have you guys ever watched the pattinson super cut of Revenge of the Sith, it includes deleted scenes and a lot of episodes of from clone wars season 7, just to make it far more connected. the whole thing is chronological
35:46-38:50 This is honest to God the best take I've heard on Finn's TLJ arc in seven years! 👏🏽 46:30 Hold on worst than Dooku vs Obi Wan & Anakin in AOTC and Obi Wan vs Vader in ANH! 🤯 1:01:30-1:05:30 🎯
In regards to the Jake Lloyd hate, I remember watching the behind the scenes stuff for Episode 1 and it showed some of the footage from when they were looking for an Anakin actor, and obviously one of them was Jake reading a scene with Natalie Portman and watching that, I saw exactly what George saw in him and why he chose him. The other boys were very still, very monotone and clearly nervous, but Jake was swinging his legs, showing enthusiasm, at one point he picked up a random little prop and started fiddling with it - not sure if it was intentional or just cuz he was 9 and liked fiddling with toys - but it was exactly how a 9 year old boy who likes fixing things would act, his mannerisms were spot on and I see 100% why George picked him. I think he was good in Episode 1, and it's such a shame that he got hate for it when, as Mark Hamill said, he was a little child just doing what he was told to do.
Also, back to the “Death Star dagger” thing is so ridiculous because the Death Star literally exploded. Incinerated, there is literally no universe in which the throne room from episode 6, alongside a portion of the actual disk of the super weapon, is intact.
I can kinda headcanon away the thrown room being intact. Like, maybe it had its own shield generator with its own power supply that protected it from the explosion. But the laser dish? Just, no. There’s no fucking way that big of a chunk of the Death Star remained intact
Thing I hate most about SW is the fans being toxic towards each other. Don't hate on someone cuz they have a different opinion than you do. And honestly that's why GL sold it to Disney in the first place. Cuz the stupidity of fans. And personally don't blame him
This is probably the most honest and authentic answer given today’s climate with Star Wars. Too many fans feel like they know what Star Wars is or too many fake fans who don’t care about the franchise wanna think they know what Star Wars is and want to grift off of it.
Yup. A particular thing that is annoying is that people let one thing ruin something bigger. Fans just have a hard time accept the good parts, like the Bad Batch. People were pissed about Scorch’s death, and write a whole essay, yapping about it, and acting like it ruined the episode
The fans are incredibly toxic, a lot of the more recent toxicity to Disney is completely warranted and Disney deserves all the hate in the world but the toxicity between all the fans is pretty disgusting.
@@teekay1122 that’s the thing about society nowadays that hurts the ability for anyone to talk about anything. They can literally take one thing and spin it to make it seem like everything else is bad about something so to your example scorches death is an idea around that. Because they think they fumbled the bag on that that means the rest of it was bad.
@@TheBabyCaleb There are several good products that they have published, but people turn it down and expect the absolute worst. While I don’t deny Disney’s downfall, people always judge a book by its cover
erics starting little conversation on loving liking things speaks to me on a spiritual level, i'm the same way not liking things is just a more boring feeling
@FlexyCrash I literally just have standards man, I watch a show and actually pay attention and think about things such as world building, plot, character writing, overall well written dialogue. This is why I can say Andor for example is a better show that anything else Disney put out. Not because I'm a devil that loves the feeling of hating, but because Andor is very well written, the characters are well realized and written good, the world building is the best its been since the OT trilogy, the plot god forbid actually makes sense and isn't full of contrivance and plot holes. And the dialouge sounds like how 2 humans would actually talk. I know you and other people in this comment section hate people like me but we do actually have reasons for why we criticize the things we like instead of blind positively for the sake of positively.
@@tracey5745 People like you are fine as long as you guys don't nitpick on every single little gritty detail and will write down a 5-page essay/ create a 6 hour rant video just complaining how terrible this detail is. and also have the self-control to not shove down those criticisms into the throats of those who do not mind those things you criticize and gladly enjoy them. There are also belittling others as well and making their whole personality at ruining people's enjoyment as well. Which in all honesty doesn't just apply to just Star Wars but every single fictional medium ever.
@@tracey5745 Just try to learn some self-control dude. People like you guys almost ruin one of Eric's stream of Jedi Survivor because Eric made a "They fly now" joke and the guy decided to spam how stupid that line is and just proceeded to spam how terrible episode 9 is on the RUclips live chat.
The problem with Star Wars fans disliking things is they can't just dislike it and move on with their lives. They have to actively seek outlets in which to spread their hate and dislike and take personal shots at the people who created the things they dislike. It's toxic and unhealthy. Perfect example is Jake Lloyd, at the time a 9/10 year old kid who many disliked in the role of young Anakin. They couldn't just objectively dislike his portrayal and move on. They felt compelled to bully and harrass him online and make this child feel worthless because of a stupid movie role. Star Wars has one of the most toxic fandoms ever.
Qui-Gon changed the fate of the galaxy by flipping the Dice. Watto got scammed. Also nothing stopped him from just taking Anakins mother with them. I understand no attachments but his mother's death started the turn to the dark side.
Well, if they did end up taking Shmi with them as well as Anakin, most likely Watto would’ve gone to the Hutts about it. And if the Hutts found out that the Jedi were snatching slaves from an Outer Rim planet, where the Republic has zero jurisdiction, then a war between the Jedi and the Hutts could’ve broken out. Yes, it’s just one slave, but from Watto/the Hutts’ perspective, they could’ve seen it as the Jedi starting a campaign to rid the galaxy of all slavery, something that a lot of Outer Rim planets and factions rely on such as Zygerria, Tatooine, etc. And with the Trade Federation wreaking havoc and where their position is in the greater galaxy, having a war with the Hutts on top of that would’ve been pretty bad.
@@theaces3697 That evil Watto raising Anakin basically as a surrogate son, teaching him mechanics and letting him pursue his passions as a racer/pilot. Also clearly buying Anakin's mom just so the boy would keep his mother, since she obviously wasnt doing anything for Watto in the workshop. That evil slaver should have just let them be sold to another Hutt instead where clearly they would have seen better treatment.
Anakin says durring their dinner that they have trackers injected into them and that if they try to escape the hutts will blow them up. Thats why Qui- Gon couldn't just take both of them. Anakin even mentions how he was trying to develop a scanner to find his.
I havent watched the video yet, but it would be insane to see blindwave give actual criticism of something, maybe they mention how awful the ahsoka show, mando s3 and boba fett were instead of just being blindly in love!!!
This is the proper way to have discussions to make an awesome franchise even better. Not the popular basement dwelling, burn it to the ground style that has engulfed the fandom in the age of social media. Well done, gentlemen. And an early May The Fourth Be With You!
Hehehe, I was totally waiting for Eric's inquisitor lightsaber rant... I still go back to watch the old reactions (both HIS initial reaction and Calvin and Rick's) of Twilight of the Apprentice just to chuckle at his annoyance in those scenes. I totally agree with you on the misuse of Padme in RotS. She had been built up as a strong character in TPM and AotC, then was relegated to the weepy pregnant wife. And I hated that she basically died of a broken heart when she so clearly had 2 good reasons to keep living. But a lot of that is made better if you take into account deleted scenes. The Seeds of Rebellion scenes illustrate that as the war was raging, Padme was exhaustively fighting to keep democracy intact and desperately holding together a galaxy together that was tearing itself to shreds. (This is illustrated even more in The Clone Wars episode, Heroes on Both Sides.) And there are deleted scenes in AotC that show that Padme actually always wanted to settle down and have children, but there was always too much work to do. So with that added character depth, you realize that she was feeling the massive professional disappointment of liberty dying "with thunderous applause." Then Obi-Wan shows up and tells her that Palpatine orchestrated everything, and Anakin helped him. She doesn't believe him, but decides now is the time to "leave everything else behind while we still can" and just settle down and raise her kids with her husband. And Anakin destroys that too. By the time she got to Polis Massa, her mental health had been so strained, that as an adult, I can now see how she might have thought in her head that she was such a failure that the twins would be better off without her. But again, it's one of those things that just wasn't properly fleshed out. It could have prompted some really interesting discussions on mental health if RotS actually spent time to explain what was going on with Padme instead of being so hyperfocused on Anakin. Especially when you juxtapose it with the mental strain Anakin was ALSO under during this time, which led to his turn to the dark side. I mean, it's like a kid who is bullied so badly that he mentally snaps, and he either kills himself or shoots up his high school. Padme's the one who kills herself. Anakin's the one who shoots up a school.
Relating to the forms critique. We did get a reference in Rebels that implies Jedi use multiple forms. The Grand Inquisitor tells Kanan he favours form 3 to a ridiculous degree. And I’d imagine padawans would always learn their masters form, but could end up liking a different form. And then there is the case with Ahsoka who still uses form 5 like Anakin, however she dual wields and uses reverse grip which adds diversity to the form usage. We also know from Rebels Anakin made adjustments to Form IV techniques.
I dislike a lot of things but can forgive almost all of them. There's only one thing I can't: The Holdo Maneuver. What's the point of the sacrifice made in Rogue One? What's the point of all the loss of rebel life to destroy the Death Stars in the original trilogy (or just straight up the motive for the entire storyline?) Just strap a hyperdrive onto some bigass asteroids and lauch them at light speed towards your target.
Such a manoeuvre is ineffective against a shielded target. The Supremacy diverted its power from shields to engines to keep pace with the Resistance, which is why Holdo’s move works.
@@ReySkywalker2 I don't buy it. They were able to fly X-Wings so close to the Death Star they could blow up turbo laser turrets and shoot a torpedo down a small exhaust port. So either the Death Star didn't have shields during it's construction or those shields did not stop physical bodies from hitting it.
On the final topic of not liking the online discourse, this is why I am always VERY careful to say that while I absolutely loathe the sequel trilogy and the majority of its writing, and what they did to the classic characters, I actually really enjoy the new characters and their actors IN and OF themselves (not how they're utilized in the stories) and that's why even though I hate the ST's I believe that Daisy Ridley deserves better and am legit looking forward to what's coming up for Rey and I hope John Boyega can return and finally do Jedi Finn like he should have. I will say I don't like Ben Solo or Kylo Ren on any level, but that isn't because of Adam Driver, he's the lone new character that I just don't like or get.
One thing I don’t like is regarding the bacta tank scenes in Book of Boba Fett. He’s sleeping submerged, and his nose is not closed! Even Luke had his nose pinched closed in ESB.
54:34 Starkiller base wasn’t being built btw, there was just a big trench because the Empire was mining it for kyber crystals. The First Order used the trench to build Starkiller Base.
The thing I hate most about Star Wars is just how negative and toxic the fan base can be. Besides your guys’ SW content, I typically don’t bother engaging with many other Star Wars coverage
I dont like how "force powers" are always talked about in the fandom like it's an RPG. A jedi uses the Force to move an object towards them "that's force pull and it's a neutral ability", someone uses the force to lift something "that's force lift", someone uses the force to nudge something to the side or push something etc etc, they each get their own name. But "force choke, that's an evil power" or "woah, a *good guy* using force crush on a droid??!?!?!". Clearly, force users can use their connection to the Force to apply real-world force and move objects, it's all telekinesis. Each possible movement of an object doesnt need an anime-style move name that the user could call out. If a Jedi can apply upward force to a droid, and downward force to the droid, and they're strong enough to do it at the same time, clearly they can crush the droid. How is this a "darkside power"? Obviously when it comes to telekinesis there are evil ways you could use it (like choking someone for torture etc), but throw the RPG logic out the window, it doesnt use different evil forcepoints to push something from 2 directions at the same time.
to be fair, i blame the videogames for that. It makes sense to label every power in there because, its a game, but i feel that actually alieneted some big porcion of the fandon on thinking how the force suppose to work either as Light or Dark sided
The last Jedi. List done. lol. But seriously. Biggest problem from the sequel trilogies was not having a cohesive story for all 3 films. They treated it as 3 films when it was one film. One story. Trakata to me always meant not turning the lightsaber on and stabbing an opponent
On the subject of the lightsaber forms - I agree with Eric that a good Jedi should learn every form and technique they can, but I also think that through that process, certain techniques are going to emerge that you'll feel better suited to, or that align more with your personal philosophy when it comes to combat, and there will be certain things that you'll specialise in, and other things that you'll fall back on in the heat of the moment. Aaron's comparison to martial arts also makes sense. I practice Japanese Jiu-Jitsu (though I'd also love to learn Karate at some point to fill in some of the gaps with some striking techniques), and I know which kinds of throws and locks I prefer by this point, though I still train it all to the best of my ability. So whether you're thinking about it like Aaron is, where the different forms are different martial arts i.e. karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Kung Fu etc., or even looking within one martial art and considering all of the forms as different types of techniques i.e. throws, locks, strikes, etc. I agree with Eric that the way the concept is often written is restrictive, but I still think the forms make sense as a basic idea - the writing just needs to reframe it as "Obi-Wan is a Form III specialist" rather than treating it like he only uses that form almost every time. Aaron's suggest of blending a few forms when specialising a character makes sense to me - I think of my Jedi character as specialising in Forms V and III, using a strong defense to lever into counterattacks. Eric is definitely onto something regarding Trakata though. The rationale for neither side using it is dumb, and we should see more of it, as long as it's implemented well into stories.
Yep, I was coming here to say something similar. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure in some of the expanded material, it's stated that younglings get taught form 1 & 6 to cover the basics of lightsaber combat, and as Padawans most Masters will teach them the basics of the other forms to find what suits the student best. Obviously there are also Masters who just teach them the form they personally specialise in, but I'm pretty sure most will incorporate the other forms as well, to give their Padawans more well-rounded knowledge to draw from and create their own style.
See when it comes to Trakata, I agree that the explanation on it's lack of use is stupid, but I disagree on it needing to be explored further. The explanation is stupid because the ability itself is a really really bad idea. Even though we think of lightsaber combat of this fancy almost dance like thing going back and forth and exchanging blows with blades, both parties in combat are actually not aiming for their opponents blade, but for their opponent. People seem to have this misguided belief that if they turn their saber off and on again at exactly the perfect time they will bypass the block and land a killing blow, but fail to recognise that their opponents blade doesn't stop in midair (again, because people tend to think they aim for the blade). The second you turn your weapon off, your opponent's strike gets through and you're chopped in half. Even if the activation mechanism were instantaneous (which it's not), you can't afford to turn off your blade when your opponent is a force sensitive wizard who can see slightly into the future and will be able to strike you in an instant if you can't block.
@@gazzamanazza4pm the only scene I can think of where it would have any use would be when Luke is smashing on Vader in RotJ, even then I would argue that in the split second Luke would take to pull Trakata off Vader could have just force pushed him out of the way or struck back
I like when Rose is plotting the liberation of the space ostrich things and never once suggests freeing the slave children that take care of the animals
I can dig this style video for you guys because I know you will always come at any gripe with a layer of respect and appreciation for SW as a whole no matter what
So many valid criticisms and dislikes of the franchise that I find myself agreeing with, especially the final points. The "fandom" can be so ruthless towards those undeserving of their wrath. Something I hate about Star Wars, and it's outside the universe, is fans not giving credit where it's due. I'll be so proud of the awesome people who worked on The Bad Batch and see people giving all praise to Dave Filoni. I love Dave, I think he's incredible, but please give the flowers to folks like Jennifer Corbett, Brad Rau, Sean and Deana Kiner, and all the other incredible folks who actually worked on the show in it's entirety. I guess another thing I REALLY hate, also mostly about fan outrage, is the claims of Star Wars being nothing more than a shell or "Disney-fied" when we literally have some of the greatest additions to the franchise over the last 10 years. Yes, three divisive movies can be a lot, but Rogue One, Andor, TBB, Clone Wars came back, Tales, Mando, comics, games, novels, there have been so many awesome things that people gloss over in favor of what's cool to hate. Like Eric said, to them it's boring to spotlight what's great, and it's much more fun for them to aggressively hate things.
Are people like you and Eric gonna just keep complaining that WE are the problem with star wars because we have higher standards for star wars and actually want it to get better and you guys will swallow shit after shit while praising the person directly above you shitting in your mouth. I love how people like me are the problem because while we all love star wars and will criticize it instead of blindly clapping my hands and smiling.
@@tracey5745 If you're going to toss yourself in with the people who actively made the lives of people like Ahmed, Jake, Hayden and more worse because of their roles, then yes! You are very much part of the problem at that point. Criticisms in Star Wars are awesome, and totally valid, something you missed in this video or my comment. But the incessant hatred that exceeds beyond "higher standards for star wars" when all it becomes is just hate, then the franchise has passed you by and you're better off doing something more with your time than watching something to dislike it.
@@Shocktimus989 I never tossed myself in with those people because every mentally sane person believes that anyone who attacks actors who are simply doing thier jobs are shit human beings that are not right in the head. Weird how your entire takeaway from my comment was that I must be one of those people.
@@Shocktimus989also yes I misread one part about your comment about the Fandom extending thier wrath to the actors, again I don't consider those people apart of the conversation that's crazy. The only people you can hold responsible are the creators like Dave Filoni. Who I personally do because I think he's made some of the worst star wars we've gotten since Disney took over, but that criticism of him doesn't mean in any way I hate Dave or anything like that. I simply want better written shows and star wars to grow up a lil bit.
@@tracey5745 I agree, the people who partake in that harassing of actors have no place in the conversation, or in any for that matter. And I also agree that it's the people who make the material that are to be held accountable, and that's perfectly fine you dislike Dave's way of telling stories. I don't have those gripes, pretty much the opposite, but that's fine! I think in the case of a show like The Bad Batch, it's a case of Star Wars growing up. There's plenty of very dark themes woven throughout, along with some intense visuals, like Crosshair committing war crimes in the third episode of the show, or Hemlock holding a child at gunpoint in a hostage situation.
Im abit surprised by Eric mentioning the saber forms considering that all force users do learn/studies all forms. They also happen to have more affinity/mastery on a specific form. Only the tcw cartoon as far as we know ever limited them to a singular form (Anakin - Djem So. Obi Wan - Soresu etc) In the topic of Mace Windu, Vaapad is his own creation but he doesnt actually always use it. He switches according to what is needed plenty but opted for Vaapad specifically against Sidious because he was beaten back in every other way. Though that doesnt stop him from trying to alternate to different forms during said fight as shown in the ROTS novelization. The saber forms imo seem to draw inspiration in the old fighting ways of samurai/ronin culture where different schools have specific ways of using their Katana or spear. Only masters like Miyamoto Musashi for example ever combined plenty of them etc etc. Their culture etc all based on old japanese beliefs i believe
I’m currently struggling with the portrayal of Thrawn and thus far the lack of connection to the six new canon novels about him. All the talk seems to be about connections to Heir to the Empire. And I get it, HTTE is a classic, and Thrawn wouldn’t even exist without it. But his story has expanded and been so much more fleshed out since then. The new canon in my opinion has made his story more tragic, the story of a good man with good intentions who has basically followed the road to hell paved with those good intentions. I realize he’ll likely never be that good man again, but I want to see some hint of who he used to be. Some “humanity” out of him for lack of a better term. Because he’s not Palpatine, he went out of his way to teach and nurture kids and people who wanted to learn. In his youth he was just an awkward kid from basically the backwater nowhere of the Ascendancy. There’s just so much depth there that I hope they take advantage of. To me it would make his story so much more compelling moving forward. And don’t even get me started about the significance of Eli Vanto in his life, lol! I could go on forever 😂 PS: spoilers for the Ascendancy book series: also I’d love to see his long-lost sister come into play. Such a rich dynamic to explore.
Ultimately, I just hate the way they handled Finn’s character. As a black man, I was hoping and praying he would become a Jedi and work his way up to Knight but all that went away once I knew Luke disappeared😞
Having not finished the video - so unaware if this was brought up - but one thing i hate about the new canon is the fact (at least from my understanding) that the rebellion as we know it in episode 4 only really became an open revolt within a year or so before the start of "A New Hope." For some reason before the new canon material i always assumed the united rebellion had been a significant force/power player in the galaxy for close to a decade before The start of Episode 4, since they seem to be a fairly built up faction and Luke describes the rebellion forces in a manner that seems they're a well known faction. The new Canon established in "Rebels," "Andor," and the "Jedi Survivor" game series imply the unified and open rebellion is a recent development in the galaxy and is still a relatively unknown force. Before "A New Hope" the new canon implies there has only ever been small pockets of different rebel factions that do their own thing
It’s not that rebels didn’t exist. Episode 4 just marks the first time of a unified rebellion showing significant force and defeating the empire in a large scale battle. I get what you’re saying tho. Like the first Death Star blowing up is such a big moment for the unification of the rebellion that it’s now how we keep track of time in the Star Wars universe lol
Probably my biggest complaint across all Star Wars, movies in particular, is when they introduce a character that people like to then kill them off extremely quickly. The only saving grace being when those characters are then retconned back to being alive so that they can keep using said character, or just seeing past stuff of that character. This problem is mainly with villain characters, but also some hero characters too.
On the note of the trakata thing 26:00. I too think the whole "Sith think it's weak and Jedi think it's a dick move" thing is stupid. But there's a swordfight co-ordinator here on youtube that explains that essentially it's just a bad tactic, if you think about it half of lightsaber fights is about using your lightsaber to protect your body, if you then turn it off even briefly you leave yourself exposed. That feels like a better explanation as to why you never see anyone do it.
I think the lightsaber forms existing makes for the best theory for mace windu’s lightsaber being purple. Vaapad taps into the dark side of the force, and because of this, the crystal has been partially bled. So the theory is mace had a blue saber, and then it started turning red, causing it to stabilize in this purple colour
Lightsaber forms: I think it would make more sense pre-Clone wars to have different forms for different personalities and senses within the force. During the clone wars, it should become more like militaries or police do with their soldiers or officers, they are taught a "combat form" specific to the environment they're in.
My biggest gripe with Star Wars is the format to which it is released. We get the Episodic Movies, which furthers the timeline. And then we double back on the timeline to fill in gaps, instead of steadily progressing forward. So if you're like me, and you didn't like the Sequel Trilogy, give it 5 to 6 years and none of your complaints will be founded because we plunged all the holes you thought were there. So all of the Mandalorian is about how cloning helped Palpatine return - when they could have came up with something better for the movies. And I guess a second thing is that they're retconning the comics. Kanan specifically; his comic doesn't fit anymore because of Bad Batch.
This is the human way to have this discussion. Because ALL OF US have things we don’t like, but we are damn normal about it. Like I could honestly care less about Boba Fett, but I don’t go raging about it on social media or RUclips. He’s just not for me, and that’s fine. 100% the worst thing about SW is the toxic corner of the fandom. Thankfully, most SW are NORMAL HUMAN BEINGS and can discuss it like this. I do have friends whom I’ve gotten into FRIENDLY yelling matches with because we have very differing opinions, but that’s part of why I love fandom. It’s the people that are like “it ruined my childhood” and take things too personally that ruin it for everyone.
The things I really hate are how the older fans kinda made everyone involved with the prequels seem like they were terrible for making the prequels. The hate actors got that was so undeserved from the older fanbase that are just now getting the love they deserve
I always hated that, and like how hard would that be to fix? Make Anakin hurt her a bit more or just say he dealt a fatal wound choking her and she just had hours to live. Or add in something with Palp causing it. It would not be hard to fix that so come on George lol
@@smittydog16 Thats entirely fan theory in an attempt to fix it. Never been confirmed by any other canon media, by Lucas, by any script leaks, or by any of the cast. Fans just latched on to the headcanon and theory in an attempt to make a dumb line less dumb
@@MellyMelon1331 well yes in my head canon the palpatine fight was way longer and more badass not him killing 4 masters in 2 min same with other stuff they have done head canon makes things better and make sense I always said boba still alive before they brought him back bc it made the story better yes I’m aware she died of sadness but it’s a better plot n sorry wise to have palpatine kill her for him to further manipulate anakin into Vader and keep him wanting to bring her back
43:38 the skinnier Gamorreans in live action are surely to save costs and to have less expensive and obstructive prosthetics for them to perform stunts.
The one thing I can't stand about Star Wars is the absolute acceptance for bad stories because it has a Star Wars label on it. For example: the Kenobi series is the most destructive, lore destroying content we've had ever. It's so poorly written and poorly executed that its only liked BECAUSE of the final fight which by itself is a problem. Kenobi straight up acknowledges that Anakin is gone, doesn't kill Vader still and then proceeds to gaslight Luke only 13 years later to do the thing he couldnt do? Fucken atrocious.
I hate that Rey gave Anakin’s lightsaber to Kylo instead of Leah’s. Rey used Then used Kylo’s mother’s instead of the one, she trains with, uses in all three movies, and the one that she has more connection with.
i agree the idea of it being dishonourable is silly, youre not using the darkside for it so its fine but youd do anything to gain an advantage, my headcanon for why they dont turn off sabers and turn them on again, is that its stupid and would get the user killed, if you turn off a lightsaber that swing is now going through your body.
"hold your fire, theres no life forms on that pod" always makes me family guy's Blue Harvest which made me realize that they've never reacted to it on the channel before, have they not seen it?? they NEED to watch them!! they fit soo well with this "things i dislike" type video, Seth MacFarlane basically made 3 whole episodes based on poking holes in Star Wars logic
I always thought Luke's hand getting shot was because he was going for an overhead strike with his lightsaber, we see later in the film he beats vader by using a series of heavy-handed overhead strikes so i always assumed he had been going for one and the guy happened to shoot at his hand as he raised it.
While I know people have issues with the chosen one prophecy and sequels, in my mind it works in the way that had Anakin not killed palps the first time he would’ve ruled forever, but because he did he set in motion the events that would put an end to palps plan of resurrection, meaning he’d still be the chosen one and his actions specifically are what led to his downfall. It’s a bit of inference but it basically fixes that at least in my head
I've been hoping this whole time with Mandolorian that they were going to show the birth of the knights of ren/ intro to them because of the thing where both Grogu and Mando were rejecting both the traditional jedi way and the Mandolorian way for a while. It would be really cool to show them as like an offshoot/rogue cell of the Mandolorians devoting themselves to a new creed. If we don't get them in the movie, I'll be pretty disappointed
My actual biggest gripe, is in ANH when the stormtroopers are running through mos eisley looking for the droids, they knocn on THE door they are hiding behind, but its LOCKED so they just move on😭
If these Stormtroopers are conscripted (or even, though less likely, if they enlisted), it's entirely possible that they _just don't care_ enough to break down the door or pick the lock. They were told to look for droids, so they're looking for droids, but they don't see the Empire is so big that this must not seem like a particularly important objective to them. Doing the bare minimum could make sense.
This is the only channel where I can see a title like this and actually want to watch the video because I know it will probably be a fair and not actually that much hate filled discussion haha. First I wanted to point out that I loved Eric’s comment and loving liking things and not really talking about things I dislike. I’m the same way and that mentality is why i like him and the blind wave crews perspective on Star Wars. The things y’all don’t like in the Sequel Trilogy (especially how Rey kills Palpatine) is one of my favorite parts in the movie for me and I don’t agree about the force ghost thing at all doc either would have totally taken away from that being HER moment and I’m a little surprised y’all haven’t thought about that at all... Sounds a bit like y’all just wanted a cameo fest on that moment instead of letting it be an empowering moment Thor Rey. Love you guys but that was a little off putting to me and sounded like a complaint that this annoying dudes on twitter have that I would t expect from y’all🙃 Amd I was going to say it was nice to not see so much sequel hate in the replies, but then I scrolled down amd I was wrong… You would think Star Wars fans that got bullied for enjoying the PT wouldn’t do the same thing to people who live the ST, but I imagine wrong. one day people are going to turn around on those movies like they did the prequels (even though the ST was definitely received better than the PT even though no one want to ad,it that anymore)
Loved this video and hearing your thoughts! I knew Eric was gonna mention the inquisitor sabers haha I also agree about the misuse of Finn in the sequels. I was most excited for Finn's character arc after VII came out, and I really feel like it fell flat in VIII and by the time IX rolled around it was too little too late. I would've liked to see more of how his stormtrooper past affects his presentday actions (for example, leading a stormtrooper rebellion!) Just think his character had a lot of unique possibilities and none of them fully panned out. Another thing I'd say is that in retrospect, I wish VII hadn't followed the OT so closely to a T, because I think that led to the whiplash of VIII and then the subsequent backtracking of IX. Ofc at the time I was so incredibly hyped and swept up by VII, but with some time and distance, I don't like that VII feels a bit like a soft reset.
It’s heavily implied that Jedi and by extension Sith study and train in all the lightsaber forms. But the characters we see with prominent screen time (Anakin, Obi-wan, Dooku, Kit Fisto, Yoda and so on) specialize in one or two forms. It can be limiting if the character allows themselves to be limiting but it’s more of a building block than a limitation.
I hate the fact that the sequels undermined the chosen one prophecy. If the sequels were any random sci fi trilogy I would’ve enjoyed it but they ruined a perfect ending. Return of the Jedi will always be the end of the Skywalker Saga in my opinion
In my mind it works in the way that had Anakin not killed palps the first time he would’ve ruled forever, but because he did he set in motion the events that would put an end to palps plan of resurrection, meaning he’d still be the chosen one and his actions are what led to his downfall. It’s a bit of inference but it basically fixes that at least in my head
If you're salty about that, see "Dark Empire", released WAY back in 1991. The highly coveted EU already pulled a return of Palpatine (explained through cloning, which STILL undermines the prophecy), complete with overuse of super weapons (which I agree with the point in the video about how Star Wars shouldn't use them as a foil). So even if you choose to disregard the "Disney" canon and want to choose the old EU as the follow-up to ROTJ, the Chosen One prophecy is still ripped to shreds by Palps coming back...But hey, at least it's explained, right? Also, the newly returned EU clone Palpatine is done in mostly thanks to R2-D2.
is there a possibilty of you guys and another youtube channel doing another one of these quiz shows about star wars? the one with the normies i loved that way too much, hence why i'm asking :>
I really love your thoughts on star wars, even if I don't agree with all of them (it rarely happens) and I agree with your opinion about star wars fans online and how much they affect the story without even knowing
I agree with Eric about Disney+ aliens looking different to how they were depicted in the films. It's a minor speedbump, but sometimes those small details make all the difference.
100% about the Palpatine-Windu fight. It’s awful. Big disappointment, as is THE moment that the prequel trilogy turns on, and it’s just not great at ALL. Couldn’t agree more with Eric on this point.
I’m someone who enjoyed the sequels a decent bit, flaws and all. I just wish they planned the trilogy from the start. The biggest franchise ever should always be handled with care and diligence.
The Death Star dagger took me out of the movie , I was pissed , I was like wtf is Star Wars making me think of the goonies a lesser movie homage for !! It made me feel like I was an old man watching a movie made for kids
Great episode I especially like the last 10 minutes or so going over the fandom and your love of Star Wars and trying to build a more positive inviting community.
They should delete the scene where rey heals the snake and just have kylo do it for her so it seems more special, so canonically its kylo and grogu who can heal
When it comes to forms of combat styles I think its more to give reasoning than to limit. Its also important to note that all padawans must learn form 1 as its the most standard (almost like learning the basics). someone like Dooku is an elegant and coordinated dualist which is why he uses form 2 so well. precise and timely attacks to aggressively overcome an opponent. But leaves the attacker open to more attacks themselves naturally. comparatively to someone like Kenobi who studied form 3 and was therefore a defensive taction capable of withstanding large attacks with his lightsaber alone but would leave him lacking extensively as an attacker and thus his strong developments within the force and his ultimate reliance on that trust just like his master.
My biggest thing is sequels not "fitting" in the whole story. Even if you didnt like the prequels. You watch episodes 1-6 it feels logical imo. If you watch episodes 1-7 its still fine. Then there is a whole flip in episode 8 and again in 9 and it breaks the feeling of star wars skywalker saga being one BIG movie. They should have just stayd with one director for the sequels to have a single vision. Like im pretty certain Rian Johnson wasnt going to bring back palpatine and i like his thing of Rey being a nobody that everyone can be special. Then it was changed. I still like parts of episode 8 and 9 but as a whole they brake my own canon.
How in the world do the sequels “not fit”? It is a continuation of the OG movies. And it doesn’t “break canon” at all. There are stuff in the prequels you could say “break canon” with those points
@@Mads97415 what I mean is there was a single story in mind in episodes 1-6. The story definitely changed with J.J and Rhian Johnson. So some of it feels out of place for me. Like imagine if you don't watch any trailers for the sequels. You watch episode 7 and 8 and out of nowhere palpatine is alive.
I hated the ship that fen left being stalked by the star destroyer waiting for it to run out of gas , and fenn could just go and come back no problem ! The rose girl ramming Dennis snow scraper !! Rose was the worst character of all time completely shoe horned in !
I only dislike episode 9, although some of the stuff pulled for random content in the TV shows has been really good (ie the Nevarro Imperial base and project necromancer). Maybe i would have liked 9 slightly more, but it was rough. Nice vid.
I just cant have the approach eric has, just not possible. If something feels off or just bad story telling or whatever, i cant unsee that. One of my absolut biggest gripe with Star Wars is that the Empire or bad guy in general is always competent behind the scenes or offscreen or just spoken of, but their are always being portrait as the clumsy stupid or whatever, i always think to myself, how the hell did these guys becomes the ruler of the galaxy
The Chosen One as a concept is the thing I dislike the most about Star Wars. It turns Vader's sacrifice from a man saving his son into something that Space Jesus was predestined to do from the moment he was born. There was never actually a choice Vader made, he was always going to kill Palpatine there. Which makes the ending less satisfying, it's far more satisfying if Vader CHOOSES to turn his back on the dark side and save his son. I tend to just ignore it, because it doesn't really have as much bearing on the plot of the Prequels as you'd think it would, and it has zero bearing on the plot of the OT or Sequels.
*Leia being able to remember padme when she was born bcs of the force* Star wars fans: okay. *leia able to survive in soace and save herself* Star wars fans: this breaks lore. Worst star wars movie
Guy on the left weird opinion about lightsabers forms surprised me. Its either one of those weird hangups, or he just compl. misunderstood idea of those forms. I mean just because specific Jedi is considered master of Soresu, it DOSNT mean he never trained or use any other form. Any skilled Jedi trained in at least most of those forms, if not all and def. uses multiple of them in fight when its beneficial. BUT if his prefered form is enough for specific combat obv. he stay with that 1 - its his best, strongest form, form that suits best to his talents and personality. And on top of that even while he is using his prefered form he can sneak in moves from other forms here and there when needed - combat with risk of death is not olympics where you MUST stay in specific restrictions and forms and stances to not loose points.
Yeah I really dont get people who blame ACTOR for ACTING the way its in the SCRIPT and doing a good job making you dont like them?????????????????????????? BRO
I just hate that the sequels had everything go so badly for everyone from the OT. The rebellion basically failed since the first order took over and was powerful enough to have a super-deathstar within 30 years.
I think a big part od that is how it's poorly communicated so fans like you asume that The new republic lasted like a decade more than thr galactic empire the rebels did succed The thing is the first order is just a fancy name for imperial remanents Spending 30 years massing enough force, I'm not talking down to you because people go ballistic when told they are mistaken. The first order was never stronger then the new republic, the star killer base is not the death star it didnt kill a peaceful world to infuse terror it destroyed several key worlds of the new republic with the defense fleets and all Star killer is a successful one hit, crippling the new republic for the rest of the series The young empire who is a glorified Episode 3 republic made the death star rather fast it took years to get the kyber thing going, the star killer base STARTED being build just after the death star (in the Ashoka novel illum is being mined with a huge trench illum is where msot kyber is from and in the galacgic maps suspiciously whete star killer is) That means the empire and it's remanents had over 30 years to do that and the first order fleet while impressive is a fraction of the Galaxy spanfing empire Tldr firsy order was never as big as people think just concentrated in a few places and projects people just want to believe its so big to complain, star killer is perfectly reasonable it's not an artificial moon it's a death star build inside a small planetoid and once it shot it already did the heavy lifting for the first order Imagine if the separatists destroyed 5+ worlds of high republic value, when they were not expecting a war and we're on defensive duty it's a crippling blow
@@StinkyBuster well that's what I get for trying to be nice and explain stuff that's been a common misconception for about a decade and putting effprt into a post
@kR-qj7rw you basically just explained how the first order was as big as it was but my problem isn't how they did it, it's that they did it at all. It sucks to just undo a happy ending entirely.
@@StinkyBuster I see, well that's un avoidable tbh, the legends new republic eventually ended up merging with the empire last bastion... Which is never really dig into but every good stuff under it started to become more.like the Kate old republic One of the so kids went evil too for s bit and one got horny on another Anakin like fascist fuck and then there's the vong killing trillions of people Happy endings are not invalidated for what comes nexts because well it isn't an end to the universe, anyone however can just stop at whatever point they feel happy about it, it's something I never felt myself how something happening after even if I dislike it a lot can never ruin how good something made me feel earlier Now if you excuse me I hwve to get up to school
When I was watching the 6 movies on television on a fairly big screen, long ago, like 2012 maybe, I remember watching Phantom menace, which I had watched before, and then still, I never noticed force speed, like I just didn't see it, and I thought they just run away, maybe because I experienced the story originally through Lego Star Wars the compleat saga, so I added thing that weren't there, and removed thing that were in the movies

Inquisitor: *starts spinning his lightsaber and flies away...*
I will re-watch Rebels reactions just for Eric's hatred of those lightsabers 😂
Literally first thing I knew would be in his list lol
Hahaha!!! I feel the hate in Eric!!!
Nah but seriously I completely agree with him
Episode source? @@tinal8447

And then there are people who will literally hate or criticize anything.
Honestly, how do people like that even consume any media

@@rogueseven they could have just ended Watto for being a slaver and have been done with it
@@theaces3697 That evil Watto raising Anakin basically as a surrogate son, teaching him mechanics and letting him pursue his passions as a racer/pilot.
There's many reasons why that wouldn't work

Also the Jedi path book talks about Jedi using multiple elements to develop their own personal style
I dislike a lot of things but can forgive almost all of them. There's only one thing I can't:
The Holdo Maneuver.
The think I hate about the sequels is that they establish cool new characters in TFA and totally made them stupid in TLJ and ROS!!
I think Force Speed was used once in _The Clone Wars'_ episode "Defenders of Peace", when Anakin dodges cannon fire.
And by Luke, when he Forcespeed jumped out of the Carbonite chamber
One thing I don’t like is regarding the bacta tank scenes in Book of Boba Fett. He’s sleeping submerged, and his nose is not closed! Even Luke had his nose pinched closed in ESB.
This is actually very refreshing to hear but done nicely so far, good stuff!
Exactly. I don't need hate from these guys, but point out when something doesn't work for them.
54:34 Starkiller base wasn’t being built btw, there was just a big trench because the Empire was mining it for kyber crystals. The First Order used the trench to build Starkiller Base.

You're by far my favourite Star Wars youtubers :)
Princess Leia being in her mother's womb is what she remembers the feelings of her mom being sad

Right!
Not a big fan of attaching labels and pinning down a mystical aspect into logic.
to be fair, i blame the videogames for that.
@@marleykirton Yeah, this is all true enough. There are probably still a few niche use cases for it but it's mostly not worth the risk.
@@gazzamanazza4pm the only scene I can think of where it would have any use would be when Luke is smashing on Vader in RotJ, even then I would argue that in the split second Luke would take to pull Trakata off Vader could have just force pushed him out of the way or struck back

Obi Wan - Soresu etc)
In the topic of Mace Windu, Vaapad is his own creation but he doesnt actually always use it.
I could go on forever 😂
PS: spoilers for the Ascendancy book series: also I’d love to see his long-lost sister come into play. Such a rich dynamic to explore.
I love that the most heated argument was about how fat gamorrean guards should be 😂 those are real Star Wars fans right there
Ultimately, I just hate the way they handled Finn’s character.
Super cool critique tho homie👌👍
During the clone wars, it should become more like militaries or police do with their soldiers or officers, they are taught a "combat form" specific to the environment they're in.
the stuff with Ochi of Bestoon's dagger was explained in the Shadow Of The Sith novel. Hope y'all get around to it, it's a really great book.

It's called having standards and not eating shit that DSW shoves down our throats.
The whole Leah thing about her remembering Padme can literally be hand waved away with the force
The things I really hate are how the older fans kinda made everyone involved with the prequels seem like they were terrible for making the prequels. The hate actors got that was so undeserved from the older fanbase that are just now getting the love they deserve
Padme did die of sadness.
Yep! Fans just try to find anything to justify bad writing
I always hated that, and like how hard would that be to fix? Make Anakin hurt her a bit more or just say he dealt a fatal wound choking her and she just had hours to live. Or add in something with Palp causing it. It would not be hard to fix that so come on George lol
Palpatine killed her
@@smittydog16 Thats entirely fan theory in an attempt to fix it.
In case you haven’t read it, the Death Star dagger actually has a pretty good explanation in Shadow of the Sith
Didn't Luke use Force speed when he jumped out of the carbonite chamber?
I hate that Rey gave Anakin’s lightsaber to Kylo instead of Leah’s. Rey used Then used Kylo’s mother’s instead of the one, she trains with, uses in all three movies, and the one that she has more connection with.
Jabbas Gam Gaurds had a lush job loads of food , the huts probably liked thier Gaurds to be hefty to make them feel better about themselves
i agree the idea of it being dishonourable is silly, youre not using the darkside for it so its fine but youd do anything to gain an advantage, my headcanon for why they dont turn off sabers and turn them on again, is that its stupid and would get the user killed, if you turn off a lightsaber that swing is now going through your body.
"hold your fire, theres no life forms on that pod" always makes me family guy's Blue Harvest
which made me realize that they've never reacted to it on the channel before, have they not seen it?? they NEED to watch them!! they fit soo well with this "things i dislike" type video, Seth MacFarlane basically made 3 whole episodes based on poking holes in Star Wars logic
I always thought Luke's hand getting shot was because he was going for an overhead strike with his lightsaber, we see later in the film he beats vader by using a series of heavy-handed overhead strikes so i always assumed he had been going for one and the guy happened to shoot at his hand as he raised it.
I remember corran horn used mess around with turning off the lightsaber mid fight, against the vong I believe.

Sounds a bit like y’all just wanted
a cameo fest on that moment instead of letting it be an empowering moment Thor Rey.
I knew Eric was gonna mention the inquisitor sabers haha
I also agree about the misuse of Finn in the sequels.
For me, the Canto Bight sequence is about turning Finn into a real Rebel. It could have been done better, but it did have a purpose to me.

All they had to do was have Anakin's force ghost fight Sidious at the end of 9 and the trilogy would have been fine for that alone. But no
If you're salty about that, see "Dark Empire", released WAY back in 1991.

Having watching the whole thing: I agree with *everything* Eric said in this video. He’s spot on.
I’m someone who enjoyed the sequels a decent bit, flaws and all.
I just wish they planned the trilogy from the start. The biggest franchise ever should always be handled with care and diligence.

Ive always thought the trakata technique was only frowned upon when used in classical duals or training. And therefore wouldn't apply to combat.
Well it was her final steps of the skywalker saga... so what he said was true, from a certain point of view...
Yep, you convinced me. - Eric
And also I think "hate" is a strong word. I dislike stuff but don't really hate.
I can’t think of anything I hate, just things that bug me.
It's not something I hate but I dislike that ahsoka wasn't animated, it was basically rebels s5 and I would have preferred it animated personally

That thumbnail lookin kinda wild…
Yeah I really dont get people who blame ACTOR for ACTING the way its in the SCRIPT and doing a good job making you dont like them??????????????????????????

I just hate that the sequels had everything go so badly for everyone from the OT. The rebellion basically failed since the first order took over and was powerful enough to have a super-deathstar within 30 years.
I think a big part od that is how it's poorly communicated so fans like you asume that
The new republic lasted like a decade more than thr galactic empire the rebels did succed
The thing is the first order is just a fancy name for imperial remanents
Spending 30 years massing enough force, I'm not talking down to you because people go ballistic when told they are mistaken.
The first order was never stronger then the new republic, the star killer base is not the death star it didnt kill a peaceful world to infuse terror it destroyed several key worlds of the new republic with the defense fleets and all
Star killer is a successful one hit, crippling the new republic for the rest of the series
The young empire who is a glorified Episode 3 republic made the death star rather fast it took years to get the kyber thing going, the star killer base STARTED being build just after the death star (in the Ashoka novel illum is being mined with a huge trench illum is where msot kyber is from and in the galacgic maps suspiciously whete star killer is)
That means the empire and it's remanents had over 30 years to do that and the first order fleet while impressive is a fraction of the Galaxy spanfing empire
Tldr firsy order was never as big as people think just concentrated in a few places and projects people just want to believe its so big to complain, star killer is perfectly reasonable it's not an artificial moon it's a death star build inside a small planetoid and once it shot it already did the heavy lifting for the first order Imagine if the separatists destroyed 5+ worlds of high republic value, when they were not expecting a war and we're on defensive duty it's a crippling blow

I didn't realize until pretty recently that they even used force speed in ep 1. I always just kinda thought it was an editing/vfx mistake
