Well he actually died at age 82, and had not appeared in public for a couple of years before that. I believe this was his 80th birthday tribute in December 1995. He had stopped performing earlier that year because his health issues were making it impossible to tour any more. (There were two incidents in 1994 when he collapsed during performances; that was the deciding factor). His daughter Tina said that he didn't want to appear on this program, and that he particularly disliked having other people sing his songs to him. According to Tina, he only did it as a favor to his friend George Slaughter, who produced it, because it was hard for him to say no.

@@dave00004483 I wasn't aware that he didn't want to be there, he was also suffering from dementia which was released after his death, but you can tell in a split second that his eyes lit up as he hung on to that end note before swinging the microphone around, you could tell he was at least happy to be in that moment.

What I suspect Tina meant but didn't say, out of politeness, was that Frank didn't care for many of the performers on the program. I saw the broadcast and recall Frank's expression after hearing Bob Dylan, whose "singing" is as far as one can get from Sinatra. Frank's expression was like WTF was that?

Despite being 79 or 80 years old at the time of this performance... he can still hold a long note. I may not of been there when this occured 25 or 26 years or so ago, but when I first watched this clip, I actually felt teary eyed (I am getting teary eyed right now typing this up 😢) , and now I kind of wish I was not born in the 21st century and I wish I was alive to see this legend from when he was that the bottom of the ladder to when he was at the top... It would of been an honour to meet him in person. At this point, he is basically my idol. R.I.P Frank Sinatra, aka Ol' Blues Eyes, aka The Voice, aka The Chairman of the Board. As well as all most everyone on that stage, but Frank Sinatra is the one that will be missed for the rest of mine and everyone lifetimes, and the future generations 100 or more years from now will still know this legend... And yes... I may be in the United Kingdom, but he was still highly popular over here, touching many hearts, including from people who were not even alive in the 20th Century, and that includes mine... 😢🇬🇧😢

@Bullwinkle J. Moose yes ofc . He became famous at 25/26 and the fame runs to this date. He is the only teen idol who went to become a superstar later on. I told you before he sings with emotions not plain words. Let me put it this way. If I was sad or heartbroken or happy or raging, he sounds just like I would if I was singing. That means he has an unique power of Expression. In his own words he said " I believe I'm honest when I'm singing, everything else said about me is unimportant". This is not WAP bullshit. Simply the best of the best music. Maybe if you stick to listening to him you'll understand him more and more. The way I viewed his singing a year ago has drastically changed when I learnt and heard more of him.😌

Wow, to be in his late 70s or early 80s and still be able to:
    A. Have the same voice
And B. Still be able to hold a note like an boss
is beyond me. This just shows how much I think Frank Sinatra wasn’t actually a person and was just an angel, even before he died.

I recently heard, I think right here on YooToob, the best story I've ever heard about Sinatra. It actually brought a tear to my eye:
This was on one of his final tours if not _the_ last tour. During a show, he went to do the next song, raised the mic to his face, and drew a breath, and nothing came out. He just simply blanked on the lyric. It just didn't come to him. The band went silent, and so did the audience. And Frank just paced back and forth across the stage, whispering into the microphone, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...."
Right then, a man in the audience stood up and shouted out, "That's okay, Frank, we love you anyway!" And then the entire audience stood up, shouting out the same thing as they gave him a thunderous standing ovation.
Obviously very moved, Frank launched into his next song, *_The Best is yet To come_*

    Frank Sinatra, y Luis Miguel,..
    " Fly with me.."

I've just seen this, quite sad to see him move so slow. I saw Frank when he came to the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1992 when he was 76 and he still sang so powerfully, I was amazed as I've seen many singer's long past their prime who don't sound so good. A few do, but not many and Frank was astonishing still then. Looks like this is four years later. Here we are more than 20 years later and we still miss him so much. What a legacy.
