Nice job as always Ed! Really pretty wood, and very well done on the turning!
Thank you Dave! - Ed
Very nice, and well turned. The timber looks like Tasmanian Blackwood which if your not aware is in the Acacia family. Also, if it is Tassie Blackwood, and for those not aware, be sure to take precautions from the dust, as the fibre's have barbs that if inhaled can not be gotten out of the lungs, and over time will present symptoms akin to Asbestosis, due to not only the fibre's, but the apparently can also grow mould in the lungs, which as one would imagine, is very painful, and will eventually cause death.
Thank you! I always wear a mask when turning to prevent any issues and I run a Jet air cleaner as an added precaution. I've heard that some people do have allergic reactions to it while it's being turned, but I don't think there are any issues once it's finished. - Ed
Beautiful wood, love the shape you found. Great work. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Karl! - Ed
Welcome back! Your turnings have been missed.
The bowl is AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL. The finish sets the grain off perfect. Love the chocolate color.
It is my plan to turn a one piece walking cane of acaisa. How does the wood cut. I shall be using EWT exclusively for this turn.
Congratulations again on the turn.
Thank you John! It turns and finishes like a charm. I think you will really enjoy it. Please consider sharing the finished cane on my website. - Ed
Beautiful piece.isn t acacia a hard wood? What kind of finish?
Thx and greetings
Thank you Marino! Acacia is a very hard wood, but not too terribly difficult to turn. I used Ack's Polishing Paste. There is a link to their site in the description if you'd like to order yourself some. - Ed
Lovely piece of wood.
Thank you Doug! - Ed
