Ty Cobb is a disappointment.
No doubt.
Lmao he lied for years on this case
In that case, ah'm watchin the video!
Cobb lectures Sotomeyer that the Supreme Court can't make result oriented rulings? What? How is this specific to any result regarding Trump or any particular result related to him or anyone else? He wants specifics? The seal team six example was already argued in the lower level courts ad nauseum and the supreme court Maga justices ignored it. Ty Cobb has no argument to rebut why there is any judicial review possible of a president as commander in chief using the military to assasinate domestic political rivals he believes threaten US security.
And, apparently, a misogynist!
The reality is that Sotomayor has more information about the thinking of the other justices than Ty Cobb does. So I am going to take her warnings seriously.
🎯
Biden is free to use this ruling immediately too.
But he won’t because dems are cowards
lol to do what exactly?

It doesn't work that way for Democrats. They are held to higher standards
@@Jack-bk6wv - Apparently, with the full affirmation and blessing of a super majority ruling by SCOTUS, anything he damn well pleases.

@@ddcarroll3392
If that's true, then read the opinion and notice it doesn't do any of the horribles SotoMayor claims it does. The courts will decide whether the act(s) is official before another opposition candidate is put through the ringer by a future administration. That's all it does.
He was disappointed by Sotomayor, but not enraged with the right-wing Supreme Court's decision? You're kidding?
Her argument - whether you agree with it or not - was hysterical rather than logical.
Or else it was intended as a wink-wink to Joe that "hey! a President can in his official actions meet with the CIA and order a hit on a political opponent! Even perhaps an orange political opponent...and just take him out in order to protect Democracy...and the President would be totally immune.. immune, immune, immune."
But Joe is too sleepy to meet with the CIA...other than to briefly regale them with stories of how he finished at the top of his law class...
@@UnstuckMind so then you are OK to charge Obama with murder of American citizens???
All said and done, he was a Trump lawyer. What do you expect?

Hysterical? No analysis? There’s no analysis needed for the absurd majority decision! Sotomayor stated her dissent loud and clear. These people with their racist and sexist bias kills me. Cobb has no idea of his implicit bias with regard to Justice Sotomayor. Thank you Professor Tribe!

Thomas Paine:
"For as in absolute governments the King is law, so in free countries the law ought to be King; and there ought to be no other."

King George has less power than the presidency. He was subject to the law. This was based on Magna Carta in 1215 and confirmed in the trial and execution of King Charles the first in 1649. The president now has the power of Louis the 14th and 16th of France who were absolute monarchs. Also Tsar Nicolas of Russia.

The separation of powers is exactly what she was addressing. This decision does not really do anything to the idea that there are different situations where a president can claim immunity (i.e. official acts vs unofficial acts) but what it does is create a situation where the "official acts" are greatly expanded, by injecting ambiguity and not allowing evidence or motivation when determining what was an official act vs an unofficial act.

Dear World Leaders and Government Officials,
I'm writing this letter to address a matter of grave global concern from a humanitarian perspective. The ongoing actions of governments and militaries worldwide have reached a point that can only be described as an alarming crisis of conscience and ethics.
It is deeply troubling to witness the continued engagement in activities that contribute to global destruction, seemingly without regard for the devastating consequences on humanity and our planet. From an objective standpoint, these actions represent a horrific abomination that defies basic human decency and moral reasoning.
Consider for a moment how we would react if we saw children behaving in ways analogous to current global military and governmental conduct. Would we not be appalled? Would we not intervene immediately, perhaps even seeking professional help or legal intervention to correct such disturbing behavior? The fact that these actions are instead being perpetrated by adults in positions of power is even more unconscionable.
It is a damning indictment of our collective moral compass that those entrusted with leadership roles can engage in such destructive behaviors without apparent spiritual or ethical qualms. The disconnect between the responsibility to protect and nurture citizens and the actual conduct we're witnessing is staggering.
I implore you, as stewards of your nations and representatives of your people, to cease these detrimental activities immediately. It is time to reconnect with our shared humanity, to act with wisdom and compassion, and to prioritize the well-being of all global citizens and our planet.
The world is watching and waiting for a return to reason, empathy, and responsible governance. The time for positive change is now. Let us work together to create a future we can be proud to pass on to the next generations.
Sincerely, Steven Dobrovolskis

3. Separation of Church and State
4. Term Limits for Presidents*
Why not for Congress? They are seated as peers, while the President is placed at the head of state. The President can do anything he wants, as long as it he does not violate the law. He can even challenge the law, should he have grounds to.
Sotomayor points out that they knew how to give immunity when they wrote the Constitution because it's in there. Legislators have a narrow immunity via the Speech and Debate clause. They made no such protections for the POTUS and that wasn't an oversight. These "originalists" and "textualists" have constructed this decision without any actual basis, just the desire for a unitary executive who can use power at will and not face consequences, aside from impeachment/removal (but no criminal conviction afterward no matter what).
Ty Cobb is saying most of the right things but missing the conclusion. He said he was a little confused when the court said (1) conversations with the Attorney General and threats to fire Bill Barr in favor of Jeffrey Clarke are absolutely immune; and (2) official acts cannot be used as evidence even if integral to the story. THATS the problem (among other things(. It's not simply that the Court said there is presumptive immunity for official acts. It's that they defined official acts wildly broad (just talking to the AG, even about crimes to commit?!?!) and also destroyed a prosecutor's ability to make a case by having to exclude anything touching on this broadly defined official act of plotting crimes with the AG. Cobb really is missing the point here.
CNN is dead to America. Ty Cobb is utterly lacking.
Why is CNN dead? You are not blaming them for Biden looking old, feeble and weak during the debate?
Both men on that CNN debate stage are not fit to lead for 4 more years
