    So, in 2015, I did this with my daughter. Came across the "springs maintenance man", a retired gent who wintered in Boulder and took care of the sandbags etc. And also was buck naked all the time. Anyone else come across him. I think he was there in 2019 when I returned.

    Remember stopping at the Arizona H S with the Japanese exchange student with the boat. Met a couple of hikers that ran out of water. But we had ice cold watermelon and cold drinks. Then gave em a boat ride to willow and drove them back to there car at the trailhead. That was before they closed the trail in the hot season.

    Las Vegas NV. Troop 96 did this hike at night and in the Summer of 1976. Looks different in the daytime for sure. And they finally replaced that rusty ass ladder!

    Love this video.
    I have taken this hike a few times and have visited Gold Strike canyon many times.
    Did you know there is a cave north of where Gold Strike Canyon meets the River? The cave is actually an old tunnel made by engineers testing the canyon walls to see if the dam could be built there, but there was too much hot spring water flowing into the tunnel, so they abandoned it and built the dam further upriver.
    People have dammed up the lower portion of the cave entrance to collect the spring water. The tunnel goes far enough into the canyon wall that it gets pitch black inside.

      Thank you! We love this hike! It's so funny because it's only in the last couple years that we have discovered just hope many great hikes are deep close to Vegas. I have seen video of the cave before, but we haven't been to it. You can only access it by boat right?

    • @glenncrider2566
      @glenncrider2566 11 месяцев назад

      From Goldstrike Canyon, you can wade through the river if the water level is low enough. The last time I went, the water was about chest high on me. I am 6'. I've seen the level higher, and I've seen it lower.

      @@glenncrider2566 wow I didn't know that was an option. Thanks for the info. If it was chest high on you, Vy might need to bring a snorkel 🤣

    Do you need a permit to kayak down it

    • @LiveThatAdventure
      @LiveThatAdventure  Год назад +2

      Depending on where you drop your kayak. If you're dropping Upstream from Hoover Dam, you have to go with a certified company. If you're dropping at Willow Beach, I believe it is free. But it's a long way to paddle upstream.

    • @freyafoxmusic

    • @LiveThatAdventure
      @LiveThatAdventure  Год назад

      @@freyafoxmusic I don't think you can just buy a permit. I believe you have to go through a certified kayak rental company since the dropoff site is inside a restricted area.

    Here's a little more Hot spring Etiquette, keep your cameras out and let the people who are there have thier privacy. Other than that it was a good video.
