Love this video. The VI just doesn't get the same love as the previous land yachts. I had an '82 with a very rare roof option where the oval opera windows were covered over, and the rear quarter windows were partially covered to give them a completely thin vertical shape. It was 9 years old with 75,000 miles when I bought it, but it had been lovingly babied by its original owner. I would go on to have it for 9 years myself, adding an additional 150,000 miles. Living in southeastern Massachusetts, I drove that car all over New England, as well as a trip to Toronto, New York City, and even put it on the ferry to Martha's Vinyard. Great car. Great memories. 😌
thank you and yes the mark VI is looked over far to much so any love it can get is the best :) working on a few more of these episodes with a mark v and a sedan mark vi
I passed by a beautiful Mark VI yesterday, silver with original wheels and whitewalls, driven by an older gentleman, the only non-stock thing I noticed was dual exhaust with chrome tips. Gorgeous car.
Chris Rush mark Vi did have an option of duel exhaust But never came with the tips :). But always enjoy hearing about sightings in the wild of the Vi :)
I know that Lincoln inside and out. We had the 1981 Town Car and my friend got the 1982 Black on Black four door Continental with that great digital dash and all the buttons. You could manually set your destination and time. Then as you stopped for fuel or food it would update your arrival time based on your stop. Same 5.0 V8 with overdrive that was a little underpowered but boy did it ride smooth and quiet. I was so jealous and wished we had not gotten the Town Car Signature Series.. No cool dash in our car but both had the moon roof and the buttons on the door to unlock one door or all doors and trunk. Still to this day I would love to have one as my daily driver.
Great great job.Im proud owner if 78 diamond jubilee 75th anniv. Edition Mark V Gold!! One of 2, 557 and I just love my Lincoln and you guys do just an incredible job here so a few of us Veterans watched this together and we're gonna all subscribe thank you guys
thanks glad you can enjoy :) still working on the next one with a mark v trying to do a 460 and 400 with the same rear axels so that's fun trying to find but we will see :) thanks again
To me it was nice to see one of these cars with the cloth interior. The cloth/velour interiors seem to be frowned upon when really they are so much more durable, not hot or cold in differing climates and look very luxurious. In alot of other cultures, the cloth/velour was deemed NICER than the leather alternative. The Mark series did some of the nicest cloth/velour interiors in my honest opinion. Something to be proud of to own.
@@MarksofDistinction The cloth interiors on the 1980 and 1981 models had a better design pattern than the later 1982-1983 models in my opinion. Either way, thanks for bringing these beautiful cars to your channel and showing others how wonderful they are to drive and own. When i buy one, i'm definitely getting one with cloth interior and analog gauges. I also prefer the two tone exterior paint option on the Mark VI's.
An acquired taste, but my personal favorite. Handled better than the oversized '70s Lincs and rode better than any Cadillac. '82+'83 are the best years if in the higher trim levels.
Things to help power. New double row timing set. The OE is a nylon over aluminum cam gear and stretchs and jumps. Delete EGR, egr cooler, air pump and cats. Add dual exhaust and take the slack out if the accelerator pedal. Raise shift points if it shifts to early by adjusting sceew on linkage. Run non ethanol. It will accelerate way better. Plus it will get better economy. I get 20 in suburban driving overdrive locked out and 25 on highway overdrive on. .
I own a 1979 Mark V. I Love driving that car ! I would buy a 1980 Mark VI if I could find a rust free example. I prefer the analog dash. These are great cars that command respect everywhere they go.
Gorgeous cars!! I own an 89 Town Car. Please let me know what tires those are on the burgundy car!?? I'm in love with the thicker than usual, yet not overly thick "medium" look. I must have them!
@@MarksofDistinction I'm in NY and don't own one at the moment. If I ever get a chance to pick up another one (I've had two!) and I happen to be on road trip to Utah, I'll stop by along the way.
Great video! The Mark VI has always been my favorite in the Mark series. I’ve considered buying one - but the very high dashboard makes me hesitate. To Mark VI owners - does the dashboard height obstruct your view of the road (to the point where it is bothersome)? Or is it not any issue?
It may look high but it does not obstruct your view whatsoever I don’t want mine you can see the dash and then you can see the hood beyond it there’s no distraction at all I would go out and test drive one or go on Eenie town car from 1980 to 1989 it’s basically the same set up it is the same set up just on the town car
If I were ranking Marks, I'd put most of the earlier ones above this, as well as the later VII and VIII. But this is still an awesome car in its own right, and definitely worthy of the esteemed "Mark" name.
@@MarksofDistinction Meh, I could agree on the VII. Its styling was a bit bloated, but I'm standing by the VIII. I think they knocked it out of the park with that one. But of course, as you said...just opinions.
Yeah these old gals are really gorgeous indeed, 0-60 in about 14 seconds. And enough room for any size 16xl truckers and their clan to hop into and cross the country while pouring gas out onto the freeways. But very lovely regardless. And to prove it to you all, I would own a dozen of these in different colors and years if I had lots of money. So take my humor and leave it alone, as far as we are all concerned we still have free speech in the country and thats what my humor was.....
i would agree there are a few things you can do to get more power 1. disconnect the vacuum line to the EGR that way it won't open once you get above 2k rpm and it makes it have a better power band instead of falling on its face

Do you know how to fix the fuel issues
I was on the Dealer Lot in 1980 and these Mark VI cars sold over $22K which was over $80K today.
Yep and just like than inflation is crazy

While the people and the times had gotten weird, there was still a sense of what luxury was all about!
I drive a champagne colored ‘88 Lincoln Town Car.
Absolutely great! 🇺🇸👍🏼✨
That black with a red cloth is 🔥

When you do get one, make sure to share it on RUclips. These cars need as much love as they can.
My father's last car was a 1982 Mark VI. 4-door, Medium Fawn exterior, what a nice car it was.

You also want to increase your fuel pressure by adjusting the regulator nut, all good points and smart things to do for max power :)

Have not done a full series yet but the vii would be dead last and the viii would be second to last. But that’s our opinion but thanks for watching

Hey can I ask you a question?
My Lincoln continental is the same exact one and well my clock screen doesn't work do you know how to fix that?
Yes there could be all kinds of reasons why. Where are you located
I love this video almost as much as I love that car. Just get a better mic please.
1979 was the last great Lincoln
apart from the opera window it looks like it's from a minecraft game

Why do you play the music so loud that you can’t really hear much of what you are saying?
It was done a few years ago and just learning mistakes
Cant hear this at all, turned all the way up! Dude
At least yours works good lord my mark vi is pretty on the outside but the elvtrocnics are fucked
Invest in some microphones fellas.
Maybe. But we do this for fun unfortunately no money being made from these
@@MarksofDistinction Just found your site, great concept. I’m a big fan of Lincolns. Used to own a ‘97 Town Car.
why would you play music as the video plays?..it ruins the video
