@ItzLevi31I agree with you on Sonic 06 being an underrated masterpiece, the problems with it stems from it being a prototype that was completely rushed into stores, but showed Shadow's growth from Shadow the Hedgehog and introduced the perfect flawed hero for Sonic: Silver.

I get you said you don’t consider Shadow Gens as mainline but i’d have to argue against that, especially if you counted Shadow The Hedgehog game. I think a mainline Sonic game is any game that adds to the current story of Sonic a.k.a. canonical game. The wikipedia says “Shadow Generations is a 2024 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. The second mainline Sonic the Hedgehog game to feature Shadow as a protagonist, its plot runs parallel to Sonic Generations” . So in total, i think it’s mainline for sure, but i guess everyone has their own opinion on that. I used to think mania wasn’t mainline but since it led right into Forces, it might be.

Last year a friend helped me get an Xbox 360 console. A brand-new copy of Unleashed and a used copy of Sonic 06 are what I've been playing on it. Whenever I get stuck these days in any game I look for an online walkthrough so that I can know what to do. I've made it to where I can get into Eggmanland, but I've planned to try to level Sonic up to the max before I'll first attempt to get through that infamous stage. I kind-of agree with you about 06 being a hidden masterpiece because there hasn't seemed to be too many glitches during my first playthrough. So-far the opening cutscene froze up too many times so I skipped that cutscene. When I got to the Dusty Desert ball-puzzle in Silver's story, the glitch to get through the wall didn't work so I looked for a video about how to get through that part the intended way then after some tries I completed that part. Shadow's story wasn't hard, so now my only problem now is me being stuck in Kingdom Valley as Sonic because at a part where I do some homing attacks to get to a line of rings, the Light Speed dash rarely works there so I keep bouncing down and when I rarely do get through that part I've usually lost enough lives so getting through the mach-speed section feels harder but I've been planning to keep trying instead of let that make me want to give up. I decided to get the console version so that I could play through a version of 06 that does have the story mode and the hub-worlds before I could get this gaming laptop in December last year to try P-06 and any other games on it after I get help on how to do PC game downloads and any modding because I've never done that stuff before.

I love your look on Sonic 06. I haven’t played it and heard that it’s glitchy. But what I love about 06, no matter how buggy it may be, is how ambitious the game was and that the game kind of was screwed over because of SEGA splitting the team for 06 in half to make Secret Rings as well.
i used to say sonic 06 was my favorite game even tho i hadnt completed a single story. now, as someone who has beaten all 3 stories and is going to do the final one, sonic 06 will be my favorite game forever!

11:18 I'm just wondering, but did you ever run into any issues during the super speed stages or the snowboarding stages? Did you find any of the hub world mini-games to be annoying like finding the stupid captain or counting a certain number of boxes? Did you find some of the cutscenes to be a little bit cringey especially the Sonic and Elise ones? Did you ever get annoyed whenever a stupid loading screen popped up, especially after an npc says one sentence of dialogue? I understand that this is your list and you certainly allowed to like something, but I got to be honest, I don't think you put much thought into this ranking, especially when talking about Sonic 06
Yeah I really didn’t run into many of those issues tbh. Loading screens didnt bother me because I play it on Xenia, finding the captain is a clever mission, and once you know it you can beat it in like 4 seconds. Snowboarding I just got better at tbh. Same with mach speed. The Sonic and Elise cutscenes are a little cringeworthy, but I can forgive it because of the writing in the meta era games being much worse. I’ve played this game from beginning to end about 3 times, and I think I can say, its an overhated and underrated game! 😂 (Sonic fans are gonna kill me)
@ItzLevi31 I find it very surprising that you somehow encountered no issues at all during your 3 play-throughs of the game. Anyways, it's completely fine to like the game, i'm not saying that you can't like it, but can you admit that all of the things that I mentioned are valid reasons as to why many people don't like the game? People aren't just hating the game just for the sake of hating it.
21:59 My Headcanon is that Robotnik added Invincibility-Frames on those Robots whenever they get hit which lasts for a few Seconds. That never bothered me
I love 06 despite its issues and i will always say "blame Sega" because since Sega didn't wanted to push the release date, devs didn't have time to fix the numerous crash of the game so they used a previous build, broken but finishable I wish the game was remastered in a "definitive" edition, because it don't need much to be fixed

I'll be real - Sonic 06 is only bad because Sega rushed it out for the holidays. Anyone who's played Project 06 has seen what the game could've been if given more time to cook. And besides, anyone who keeps saying it's the worst of the series has never played Sonic Free Riders

Think sonic 06 is dope. Yeah the loading times, glitches and that one scene are bad, but besides that i really like it. With project 06 you get the best experience.

I really like the concept of the story in 06, the levels are well designed and the music is great. It's just the execution that was done poorly. My main isues with the game is the poor optimization (specifically the PS3) and the controls for any character except for blaze and Sonic, the voice acting is kinda odd and the characters are definitely the weakest in the series expect for eggman and shadow. But i was genuinely supriesed woth the fact that i barley ran into glicthes in the game
What is with the ‘06 glazers nowadays? If you really didn’t have any glitches, then great for you, but that doesn’t change the fact it has arguably the worst controls in any Sonic game (not including the games with motion controls), clunky movement, a convoluted story (I’ll never forgive ‘06 for the Blaze retcon), and just overall bad levels. If you like the game then that’s just your opinion, but I just want to present mine. Frankly, when looking at only mainline games, it’s easily the worst in the series.

@ Was ‘06 like, the first Sonic game you played? That’s the only way I could see you thinking the controls are fine. Not only does it have unresponsive input, but each character feels like they’re constantly sliding on ice, and it doesn’t help that the game has some of the worst physics in any Sonic game. At the end of the day, if you like it, you like it. Personally, my favorite game is Colors, it was the first Sonic game I played, so I’d understand if you liked ‘06 cuz it was the first-of one of the first Sonic games you played.

You can easily get better at the treasure hunting by covering a lot of ground. Obviously people are gonna be bad at the game when they first play it. Mech shooting can be a little annoying, but I still really like it.
@ItzLevi31 they are still not fun play styles and treasure hunting is luck based, there is no skill involved, they downgraded the radar from the first adventure game and it jumbles up hints to make the illusion of it being more challenging, werehog stages clear the 2/3rds of adventure 2 and no that game doesn’t deserve S tier either
@SAMURAIPACK456 Yeah I don’t wanna argue, but Ill just state my opinion here: I’ve heard similar people say the same things about the treasure hunting stages, but its not about just playing them and saying they’re garbage. Its about getting good at them that way they become so much better, as you can trim down so much time once you know the level. If all the emeralds were trackable like SA1 the game would be so much shorter, and this IS the sequel, so obviously they should make it more challenging, and I respect that. Now, I understand why people dont like Mech Shooting, but heres the thing: they’re actually a lot of fun if you play them casually. If you’re going for A ranks, then they’re definitely harder. But still, SA2 is just so awesome in my opinion, obviously we can’t agree on everything, but I just enjoyed the game so much.
@ your opinion on a game doesn’t ≠ it being one of the best sonic games of all time, how can you get good at treasure hunting stages when A is not built for skill based gameplay and B is unenjoyable in the first place, when i pick up a sonic game i expect to be able to go fast at all times and challenge myself to keep my speed in difficult level design, treasure hunting in adventure 1 is tolerable but one of the less enjoyable gameplay styles in the entire game, next to amy and big stages, the mechanics in SA1 give you lee way by placing tical in these levels and how you can navigate through them, the game allows you to track 3 emeralds at a time and thus even will all of these helpful signs those levels can still last up to 1 or 2 minutes depending on it’s level design which is the average length of most sonic games With SA2’s treasure hunting stages hints in the later parts of the game like death chamber and mad space barely help you on where you can search in the first place and the radar only lets you track one at a time which normal radars are not suppose to do in the first place, and these levels are also massive in length and verticality like pumpkin hill and meteor heard, treasure hunting for those reasons are one of the most unenjoyable play styles in the entire franchise Mech shooting isn’t any better in fact it’s more inferior then the gama stages in SA1, in SA1 you have more fast pace turning and is able to shoot in all directions and has better range and more open level design, your movement speed is also faster from the fact you can use wheels to boost your overall movement speed Mech stages in SA2 is far more slower in movement and turning and aiming at enemies is more tedious of the fact that vertical aiming is more clunky and it’s more obvious in levels like iron gate when trying to open doors to progress through the levels, also it’s level design is significantly more linear throughout the 2/3rds of the game that is not treasure hunting, most of mech stages level design sums up to robots falling on top of you and placing crushing platform right on top of the entire road, and in also the treasure hunting stages they place crushing platforms on switches so that trying you always get hit when trying to open something like a door or a rocked to progress so objectively speaking treasure hunting and mech shooting have nothing to do with skill and are unenjoyable levels throughout 80% of your experience, it’s not a skill issue to criticise them and i do not care for your opinion on these stages either, everything that made SA1 so enjoyable to people is significantly worse in adventure 2, you don’t get to choose who you play as, there’s no hub world and theres no good pacing here either If you payed attention to the amount of levels in the game sonic, tails, knuckles, rouge, and eggmans levels all have 7 stages, and shadow (the game that’s all about his backstory and character arc) has only 4 levels, so basically there are less speed stages then there are mech shooting and treasure hunting stages in the entire game, thus speed stages barely take up 20% And speaking of speed stages those levels are ass too from the fact that ramps and tilted terrain is jank and the tubes and curves through out green/white jungle can actually hinder you from spindashing properly from the fact that you need even terrain to spin dash, rail grinding was the first in 3D and was done terribly, you can be a hair away from the rails and the game will still refuse to let you on them, and even when you are on them pressing B to speed you up will cause the speed characters to tilt and slow down instantly and trying to speed back up again will be detrimental from the fact that most rails in the game are over bottomless pits When it comes to speed characters move sets spin dashing, summer salts, light speed dashing and holding things are mapped to the same button and can overwrite itself of your actual intentions of the levels, with levels like city escape, metal harbour, green forrest levels should not be as linear as they are cause what made adventure 1’s levels so repayable, fun and enjoyable in the first place is that it’s level design is more open, focused more on speed and and better enemy placements, and branching pathways letting you get creative of it’s near perfect movement and controls Also SA1’s controls are significantly better, they may still have most of his move set down in the same button like the air brake and spin dash and light dash but they are now separated even greatly so that you don’t mess up failing a light dash, and it’s physics are much more fixed, SA2 could have been a good sonic game but it’s level design, controls and unenjoyable play styles are the clearest reasons on why SA2 is a C tier sonic game If you refuse to read this that’s your problem, that would only prove that you lack the comprehension to read and it doesn’t correlate to you proving me wrong either, so instead of telling me to get good, go actually defend this game with justifiable reasons for why mech shooting and treasure hunting deserves to be in this game instead of rambling on about your childhood. And don’t come at me with “it’s my opinion” opinions are allowed to be challenged and they should also come with justifiable reasons of your takes in the first place, if you claim SA2 to be one of the best sonic games of all time go actually back up it’s entire level design and it’s mechanics.

11:18 I'm just wondering, but did you ever run into any issues during the super speed stages or the snowboarding stages? Did you find any of the hub world mini-games to be annoying like finding the stupid captain or counting a certain number of boxes? Did you find some of the cutscenes to be a little bit cringey especially the Sonic and Elise ones? Did you ever get annoyed whenever a stupid loading screen popped up, especially after an npc says one sentence of dialogue? I understand that this is your list and you certainly allowed to like something, but I got to be honest, I don't think you put much thought into this ranking, especially when talking about Sonic 06
Yeah I really didn’t run into many of those issues tbh. Loading screens didnt bother me because I play it on Xenia, finding the captain is a clever mission, and once you know it you can beat it in like 4 seconds. Snowboarding I just got better at tbh. Same with mach speed. The Sonic and Elise cutscenes are a little cringeworthy, but I can forgive it because of the writing in the meta era games being much worse.
I’ve played this game from beginning to end about 3 times, and I think I can say, its an overhated and underrated game! 😂 (Sonic fans are gonna kill me)
@ItzLevi31 I find it very surprising that you somehow encountered no issues at all during your 3 play-throughs of the game. Anyways, it's completely fine to like the game, i'm not saying that you can't like it, but can you admit that all of the things that I mentioned are valid reasons as to why many people don't like the game? I love 06 despite its issues and i will always say "blame Sega"
because since Sega didn't wanted to push the release date, devs didn't have time to fix the numerous crash of the game so they used a previous build, broken but finishable
I wish the game was remastered in a "definitive" edition, because it don't need much to be fixed

I really like the concept of the story in 06, the levels are well designed and the music is great. It's just the execution that was done poorly.
My main isues with the game is the poor optimization (specifically the PS3) and the controls for any character except for blaze and Sonic, the voice acting is kinda odd and the characters are definitely the weakest in the series expect for eggman and shadow. But i was genuinely supriesed woth the fact that i barley ran into glicthes in the game

What is with the ‘06 glazers nowadays? If you really didn’t have any glitches, then great for you, but that doesn’t change the fact it has arguably the worst controls in any Sonic game (not including the games with motion controls), clunky movement, a convoluted story (I’ll never forgive ‘06 for the Blaze retcon), and just overall bad levels. If you like the game then that’s just your opinion, but I just want to present mine. Frankly, when looking at only mainline games, it’s easily the worst in the series.

@ Was ‘06 like, the first Sonic game you played? That’s the only way I could see you thinking the controls are fine. Not only does it have unresponsive input, but each character feels like they’re constantly sliding on ice, and it doesn’t help that the game has some of the worst physics in any Sonic game. At the end of the day, if you like it, you like it. Personally, my favorite game is Colors, it was the first Sonic game I played, so I’d understand if you liked ‘06 cuz it was the first-of one of the first Sonic games you played.

You can easily get better at the treasure hunting by covering a lot of ground. Obviously people are gonna be bad at the game when they first play it. Mech shooting can be a little annoying, but I still really like it.

I’ve heard similar people say the same things about the treasure hunting stages, but its not about just playing them and saying they’re garbage. Its about getting good at them that way they become so much better, as you can trim down so much time once you know the level. If all the emeralds were trackable like SA1 the game would be so much shorter, and this IS the sequel, so obviously they should make it more challenging, and I respect that.
Now, I understand why people dont like Mech Shooting, but heres the thing: they’re actually a lot of fun if you play them casually. If you’re going for A ranks, then they’re definitely harder.
But still, SA2 is just so awesome in my opinion, obviously we can’t agree on everything, but I just enjoyed the game so much.
@ your opinion on a game doesn’t ≠ it being one of the best sonic games of all time, how can you get good at treasure hunting stages when A is not built for skill based gameplay and B is unenjoyable in the first place, when i pick up a sonic game i expect to be able to go fast at all times and challenge myself to keep my speed in difficult level design, treasure hunting in adventure 1 is tolerable but one of the less enjoyable gameplay styles in the entire game, next to amy and big stages, the mechanics in SA1 give you lee way by placing tical in these levels and how you can navigate through them, the game allows you to track 3 emeralds at a time and thus even will all of these helpful signs those levels can still last up to 1 or 2 minutes depending on it’s level design which is the average length of most sonic games
With SA2’s treasure hunting stages hints in the later parts of the game like death chamber and mad space barely help you on where you can search in the first place and the radar only lets you track one at a time which normal radars are not suppose to do in the first place, and these levels are also massive in length and verticality like pumpkin hill and meteor heard, treasure hunting for those reasons are one of the most unenjoyable play styles in the entire franchise
Mech shooting isn’t any better in fact it’s more inferior then the gama stages in SA1, in SA1 you have more fast pace turning and is able to shoot in all directions and has better range and more open level design, your movement speed is also faster from the fact you can use wheels to boost your overall movement speed
Mech stages in SA2 is far more slower in movement and turning and aiming at enemies is more tedious of the fact that vertical aiming is more clunky and it’s more obvious in levels like iron gate when trying to open doors to progress through the levels, also it’s level design is significantly more linear throughout the 2/3rds of the game that is not treasure hunting, most of mech stages level design sums up to robots falling on top of you and placing crushing platform right on top of the entire road, and in also the treasure hunting stages they place crushing platforms on switches so that trying you always get hit when trying to open something like a door or a rocked to progress so objectively speaking treasure hunting and mech shooting have nothing to do with skill and are unenjoyable levels throughout 80% of your experience, it’s not a skill issue to criticise them and i do not care for your opinion on these stages either, everything that made SA1 so enjoyable to people is significantly worse in adventure 2, you don’t get to choose who you play as, there’s no hub world and theres no good pacing here either
If you payed attention to the amount of levels in the game sonic, tails, knuckles, rouge, and eggmans levels all have 7 stages, and shadow (the game that’s all about his backstory and character arc) has only 4 levels, so basically there are less speed stages then there are mech shooting and treasure hunting stages in the entire game, thus speed stages barely take up 20%
And speaking of speed stages those levels are ass too from the fact that ramps and tilted terrain is jank and the tubes and curves through out green/white jungle can actually hinder you from spindashing properly from the fact that you need even terrain to spin dash, rail grinding was the first in 3D and was done terribly, you can be a hair away from the rails and the game will still refuse to let you on them, and even when you are on them pressing B to speed you up will cause the speed characters to tilt and slow down instantly and trying to speed back up again will be detrimental from the fact that most rails in the game are over bottomless pits
When it comes to speed characters move sets spin dashing, summer salts, light speed dashing and holding things are mapped to the same button and can overwrite itself of your actual intentions of the levels, with levels like city escape, metal harbour, green forrest levels should not be as linear as they are cause what made adventure 1’s levels so repayable, fun and enjoyable in the first place is that it’s level design is more open, focused more on speed and and better enemy placements, and branching pathways letting you get creative of it’s near perfect movement and controls
Also SA1’s controls are significantly better, they may still have most of his move set down in the same button like the air brake and spin dash and light dash but they are now separated even greatly so that you don’t mess up failing a light dash, and it’s physics are much more fixed, SA2 could have been a good sonic game but it’s level design, controls and unenjoyable play styles are the clearest reasons on why SA2 is a C tier sonic game
If you refuse to read this that’s your problem, that would only prove that you lack the comprehension to read and it doesn’t correlate to you proving me wrong either, so instead of telling me to get good, go actually defend this game with justifiable reasons for why mech shooting and treasure hunting deserves to be in this game instead of rambling on about your childhood. And don’t come at me with “it’s my opinion” opinions are allowed to be challenged and they should also come with justifiable reasons of your takes in the first place, if you claim SA2 to be one of the best sonic games of all time go actually back up it’s entire level design and it’s mechanics.
