    At 2:02 is that Blackstone bay out of Whittier and when was that taken? I was out there and drove past that boat in a 27 foot sea sport right where that boat was sitting. The 3rd glacier back there I flew my mavic air up the side bye the waterfall and there is like a supper cool glacier pool up there

    You really emphasize line of sight. But in reality, what is that distance? Depends on your visual acuity. Depends on the weather. Depends on whether you are shooting into the sun. So many of the great videos that you see cannot possibly be VLOS. Because that would limit your distance to approximately 500-1000 feet max. It is the same with height limitation. Once you fly from a cliff over a valley, your almost always above 400 feet AGL.

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  4 года назад

      Exactly. VLOS depends on many factors almost all of which are changing by the minute. On a good day in good weather I can easily go out 2,500ft and still maintain vlos. The reason I emphasize it so much is the many examples here on RUclips of people blatantly disregarding safe practices in how far or where they fly their drones. Cheers

    I have a zero-x pro ascend and the home button returns it to a 3mtr landing area, that mat would be pointless ?

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  2 года назад

      likely yes it would be pointless unless you see where the drone is coming down and place it under just before it lands

    Line of sight is important because you can see the birds that WILL attack your drone.

    There's a setting in the DJI GO4 app to have it tune to return to your controller, specifically for the type of flight you're talking about. Launching and landing from a moving location, boat, etc
