am inputting this text using a translation app, so I apologize if the sentences are unclear. From a Japanese fan.
THIS BROKE ME.... completely shattered me..... this was an incredibly special experience. I hope you all enjoy this! I'm so happy to bring this Movie to the channel before the end of the year - and I hope to watch many more in 2025! But thank you all so much for this recommendation. I can't stop thinking about how beautiful this was....
one of the best anime films out there. I really recommend checking on makoto and ghibli's filmography
I'm so glad you enjoyed this! This is one of those anime/movies that for me, transcends any of its plotholes it may have.. it's all about the feelings it brings and reminds you of!
they did end up together tho , so why r you shattered ?
A movie worth watching multiple times but yet again you want to forget that you've seen it. Cause the 1st time is the best one.
"I want to Eat your pancreas" you're only one who didn't react to it, im still waiting for you, and I'm so ready for it.
8 years later and that "i love you" scene is still a nuke to my heart
8 YEARS???!!!
@@wahidahmad2577 Yes it was released in 2016
Its a punch to the throat that still gets me every single time
8 years 😭 I remember seeing it in theaters like it was just a year or two ago.

Thank you for this explanation
Ohhh, thank you for this explanation !!
Wow, that's even more beautiful!
we do have that idiom in English too! language is so beautiful
you explained too well, and its not hard to understand at all, thanks for taking the time
We don't have an equivalent, but many are aware of the Japanese idiom. Your comment is lovely, have a nice day.

same, i watched some sad anime before and thought i was immune, but then the music and scenes just had me bawling.
thanks for my 8th re-watch. it gets me every single time
I'm a 67-year-old man, a fan of cyberpunk manga and anime ("Akira," "Ghost in the Shell," etc.), and I don't care much for teenage romantic stories.
Cheers, and thank you for sharing your emotions and your tears.
bro 5cm per second also introduced me to Shinkai
5 cm per second was just too sad 😭. Same with garden of words
私はフットボールもこの映画も愛しているので貴方と同じ反応をしたことを思い出しました。日本からありがとうを込めて。
I think it's a great thing that we can all feel so invested, and relate to, such a story in which we differ so much from! It truly is beautiful, both the story, and how much the story itself touches us. I'm glad you're still trying new anime and manga from genres that you'd thought you'd hate, that's how I've found most of my favorites! Much love from America! ✌️💜
This,
Weathering with you
Suzume
And a silent voice are must watch films
Yes!! i would also add "i want to eat your pancreas" to this list.
And "I want to eat your pancreas" too😭
Agree with this!! Follow up immediately with Weathering with You. Then A Silent Voice
Silent voice and Weathering with you are great movie. But i always feel a lil bit disappointed about Suzume's storyline.
W comment 🙏🔥🔥🔥
The part where she sees "I love you" written on her hand and then she says that it doesn't remind her of his name, that gave me a strong pang in my chest. 😢
Also realize that those words transcended time since everything else was wiped out with the new timeline.
Here's the ironic part : before twilight ended, she barely had time to draw one stroke on Taki's palm. That stroke isn't part of how you would begin writing her name .... but matches how you'd start writing "I love you". She had the same idea as Taki.
@@FantasticMrFrog Mitsuha's name is 三葉, which does have a horizontal stroke, so it really can't be said definitively unless Shinkai confirms it
for me its the more importan part of the movie and some subs versions its missing
Fun fact:
1)In this film Your Name, a character from Kotonoha no Niwa (The Garden of Words) appeared as Mitsuha's literature teacher, that is, Yukari Yukino
2) The restaurant where Taki worked was "Il Giardiano Delle Parole" which simply translates to "The Garden Of Words"
3)Mitsuha's name means "three leaves" and follows a family trait. Her grandmother, Hitoha, is "one leaf," her mother, Futaba, is "two leaves," and her little sister, Yotsuha, is "four leaves.
Watch "The Garden of Words" too; it's one of the finest works of Makoto Shinkai.
めちゃくちゃ詳しいですね…
Garden of words and 5cm per second are 100 times beter than your name IMO, i mean your name is nice and good but having watched shinkai's past works left me with a meh feeling at the end xd and dont get me started on Voices from a distant Star
@@IzualRivasTaverait depends on you want to feel depressed or only sad 😂 but i like them all ... But suzume is a little behind for me at least.
The two main characters from this movie also appear in the background at a cafe in Weathering With You iirc.
Your name >>5cm per second>>>Garden of words
@Fedor2222-z3h Interesting! Thank you for sharing this ❤
@@minguin8897 You're welcome. Since I can't write long sentences in English, I wrote it in Japanese, but did the translation feature work well? Thank you for your interest.
@@Fedor2222-z3h Yes, the translation worked well. It's nice learning more about the Japanese culture as my knowledge of it is only superficial.
Aaaah! Oh no! lol Your poor dad - Well thank you so much for being here and for crying with meeeeee
@@FlexiejayAnimeplease A Silent Voice and Anohana next time.
Wow, that must have shocked your Dad. Make him watch the film too!
I hope you check out "Weathering with You" next! It has some nice Easter Eggs for "Your Name". @Jeet5672
Fun Fact: The Director of the film came out and said that Ms.

The FAs:
- that passenger is crying non stop.
-Nah, he/she's watching Your Name"
-Understandable
Between A Silent Voice and Your Name. 2017 was a wild year for amazing super high budget romance movies.
Don't forget "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas" the peak romance 📈
Sorrow, a lot of it when you realize that some of the crew that made A Silent Voice died in the Kyoto Animation arson attack .
PD: I'm against the death penalty and don't usually drink much alcohol, but... I have a bottle of whiskey stashed away for the day the execution of that dude is announced.
Yeah just like Grave of the Fireflies, it's so good you just can't watch it again
Don't try to make yourself remember
Don't look for me, I'm just a story you've been told
So let's pretend a little longer
And when you're gone.... everything goes on.
Best Christmas present ever!!!!
The "I love you" never fails to pay off. And I love laughing at reactors at the end of the movie because I remember how STRESSFUL it was
[before watching] lemme get the popcorn and tissues.
THIS MOVIE WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME BY MY DAUGHTER...IT WAS SO GOOD THAT IT'S WHAT GOT ME INTO ANIME.
Just watched this movie yesterday, and I just can't stop thinking about it, it was such a beautiful movie, that touches your heart in a way you didn't even know it was possible! They showed really well that even if the mind forgets, the heart never forgets those we love!
This movie is honestly one of my favorite films of all time, and is easily the one I've rewatched the most. It's just. MMMMM ITS SO GOOD.
It was their friendship (with each other and their friends) and chemistry that led to actually having their plan worked.
it also happened to their ancestor that accidently burned down the shrine when they woke up and didn't know who they were.
There's also the drawing of the comet in the shrine. So one of the cycles when the comet came before (1200, 2400, 3600 years ago) it happened before. And the shrine was probably created to honor the events.
I've never clicked on my RUclips notifications this harder before😂
This is my favourite movie up to this day ❤❤
Great reaction! One of the best of the many I’ve seen to Your Name! Your reaction to the “I Love You” reveal was everyone that’s seen it
From JAPAN with Love 💖
I still remember 5 years ago when I saw this movie it was 2 am and I was crying like a baby.
same this was best i movie ever seen and it been two years i watched it, it is just soo beautifull and keep a special place in my heart.
I'm so glad that this was my first anime media years ago, all the guys would relate to this, but as a man we don't feel that much emotions in life to cry over things, it take some really tough incidents to get us emotional, this was one of those movies that literally made me shed tears like a baby, that scene when he look at his hand and he wrote "I love you" instead of his name, just broke me man 💔
57:02 that moment will be, forever, one of the best tear jerkers in anime
FOR REALL THE WAY THE MUSIC PLAY AGAIN WHEN SHE SAW THE WORD 😭😭😭
I know everyone recommends movies from the same director like weathering with you but you should really watch hosoda mamoru’s films too. You name’s director, ghibli’s director, and hosoda are the big 3 of anime movies. I RLLY RLLY RLLY RECOMMEND THESE THREE
- The girl who leaped through time
- summer wars
- wolf children
See and compare the different directors since they diverge in style and theme!!
YESS SUMMER WARS IS MY FAVV
Ya i think she’ll rlly love this director if she cried this much for your name😭😭
Yeah he's so underrated for how much he contributed to the movie industry
Gotta say this, that happy ending is really a big shock when its first airing.
The Director, Makoto Shinkai, is infamous for heartbreaking ending.
"Your Name" is his first happy ending movie.
Genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time; been waiting for this one!
Here's some recommendations that I think you'll enjoy and so will the viewers:
- A Silent Voice (sad romance, natural next step after Your Name)
- I want to eat your Pancreas (another sad romance)
More great romances from Makoto Shinkai (Your Name):
- 5 cm per second
- The Garden of Words
- Grave of the Fireflies (sad, sad ,sad, you said you've watched Ghibli but idk if you meant only Miyazaki films, anyway this one's THE most heartbreaking film you'll never want to watch again)
- Akira (sci-fi, action, psychological, the most influential and iconic movie ever)
And lastly, everything by the GOAT Satoshi Kon:
- Perfect Blue
- Tokyo Godfathers
- Millennium Actress
- Paprika
Edit: Oh and Also watch the new film by CSM author Tatsuki Fujimoto
- Look Back (sad but also heartwarming)
If you haven't yet, I definitely recommend watching Weathering With You and Suzume. They were both made by the same director of Your Name
1:06:11 Me? oh, i've seen this movie like ten times and cried like a baby everytime. I love this movie.
Great reaction. The story, characters, and animation are top tier, but the freaking OST amplifies it to another level. RADWIMPS with a masterclass.
Girl your gasp at the "I love you" is so real, I remember crying and laughing all together
Great way to start the year. Kinda movie you never forget.
i have seen this about 10 times and its tears and sobbing everytime!!! that damn amazing RADWIMPS song even gets me every time thanks to this damn movie lol
This was such a fun ride, thank you.
I love how quickly you figured out the swapping but kept doubting yourself. So fun!❤
I have watched this movie multiple times, years ago, yet it still made me cry, and I am just watching you watch it!!!!

I remember watching this in the theater in 2016. During that scene when Mitsuha tripped, then slowly opened her hand to see what Taki wrote, there was such an audible gasp from the audience followed by barely contained sobs lol. Truly a once in a lifetime anime.
This movie is based on the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011. Watching this movie brings back many memories and brings me to tears.

What a perfect surprise this morning 😭my favorite anime movie.
