    Also yeah, I really wish more Star Wars stuff or stuff in general did these tone poems. They're so fantastic and I'm glad Eric decided to show them again in honor of the 25th anniversary.

    Thanks to Eric and Aaron! 🌌 Not only did I go to see in in the cinema, I got interviewed by a New Orleans newspaper for an article about the phenomenon of paying the price of a ticket to not see the movie. 😆 I was misquoted. I said, "I'm a STAR WARS freak"... but in print it said, "I'm a freak." 🙄

    I was 10 in '97 when the special editions came out and while it wasnt the first time id seen sgar wars, it was the first time i appreciated it. There was something very magical about being a star wars fan in the late 90's between special editions and phantom menace. . When that first trailer came out i remember how floored and excited i was. I had a subscription to Star Wars Kids magazine AND Star Wars Insider. What a time. All of the vignettes and trailers and the commercialization. Ah. So damn fun. cant believe its been 25 years.

    Imagine the classic 90s/00s narrator for this: "In a world.... far, far away..."
    This was a time when internet spoilers were non-existent. But it was hilarious the official soundtrack released on CD 2 weeks before the movie, and one of the song is called Qui-Jon's Death, lol. Ruined it for everyone that bought it.
    Also, looking back, how cool would it have been it they didn't realize the double lightsaber until in the movie, and just show one side in the trailer. We'd all have gone crazy.

    Episode 1 was the first movie I ever saw in theatres as well as the first star wars movie I ever saw period. My older cousins took me to go see it when I was four. I had seen other movies and TV shows of course, on VHS and on the TV. But it was my first time in the big screen and I had no idea star wars was a thing till then. So I was blown away and actively hated the original trilogy when I finally saw it because I thought it was boring 😅. I grew out of that but it still makes me laugh thinking about how much I hated Luke for not using his light saber in a New Hope.

    Phantom Menace doesnt have a single bad piece of music, from start to finish it's non-stop iconic soundtrack. It's also not overly reliant on motifs for specific characters, it's not like they went "here's the "Obi Wan" theme, and we play it every time Obi Wan's on screen, sometimes we speed it up if there's an action scene". A lot of the tracks are unique and distinct. I think that's pretty rare or unheard of in a modern film. This is more a prequel statement than a Phantom-Menace specific one, but can you imagine how much less iconic the battle between Obi Wan and Anakin would have been on Mustafar if instead of "battle of the heroes" we just got the soundtrack alternating and mish-mashing an "obi wan theme" with the imperial march, depending on who was onscreen. Instead we get a unique piece of music that only plays for that 1 scene, it helps make the scene memorable and iconic. I dont make a habit of bashing the sequels, but every confrontation between Rey and Kylo Ren was just Rey's theme/Kylo Ren's theme, it's why they all blur together.

  • @mrvoltar

    The tone poem concept is from 19th century as a short musical piece with a narrative theme which was a fad in Europe that really built into Romantic Era and the precursor to Opera style leitmotif use that Star Wars really brought back.
    Speaking of the music, Idk if you guys (Eric especially) have heard of @RedCaio or @starwarsmusicanalysis but I've never noticed you shout them out. Red CAIO also is into Harry Potter music which I know you're also into.

      People are sick of the negativity. I literally can't say I'm enjoying the story without 20 people trying to shit on me for being a disney simp. I'm interested to see where the story is going. Sure, some of the acting is a little stiff and the one hour format is not my favorite, but it's not terrible like some people are trying to make it. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Your race or sexual orientation has nothing to do with anything. It just seems like people are hating on it because they're part of the twitter hive-mind and incapable of independent thought.

      @@gregorypaul7898I’m just so confused on why there is this amount of hate on the show. There’s barely any political stuff in the show and it’s a fun mystery. Some bad dialogue and stiff acting isn’t enough to hate the show this much. I understand some people just don’t like Disney SW but I don’t get why this show gets the hate when BOBF and Mando S3 were much worse

    • @gregorypaul7898
      @gregorypaul7898 Месяц назад +4

      @@Jjj-zz7bz It starts with the "anti-woke" crowd who need to fuel division in order to be relevant. Then it overloads the algorithm to promote these people because it creates the most engagement. Finally, when someone does have an actual criticism of the show (stiff acting, ect) they get pushed into the rabbit hole of negativity and are bombarded with nothing but "Why The Acolyte Sucks!" videos, which creates a negative reinforcement against the show.
      Star Wars Theory and other creators will put out polls, such as, "What did you think of this episode?" and over 75% of the people answer "I haven't watched it, nor do I plan to". So most of the people who are being negative about the show, haven't even watched it. They're just going off of the negativity that is being force fed to them on social media. But that's just my 2 cents...

The writers of the Acolyte have said they put him in because Yoda was " not technical " available. Meaning they didn't have the ability..so the changed Canon of mundis age to make it fit
      Which makes him a liar now because in the .movies he says." The sith have not existed for millennium " so either way the messed up. Only 15% of ppl actually like this show. The writing is bad. Seen better plots on the SYFY CHANNEL
