  • We traded our royal palm turkeys for some peacocks. One of the turkey hens attacked and killed a baby chicken so we decided to rehome them.
We got an India blue male along with a pied male and a pied female. They are so gorgeous.
We found some panels on fb market place. We repurposed them and made a huge enclosure for our new peafowl.
    I hope you enjoy.

If you wait till they are roosting to catch them might decrease chance of injuries.

This is beautiful. I would like to know, please, is it not safe to just let one's peafowl roam freely and roost in the trees at night?
I am planning on letting my peafowl do that, but please talk me out of it if the odds are against them being able to thrive that way. Thanks.

You have to have them for awhile before you let them out, otherwise they'll just wander and you'll never see them again. I'd pen them for a year or so. Also when you do let them out it's a good idea to bring them in at night as it's safer for them. There's lots of predators that will attack them.

Beautiful birds. The older a peacock gets the bigger the eyes get is what I have heard. It's great that you are recycling and reusing. Do you have a place for the peahens to nest? I know they usually nest on the ground under bushes and shrubs.

I made a nest for her out of a wooden spool. I will show it in a later video. I don't think I can add pics on here. Thank you

Nice peafowl pen, but a couple of things from an old peafowl breeder. Your birds are going to roast in the summer under all that bare tin. Maybe line it with wood on the inside, keep tin to the outside. Also, come breeding season, your older Blue male is going to want that Blue hen all to himself and he is NOT going to like that young Pied male near his hen. Make sure you get that young male out of there by late winter, early spring at the latest, or you're going to have a badly mangled or dead young male.

I have a question... how big do you make the actual perch. Looks like 2 by 2? or do you use a round pole?

Is the issue with the Tin roof the heat? I'm just curious as I'm currently building an aviary and I was going to include a tin shelter so my guys can get out of the rain

@@cutiebrowngirl Can I ask the dimensions of your run? Have 2 pair in a 16x24 run, I'm hoping it's big enough for my guys.
