@@LiveThatAdventure its an amazing hike. I found your channel by chance looking for beginner canyoneering vids as its something I want to get into. thanks for awesome content and information. and as a local to Vegas maybe ill see you on the trails whenever you come over. have blessed day. :)
@@kingdomawesome2067 Canyoneering is so much fun! If you are going to get into it we highly recommend either taking a class or at least going with an experienced group. So, in 2015, I did this with my daughter. Came across the "springs maintenance man", a retired gent who wintered in Boulder and took care of the sandbags etc. And also was buck naked all the time. Anyone else come across him. I think he was there in 2019 when I returned.
Remember stopping at the Arizona H S with the Japanese exchange student with the boat. Met a couple of hikers that ran out of water. But we had ice cold watermelon and cold drinks. Then gave em a boat ride to willow and drove them back to there car at the trailhead. That was before they closed the trail in the hot season.
Las Vegas NV. Troop 96 did this hike at night and in the Summer of 1976. Looks different in the daytime for sure. And they finally replaced that rusty ass ladder!
Love this video. I have taken this hike a few times and have visited Gold Strike canyon many times. Did you know there is a cave north of where Gold Strike Canyon meets the River? The cave is actually an old tunnel made by engineers testing the canyon walls to see if the dam could be built there, but there was too much hot spring water flowing into the tunnel, so they abandoned it and built the dam further upriver. People have dammed up the lower portion of the cave entrance to collect the spring water. The tunnel goes far enough into the canyon wall that it gets pitch black inside.
Thank you! We love this hike! It's so funny because it's only in the last couple years that we have discovered just hope many great hikes are deep close to Vegas. I have seen video of the cave before, but we haven't been to it. You can only access it by boat right?
From Goldstrike Canyon, you can wade through the river if the water level is low enough. The last time I went, the water was about chest high on me. I am 6'. I've seen the level higher, and I've seen it lower.
Depending on where you drop your kayak. If you're dropping Upstream from Hoover Dam, you have to go with a certified company. If you're dropping at Willow Beach, I believe it is free. But it's a long way to paddle upstream.
@@freyafoxmusic I don't think you can just buy a permit. I believe you have to go through a certified kayak rental company since the dropoff site is inside a restricted area.
@@LiveThatAdventure Thx! Guess I'll need to get back someday when the kids moved out of my house 😅. But right now I have no other choice than to visit during the hot summer months because of the school holidays.
@@ronhanish I just checked alltrails and evidently some did sat that they did do some sort of offroading out there. Not sure if it was a jeep or dirtbike. We have been twice and didn't see any offroad toys. Just be sure to do your research before ya go. We don't wanna see anyone get in trouble.
Here's a little more Hot spring Etiquette, keep your cameras out and let the people who are there have thier privacy. Other than that it was a good video.
nowadays theres a staircase there. no more ladder. this is my favorite trail here in vegas.
We actually went a few months back and experienced the ladder as well. Definitely a lil less sketchy :). Such a nice hike!

That's super cool of you to do that! It's crazy that people go out there with so little water! They lucked out when they ran into you!
Wow ! I didn't know there was a hot spring in Arizona !! 👍😀💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Pretty crazy huh!? AZ has so many hidden awesome spots. :)
Hot springs and a Mermaid 🧜♀️.
Definitely a thumbs up 👍.

Wooww, at night? That's pretty awesome. We bet it looks way different at night vs. morning! The new ladder definitely helps! 😊
Thank you for this video it is definitely helping me decide which hike to do as I’m laying in my car at Hoover Dam camping

We are looking forward to going there Monday. Not sure if the ladder there. Cross fingers. Thanks for the great information ❤
Hey Michelle! Have a great hike! Last we heard, they had actually replaced the little ladder with a metal staircase! Hopefully, that's there! :)
How was it ?!
Fantastic narration!
Thank you so much! My radio communications degree finally paid off! :D
So, to get things clear, I'm not allowed to do any of these trails when I'm visiting in August? That's just BS!
Unfortunately you are correct. On the bright side, you will still be alive. That hike would be super deadly in August.
