  • Hello, Beauties! It's time for a battle of the hair care brands. Today, I'll be reviewing both Bantu and Shimmer Lights of their shampoo and conditioners. See if I give these a glowing recommendation or a dismissal.

I'm so bless and encouraged to go grey and not dye my hair anymore by looking at how beautiful your hair is.

Shimmering light works for me after my relaxer, very nicely.....my hair is thick so I use a good amount...... if your hair is turning purple it may be because you're exceeding your time. The longer you.leave it on.the more purple tint you will have.... Also you might want to check the type of shampoo you are using. If you are using brown or yellow or any color shampoo or added condition it will tint your hair also medication , will change the color of your hair. Buntu is peroxide that should be use very sparingly.. not so often follow thevv directions, once a month should do it.....Both are very good however some things you digest rather its smoking or Marijuana or alcohol vitamins can affect the color of your hair. Enjoy the Grey experience.

For shampoo thats made for people of noncolor I put 1 teaspoon or less into a 4 ounce spray bottle with distilled water & I spray the soap onto my scalp or my hair. The Shimmer & lights might work well with dilution & spraying on.

I agree with everything you said. When I was relaxed over 9 years ago, the Bantu worked very well. Shimmer light turned my hair purple. I'm now natural and I've noticed however that the Bantu isn't keeping it as white as I like. I may try the Shimmer light again but use it sparingly. Love your hair!

Destiny, the shimmer lights really dont work for me either, I use bantu and I add a few drops of Mrs.Stewarts bluing to the bantu, its for whitening clothes, but you can use it on hair as well, you find it in the household, etc, spray starch area of the store or you can order it on amazon, its very concentrated so I only add a few drops, to bantu and any conditioner that I use.

I'm not relaxed, but I can't stand the purple shampoo. LOL. I am also washing once a week. I am going to use it once a month to use it up.

Clarifying shampoo helps to cleanse products that build up in our hair… Fanola is a good brand and AG Silver Mask ,shampoo , and conditioner … Bantu is the truth too

I use Bantu as well but I add a drop or two of Mrs. Stewart’s bluing to the Bantu and shake well until it’s a light pale blue, and then apply it to my hair, it works very well. I’m not too fond of the Shimmer light, but maybe I’ll try it again the way that you suggest. Thanks for the tip

Patrice Jackson Hey Patrice, what is Mrs.Stewart’s? I haven’t heard of that. I’m going to try your method and see how it works. Thank you for commenting and sharing.

2chicchiks Mrs.stewards is a liquid bluing use to make whites, whiter. Look it up on Amazon so the you can see what the bottle look like, then you maybe able to find it a grocery store where you shop, it’ll be in the laundry section. Also goggle uses for putting it in your hair. You can add a drop or two to water and rinse your hair with it, or as I said above I just add a Few drops to a bottle of Bantu and shake it up and apply to my hair like a conditioner. The color of the Bantu when you add the drops should be a pale light blue. Try it out and let me know what you think

Hi. Just found your channel. I don't use Shimmering lights because my grey grabs color. I was told by a beautician you have to use the shampoo and lather it till it turns white. Still didn't try it but I use Cantu.

Hey Joyce, your are right it don't work. It's Bantu Yellow Out Conditioner. I use it only to remove the discoloration then I use a different product to condition my hair. Thanks for sharing and commenting.

Thank you for the share. I do have two questions. What is your opinion on how the Clairol Shimmer Lights Conditioner work? Do you use the Bantu Yellow Out as a conditioner, cold wash, or leave-in? I use the ConairPro Shiny Silver "One'n only" Ultra Shampoo and "One'n" Ultra Conditioner once a month for the last three years on my natural silver/gray hair. Before the three years while letting the relaxer and pre-color grow out, I would use these products every two weeks. After cutting the remaining relaxed portions out and continuing using these products, my hair was silver/gray within two months.

    • @2chicchiks

I have not used the Shimmering Lights conditioner I only use the shampoo to remove the discoloration and I use it sparingly because ii I use it to much it will turn my hair purple. I use the Bantu only to remove the discoloration from my hair I have other conditioners I like to use to condition my hair. This is the first time of me hearing about the ConairPro Shampoo and Conditioner but I am willing to try it. Thanks for the tip. How long have you been silver/gray? Are you enjoying being natural? Thank you for watching and commenting 😊

@@2chicchiks I've been gray/silver the complete outline of my head, two inches up across the nap of my head and two inches wide straight down the middle in my early thirty's. The peak of my head and around the edges was always dirty blonde color from thirty to birth. But from 2016 until now I've been silver/gray with two fifty cents size circles of dark brownish-black. It is only seen if I cut my hair down. (Number 2 clipper or 1/8 inch - it doesn't expose the scalp)
