9:25 as far as peppers. If you want a larger crop. When the pepper plant is around 6 inches tall. Cut the growing tip off. It’ll promote the plant to grow multiple chutes. Which in turn you’ll have more flowers/peppers.

I really love the showing of your garden. I like that you showed us how you planted with the worm castings and then get to see how the vegetables are growing. I feel like it just adds to the our motivation to see how this all works beginning to end 🤙🏽 Thanks Captain Matt!

This year I have been consistent about using worm casting tea weekly, only missed a couple weeks.
The point is all the plants are perfectly green, it is July 25th and I have yet had to pluck the lower leaves off of the tomatoes which are usually yellowed by now. The tomatoes and peppers are producing record amounts of fruits.
Thanks for showing and talking about compost, worms get a lot of nutrition from compost and when compost is used as bedding the worms are very healthy. I encourage people to use wastepaper as bedding along with food scraps (on a smaller scale), but the truth is the paper provides absolutely no nutritional value for the worms, none at all. In those cases, they get nutrition from the food scraps. I really like to see compost used at a larger scale because it shows me how serious a person is with their worms. I know when a person is willing to pick up compost by the truckload, they really care about their worms and the quality of castings being produced. The only thing I suggest is incorporating BTI into the compost so that if a customer uses them on indoor houseplants, they never say they got fungus gnats from your castings.
I have a little I would like to say about beddings, bedding such as coco coir and sphagnum peat moss are ok, but they are dead, (sphagnum peat moss is baked in an oven) they have no life in them, it is ok, life can always be reintroduced, but it takes a longer turnover. Native compost and native peat are full of life, full of living organisms which in the end, is a better-quality casting with a faster turnout.
Have a wonderful day Captain Matt 👍👍

Agreed on compost... it's not just bedding - it's nutrition as well. Worms for life... I've learned a lot from your comments. Thank you for sharing so freely.

@@CaptainMattsWorms Captain Matt, I have learned from you to, and more importantly other people are learning from you, and they are excited about what you are teaching. 👍👍
As far as using worm casting tea in the garden, I missed last week because of excess rain but have been consistent this year using it weekly, and my tomatoes still have all their lower leaves, and they are still nice and green. Most years I would just use the casting tea on the garden if and when there are problems. Previous years, by now the tomatoes are missing the bottom 2 feet of lower leaves. I have been using castings in the garden for years (very liberally) and thought the results were great, but I will say the results of casting tea weekly are absolutely amazing!
Thank you for uploading these great videos.
      Have a Great Day!

If you are doing 60 buckets at 21 days, do you do 60 buckets every 21 days or 20 buckets every 7 days?
Thanks for showing your garden it is important to show the results and you have excellent results.
Worm castings are the best fertilizer on planet earth.

Hey Worms for Life… typically staggered - so all the work does not come at once. Leaning more toward 2 weeks these days to ensure hatching does not happen in the bucket. Agreed! Thanks for all the experience and advice you share!

    • @wormsforlife7352
      @wormsforlife7352 2 года назад +1

@@CaptainMattsWorms Yeah, if you are having cocoons hatch before 21 days defiantly go for 14 days. I like every 7 days that way the day after harvesting castings I can set up the bedding for the next week (6 days later) and that gives it time to cool down after mixing in the chow. So, if doing 60 buckets, that is 30 buckets a week. It is amazing on how fast a large number of castings can be produced with buckets in a short amount of time. The only 2 rules are the bedding has to be shredded/pulverized and or screened and the bedding has to be Compost or Peat. (It can be aged manures and that works as well)
When I use compost that is when I use the pond enzymes because of the ammonia smells.
I once picked up a yard of compost and did the normal thing, about 3 days later the worms were exiting the bucket side holes and they were split in half. The bedding had an ammonia smell, and it melted the worm's guts. The pond enzymes neutralized the ammonia smells and allowed my worms to eat up the rest of that yard. Now I always use pond enzymes when using compost.
      Have a wonderful Day!

I wonder how the green water would do feeding a worm tea? Also if you had a pump in the bucket you could cycle the water, only having to stop to clear that metal filter basket.
