Little tip for you: the longer you leave that in, the better. My hairstylist advised me to leave it in 2-3 hours or even overnight. It really makes a day & night difference for me compared to a normal 10 min set time. Also try a matching conditioner (most purple shampoos have matching "purple/violet conditioner". Since purple shampoos are quite harsh, their specific conditioners can really help your hair and help the colour set further. Don't use more than once a week.
Great video! I do this to my beard once a month. Slather it on thick to dry hair, leave it on 10 to 15 minutes and shower. Makes the silver pop like crazy. I also use the purple on my head every day. Thanks Greg!
Thanks for the Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you researched - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (just google it)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for learning how to reverse gray hair fast minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got cool success with it.
.....That shampoo is good stuff for gray hair, it removes the 'brassiness' in gray hair and beards!....using it several years available at Sally's beauty supply.
Hi Greg !! I think that the purple shampoo works !! It has a light effect, but very good anyway. As a long haried guy... Your hair is gorgeus !! Really !! Keep on growing !! The combination of hair with the beard...is just awesome!!! Thanks for your vídeos !! Following from Argentina!
I've tried the Clairol Shimmer Lights for my gray hair and beard, and it's just awful shampoo. It left my hair very dry and the fragrance is terrible. I'm not sure if it did anything color-wise - I was was just so disappointed in its performance as a shampoo. I just bought the Nexxus Blonde Assure purple shampoo and tried it this morning. It is a much better shampoo and it seems to have toned down the yellow in my hair and beard and brightened the gray. Results would probably be even better if I followed up with the matching conditioner - will plan to try that.
very useful video for me. my family goes grey young (my dad was full silver at 30 when i was born). now i am 39 and have hair that looks just like yours. wasn't sure how to use the purple shampoo properly, but will try this method using my jhirmack silver plus shampoo. also "I like my purple hair" your mom sounds cool
I have been a professional groomer for 25 years. And I still love watching your videos. Remembering what I learned years ago.... Again. Thank you for this lesson.
I keep telling my dad to use my shimmering lights. My dad has some awesome salt and pepper. Btw you're super fit! I was like omg I didnt know this was the gun show. I recommend to just wash ur hair normal with that kind of shampoo. Like twice a week. If you ever get the deeper purple cast, remove it with dandruff shampoo and hot water. It'll fade it out quick.
I've actually wondered about this. It works great on my blonde. I've been telling my husband it would brighten up his white/silver. Just my personal preference, I like Redken over the Clairol Shimmer Lights. Less drying.
I wash with the Beardbrand Utility Bar or Lever 2000 and dont use moisturizer. Your kind, but if you compare it to the first video that I did, I dont look younger. My secret.....Ring Lamp and good vanity lighting. :)
@@BerzinskyRules I gotcha you will look like a Greek God either way. Your channel only caters to true Alpha you all are killing it. Btw your old school smooth Gentlemen approach and Jake's new school cutting edge style is Brilliant.
I use Purple RedKin shampoo and conditioner and it has darkened my hair and my grays look fab. It was recommended by my hairdresser. I was really thinking of dying it but not anymore.
Greg - thanks for the info 👍 I've noticed my beard has gotten brassier over time, and I've been looking for ways to make my beard brighter I'll definitely have to check out this method to brighten my beard My only concern is that I use natural beard products and I'm concerned this would be harsh in my beard
Wow this was such a good video! Hey Greg your video on how your beard grew out and changed over the years was so good! Do you think you could do one on natural recession? If you have notice any? Over the years as your hairline may have matured. This type of video would be amazing!
I did a video on my top picks for guys with tall foreheads or Fiveheads, as I call them. My forehead is taller than it was at 20 for sure. But I may do another in the upcoming months
Greg Berzinsky thank you for the reply. That would be amazing Greg! Your videos are very relatable and honest. I really enjoyed your timeline video! This was interesting too... I had never heard of purple shampoo 😂 Hey from Scotland 🏴
I’ve been using Redken purple shampoo for a few years and I’m completely happy. And if you think it’s not working, use the generic “make it clean” kind found in most hotels for a few days. You will understand that there is a big difference.
Wheres your before and after shot...plus I love the grey hair. I don't understand how men look so much better than woman with grey hair...esp the salt and pepper.
I've been using it for years. It keeps my beard white and takes out the brassy tones and and brings out the white and silver. I've used the Clairol and the Walmart brand. I'm pleased with both. But the Jhirmack really makes my beard really bright white. I have the same hair colour that you have. If I've been out in the sun or in a pool, I wet my hair and put it on before I take my shower to kill those brassy tones. Brassy tones are great in a brass choir, but not in my hair. My hair was jet black when I was younger. I've dyed my hair with professional colour and it was the same colour as it was when I was younger. I just don't like dyed hair on men. I used 3 different colours of black to make it look natural. I had a friend that was a hair colorist in a salon and he showed me how to dye it so that it did not look like a bottle dye job. I didn't like it and it was difficult to cover the gray roots as they grew out. The interesting thing I noticed at my job was that young people took me more seriously than when my hair and beard was gray. I even tried dyeing my hair blond. I looked like an alien. LOL. I swear by the purple shampoo. I have given bottles to coworkers, men and women, because gray and white hair looks dirty when it is brassy. I gave the bottlrs to people that were interested in how I kept my gray hair bright. I even dyed it purple for a work event. I really liked it. I intend to donate my hair when it gets really long, so I won't dye it for now
I have grey like yours, beard and hair. I was looking for a silver hair dye solution that I could do at home to brighten up my hair and make the grey get a plat silver look, but such product doesn’t exist unless you go and get pro colors and mix them yourself, but I don’t have that skill set. So I researched and found this same product you’re using and have been using it for about 6 months now. I use it once a month, it does make your grey tones pop, like a silvery finish. I’m following the advice from other RUclipsrs, which is: Use product on dry hair and beard, leave in for 10 minutes, then wash out.
Hey Greg - wondering if you've heard anything about ION BRILLIANT GREY shampoo. I have a lot of yellow/brassieness in my mustache, and it was recommended to me. Can't get it Walmart. I guess Sally Beauty carries. From the videos I've seen it's like a black more than a blue/purple. Results have been impressive... icy/silver white. But only women demo-ing it. Haven't seen anyone do a beard or mustache with it.... maybe your next vid ??? 🤔
I understand not wanting a yellow tint but whiter is the opposite of what I'm going for.... What does someone who wants gray to get darker and grayer use?
I am a blonde and I use a brand called joy co it is amazing. Plus they have a conditioner that is purple. After all yellow is the opposite color to purple
Hi! I use a similar product and it is really awesome for my mostly white/grey hair. I don´t leave it that long (only 2mins, tops!), my hair is "very" white and it keeps it really shiny, nice looking and all that good stuff. Never used it on my beard... have to try it. Nice, simple video! Thanks!
Hi , I have kind of similar grey color to yours , few months ago I dye my entire hair in dark brown , now my hair turned to grey original with some light brown /orange /yellowish color , wanted ask you if this purple shampoo has worked for you after one year ? As I am thinking maybe to use it to turn the light color brown / orange to dark brown / black if it works ? Regards
My hair color is exactly like yours. I started noticing some yellowish tint probably due to using hot air blow dryer and straightener, etc. My sister advised to try Shimmer Lights and I started using it about once a week, sometimes twice. It helped but I was still seeing a bit of yellow tone in the front of my hair. The problem? I NEVER LOOKED AT THE BACK!! I went and got my hair cut last week and the stylist gave me my hair to donate (about 9-10 inches). The ponytail taken from the back was straight-up blue/purple. I had no idea. So I took a mirror and looked, and sure enough, the back (darker) parts of my hair are blue/purple. I've been going like this for a year now. UGH. I'm that lady from Church! So I'll be backing way down on the Shimmer Lights and using clarifying shampoo to get this under control. Not sure what to do about the ongoing issue with yellowish tones on the front/white parts of my hair though. It's always something.
Also just dont leave it in your hair as long .. I use it once a week to maintain my now blonde hair. Plus just regular shampoo washing will get rid of the slight purple overtone look. My hair is fine and high porosity, so I cant leave it on any longer than five minutes or I will have purple hair.
Your beard did look brighter. I have blonde highlights(more of an ombre) and use the L'oreal brand of the purple shampoo on my hair from the mid length to the ends because that's where my blonde is. I can usually go every two to three weeks before I have to do use it again. There is something called a glaze that does last for four weeks to brighten up the color. I know I sometimes go for a glaze in between ombre retouch appointments. I wonder if it is possible for people with grey hair to get a glaze as I do for my blonde highlights. You can pull off purple, but yes, I agree...no purple hair or beard. I like the longer hair too on you. Keep on Growing
Got blessed with a silver-white beard. For my hair I use American CREW and for beard, I use Mountaineer Brand. I guess if I wanted super white I would use that, but I'll just watch Greg.
An idea I would suggest for you Greg, is to retreat just your moustache, as desired, as it is has more of a yellow hue than the hair around your chin. That way it wont make the white hair around your chin too purple, and should help to further balance the yellow tone in your moustache.
Mehdiovic Khalan use apple cider vinegar 2 times per week as replace for normal shampoos. Let it sit for 1 hour than wash out only with water. Use a spray bottle where u put half ACV and half water. After ten years of hair loss due to dandruff and itchy scalp its the only it helps for me

Absolutely, I buy it for my wife often. It makes a big difference for brass.
Definitely made a difference. That's the big reason I shaved my beard because of that yellow tint.
Give the beard another try and use the shampoo

Hi Greg, did you dye your eyebrows or did they naturally stay dark?
One of them is dark....the other is salt and pepper, and I dye that one to match the other. I did a video on this.

Cool! My beard is not that white but it is starting to get gray. I’ll give it a try. Thanks!

Oh Greg.... ur application was aaaaawfoool lol.
I had this vid downloaded before but then it got pulled so I couldn't watch it but now it's back. Uploaded too early?
Is Greg still with Beardbrand?
It’s important to use a clarifying shampoo prior to using a purple shampoo to achieve the best possible result.
Great tip!

Greg I have the same hair maybe a little shorter n I'm trying to grow my beard I'm only doing a face beard though
I use it all the time without my hair turning purple
Once every three days
I think there maybe a bit of TRT here too
It only works on grey hair. I even use a silver rinse out tint so my grey looks very shiny and silver
Tesha, Thanks
It makes a difference but it is subtle. I use it but don’t expect dramatic results…
I think I'll try this to brighten the silver in my hair and beard.
Am I the only one who notices how his scalp moves at the beginning of the video, when he raises his eyebrows? That’s crazy

Came out nice really like the long hair Greg but I'm partial to long hair
Try it next time on dry hair for a more robust out come!
You look much better with a beard. All you have to do is deep conditioning, put rollers in and wrap/cover it at night to tame it and make it soft.
Nice picture
Thanks for proving you can not only grow a more badass looking beard than I can, but you could also beat the crap out of me 😂
Gorgeous!

very noticeable in your hair!

I have a lot of white hair in my red beard, while using product with a lot of yellow dyes, it stains my white hair, so I use this to "neutralize" the yellow but I use A LOT on my beard...Now your fingernails have purple in them, use gloves next time.
Very handsome man
Just for men makes a beard wash to color. Just an idea, maybe try a 5 day challenge and see the difference.
100% better 😊
Man those actually for blonde but your experiment is so helpful hshaha
What do youlike without a beard?
What a handsome man
Damn greg! you have beautiful hair im jealous lol
I have to dilute the purple with equal parts of a white creme conditioner, and use it only twice a week, to prevent looking like a little old blue-haired lady.
It works leave it on for 3 minutes
