It's November 2017 and I still find these films inspiring as a designer and artist in Second Life and for me personally, they are a great reminder that the higher calling of any virtual world is to build your dreams and be able to walk through the dreams of others.
I have been in Second Life over nine years and this is by far the most amazing architecture I have ever seen, brilliant, absolutely brilliant! Today you change my perception, thank you
Absolutely beautiful! An exemplary build and film for me to share with my friends who still don't get my facination and love for SL. Thank-you for making and sharing.
Yes...YESSSSSSSSSSSS...THIS is what Second Life is! This should be upheld as the example..the benchmark of what our world is. Far too often I see a "Gamer" visit and say WTF a billion times because they think its like those early days witnessed in the opening joke. Even Phillip Rosedales new pet project "High Fidelity" seems to be ignorantly trying to get away from something Second Life just isn't anymore. Second life is brilliant and beautiful and offers people endless opportunities to experience whatever they want. ...if they just get their head out of that thoughtspace its just massive groups of odd avatars in a public place having screaming matches.
Mr. Angel again I thank you for letting me dream my dream in your creations. Honestly I have lived my little girl life that I never had as a little girl at your Manor. I am all that I always wanted to be there also. I am so happy and grateful that I found Angel Manor. Thank you . Sometimes I cant stay when there are lots of people but I also now try to have some of your builds and use them in my photos. I am so so grateful Mr. Angel for everything you do. Again thank you and keep up the great work. Willow
I love this place. Most definitely shows the beauty and creativity of all the great people in Second Life. A true piece of Art. Thank you for sharing your perception with all of us to enjoy :)
Beautiful build and video. Thank you for sharing your creations that enhance SL for us all. There are also plenty of things to "do" in SL besides looking at virtual things-as someone indicates below. The imagination is the limit really.
Just outstanding! You've done a fantastic job of capturing what could be considered the best of Second Life. Great work, not only in the video - which is excellent, but also in the build. I have many fond memories from your estate, and hope to continue making many more! Thank you Kaya.
Thanks for sharing this- it's stunningly beautiful work, and a wonderful way to showcase what SL can be. I plan to visit soon, with camera in hand and my graphics cranked up.
It is perfect. This is also why I love Second Life. Those lights and colors, the camera movement is flawless. I love being there. Congratulations Kaya. ♥
After reading Becky's blog I had to see this and I must say, it is truly a virtual work of art. "Seven Wonders of SL" :D Your mapping gives me confidence in my builds. I love your quote, well said; It is virtual reality not 'real life'.
It is amazing the way you are creating your own world in second life. How much work and dedication behind all that! You are enjoying a lot and many people too :) I like very much the movement of the camera and the high quality of the graphics. Congratulations!
Very nice! I want to come explore you manor to give me ideas on what to build in the space station above the city I built that is a beautiful forest city.
i am on second life for 9 and this is the most beautifull place i have seen! wow!! congratulations to you my friend. amazing! 👏👏👏❤ i would love it if you would put lm in the description! p.s. dont go on my channel im now feeling embarassed lol
They broke the place when they closed down the kiddie only section and turned them loose amongst the Adult section. I unsubscribed at the very moment and so did anyone else with half a brain.
Rodney Orpheus Most of it still is. There are gems, but you have to know how to get to them. Linden Lab continues to be lazy or stupid or both in not clearing up the junk, the abandoned lands, the miserable skyboxes and airborne advertising. It wouldn't take much focused effort. Instead they are a laughingstock. I just returned for a visit using the 7-day free trial of "SLGo", which makes it possible for any old computer to get fantastic graphics. I recommend it. But Linden Lab puts next to no intelligent effort at hooking up new or unfamiliar users with the hidden gems of SL. Instead it feels like a huge ugly strip mall.
Rickey Moore Given that education is the one area where SL was really successful, closing down the teen grid and removing the educators' discount was mind-bogglingly stupid.
Kaya, I wrote a blog post inspired by your comments relating to the criticisms of specular textures - you might find it interesting: canarybeck.com/2015/01/28/a-model-for-categorising-virtual-places-in-second-life/
I've been a resident of Second Life for a little over 9 years, Second Life is 11 years old. Machinima is the software used to make videos of your presence in SL and then can be uploaded to your favorite website as an mp4 or format of your choice. I speak from experience when I say you have to have a good working system and you should have an approved graphics chipset or graphics card/set for using SL which is outlined in their helps. Most people can achieve 30-60 FPS (frames per second) if configured correctly and using a known good GPU setup. That is not to say you have to have a top of the line gaming computer because the architecture is set up for the majority of people to be able to use Second Life. I will probably be a resident of SL until my natural death. Sidebar, SL is not a game. Its a 3D virtual Social Media platform.
amazing build, sadly the most sl users can only enjoy it on youtube. cause it takes them forever to rezz or there grafic card is dying. and we are not talking about these medieval servers made out of wood.
Yea alright you turned the mapping up to make everything look unnaturally shiny. If this was an attempt to make something look beautiful you achieved it for all the wrong reasons from a technical standpoint.
Wow, the big deal... someone has finally learned about specular textures and bump textures and has now decided to apply it everywhere.. -.- That is seriously an awful work.. Do not get me wrong, the mesh modeling is great, but the texture... not at all. Specular textures does not work like they should in a video game, black in specular texture is ridiculously shiny when it should not be. Second Life is way too old to keep this going, this will never be well detailed and realistic unless they finally decide to upgrade their Viewer.

Magnificent build, despite what some sourpuss down below says).
Magnificent
Magnificent
Little bit too heavy on the specular in certain places but looks nice.
This is almost enough to get me back into Second Life.
OK, I was sceptical, but that is pretty impressive. But my gods, it really was insanely shit before.

Siena Pashmori Thanks!
worthy of an open world Game.. such as Assassin's creed, Prince of Persia
we have the same perspective
Really cool! What kind of hardware are you running to shoot this?

Lovely passion personified!
Is this open to the public Kaya? I would love to go see it? Do you have a slurl?
amazing build, sadly the most sl users can only enjoy it on youtube. cause it takes them forever to rezz or there grafic card is dying. and we are not talking about these medieval servers made out of wood.
what viewer is that? please and thank you
Annnd people ask me why I go through my pixel life with my gfx on ultra. ;)
No difference. Just goes to show what a rediculous amount of disposable income will get you.

I love the materials that you added to the Theatre.
Your materials made me drool on my phone a little bit, just saying :p
