    I did one of those 8’x8’ ? Stain grade! I said no more! It’s a bear hauling around ? I was in my little shop ( converted garage & it’s cool I hv everything for small jobs) . Those are really tough jobs & your work is right out there for everyone to see? Like putting “no see stitches” in a movie stars face!
    You nailed it I hope you made bank you earned it!

    Love the paint color. I build very similar except I build the face frames first with pocket holes and they are glued to the carcass. Those long runs are tough so I love the chamfer in the style of Norm Abram where you don’t try to hide a seam, you celebrate it. 🤙🏼

    • @NE_woodworks
      @NE_woodworks  Месяц назад +1

      Haha good ole Norm! I typically build faceframes glued and pocket screwed as well.

    Nice work! I’m just a DIYer and building a decent sized built in bookcase for our lounge. I’m using 18mm Ply and have a question about face frame widths. I will have a mixture of 18mm and 36mm edges to cover for both the carcasses and the shelves. I was planning on using 40mm x 18mm timber for the frame. How do you decide where to leave the overhangs and how big they should be?

    • @NE_woodworks
      @NE_woodworks  Месяц назад

      Nice. On this build I had all my face frame parts flush with the boxes

    • @LincolnWoodworks
      @LincolnWoodworks Месяц назад +1

      Flush is good, and that's why he did a chamfer on the inside edges. 1/4" to 1/2" overhang also does look good as well.

    Hey man, your presentation is really good and well done. I live on Long Island and do exactly the kind of work you do and have the same gear and shop for the most part. Little weird in a way haha. Looking forward to your spray booth video. I’m getting my from the same guy in Texas and I think exactly what you have so selfishly speaking will be great for me. Awesome build, would love to see the install process for this one. The double biscuit technique for scribing is a good one too, I haven't come across that before but makes perfect sense. Curious, do you have any recommended resources that helped you learn cabinetry/built-ins? I'm consuming everything I can find but any recommendations would be appreciated (books, videos, etc.)? Thanks and looking forward to the next video.

      I worked in a custom shop for years. Honestly that’s the best way to learn. Hands on and you’ll get to build cool stuff.

    How much paint did you use on this project? I actually have this sprayer and tried doing cabinets once and noticed it used a lot more than if I just brushed. I’m no expert by any means lol. Awesome cabinet!!

    • @NE_woodworks
      @NE_woodworks  Месяц назад +2

      Thanks. It definitely uses more paint. You get a bit of overspray. I used 3 gallons of primer and 4 gallons of paint. A lot of surface area to hit

    How do you hold your face frame pieces when spraying since they are not real wide? I always struggle on figuring out how to hold the small pieces like crown and trim when spray finishing. I like how you attach the face frame pieces after the carcasses are installed.

    Awesome build! I’m a solo builder as well and use the X5. What primer were you using? I was using the SW high build but I found no matter what amount of time in between coats (even days) the second coat always gets horrible dimples, more than what a fish eye or orange peel looks like. Maybe that dusting of the first coat would remedy that. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Quick story brother! I was trimming out these two doctors home up here in Nor Cal Chico! I am on that same ladder you hv ? ( a big giant ladder great 4’ folds out to 7’ for wall cabinets) I am doing a craftsman trim making the head pieces? I hv all these numbers swimming in my head while standing at the top with my bags on! ( I wear bags they are custom bags by Akibus; I am one of those guys that throws things when I can’t find things?). I step off that ladder like I am on the floor and down 4’? I hv a mini square like yours in my pouch and on the way down turns and stabbed me in the side like an inch in?
    The doctor ( I am working for) says “ ahh no lung puncture put a bandaid on it” ? So I did ! Still have a nice scar! I almost stabbed myself to death after all I done & lived? Stabbed by a Starret square !
