  • In this Friday 5 minutes to better filmmaking and photography I want to show you how to set up your drone to film the best footage possible. There is a simple trick that you can use to save jerky drone footage. to make a drone shot useable all you really need is 5-10 seconds but sometimes your drone shot has a jerk or other motion that you don't want in the footage. This is a simple way to be able to give yourself extra footage to rescue those shots and still be able to use them!

    Thank you Jake - we'll give the higher frame rate trick a try - might make for more epic sailing clips ! Cheers, Gavin & Amanda

      That sounds like a great time to use this trick. In your case if you can use 60fps so you can do actual slow motion when your boat hits a wave 😉

    great tips Jake.. I've been doing the 80% spped for my drone footage for awhile..Its a nice touch to slow it down ever so slightly. Thanks for sharing

    In Adobe premiere click the 30fps clip, go to Modify/ Interpret Footage and Assume Frame rate to 24 or 25. The clip will be slowed exactly and you do not have to do anything else.

    Hi Jake. As a novice pilot I get these judders a lot 😥. Just wanted to get clear in my head ... The slowing down is used to make the smooth periods between the judders useable footage? You aren't trying to repair the bit of video where the rapid shift is occurring? Thanks

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  3 года назад

      exactly right, slowing down the footage is done so you have enough footage between the judders to use! Cheers

    Jake this was good info for me. I put up a video and had trbl after it was uploaded. I like this type of information. I’m not a perfectionist but I do believe if I’m going to upload I want to do it right. Still learning.
    Thanks Sloan Ranger. Lol

    Hey Jake. I also shoot/edit in 24fps. Would you recommend 60fps in general with our Mavic air2 for our upcoming Alaska trip? We hope to capture my of the epic shots that you’ve showcased. 👍

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  3 года назад

      I would do 30 for most things. 60 is good for slow motion stuff but if you just want to slow stuff down a little bit it's easier to slow down and match to 24fps.

    So... what kind of shutterspeed you use by editing in 24fps.. p.s. Thanks for the video leave you the abo

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  3 года назад +1

      You always want to use a shutter speed that is 2x your frame rate so 48 but the closest is 50 so 50 it is.
