I Turned This Alien Wood into a Masterpiece

- I bought some time ago this alien wood or just should call it driftwood and it was time to wood turn it into a project. Due to its size and shape the best option was to go with a small bowl size project. Used deep pour epoxy resin with green alcohol ink what turned out like slime. To finish this piece I used epoxy coating resin for a high gloss result.

Als Holzliebhaber muss ich widersprechen. Ein Meisterstueck kann man mithilfe von Epoxidharz nicht produzieren. Nie und nimmer.

Amazingly beautiful and stunning what a showpiece!!!
That is just an OUTSTANDING peace of art! I call it art because that I what I think it is! An amazing bowl!😊
Who would ever have conceived that that grungy bit of wood could turn into that unique bowl! Fascinating!
Thank you 🙂
This finished product is absolutely beautiful. Made from virtually nothing, but with your skills & expertise, fantastic. I am in
awe of your gift for working with wood.
The resin looks like colored glass, it's so perfect. Really beautiful piece
Thank you so much 🙂
Beautiful bowl, but I think that piece of wood wasn't done justice by taking so much of it away. It was a really nice piece and very unique.
I agree; it hurt to see the piece trimmed down.
That is so beautiful. This man is so talented. One of a kind.
Thank you! Another triumph. God bless
Very beautiful. I didn't envision the end from the beginning, but you could see it obviously.
Love seeing how these works of art turn out. You are a master
Wow, one of its kind in the world.
Amazing, and yes, I like watching you do your work in real time, and still making the same length video. I'm not a wood turner, but really enjoy watching you, and the way you explain your self along the way, you are a very good teacher. I've heard that inner voice also, but kept going, and said OUCH myself!
Thank you so much 🙂 Inner voices are most often correct but i was in a rush to finish this on time. Lesson learnt.. i guess 😀
Love your bowl. It truly is a masterpiece. To answer the question you asked about the filming change you made from sped projects to edit clips of you turning your pieces in real-time: I'm partial to this new method, myself.
Having the piece come to life in front of you at regular speed (albeit in far more cut down segments) is more satisfying. Paired with the fact that you explain and narrate your method, the normal rate of speed is a better option. To the viewer, it feels more like your talking us through your methods as we are standing beside you, assistance/accompanying you as you teach.
Keep up the beautiful work!
That is absolutely beautiful! I love that shade of green with the wood!
nailed the glass top coat
Thank you 🙂
Absolutely stunning piece, great craftsmanship 👍👏🙏
Makes for a gorgeous Candy bowl.
A gorgeous little bowl... I loved the real time clips... I love the speeded up clips too... it's great that you're asking for our feedback... it really makes it feel like you're bringing us into the creative process... thank you
Thank you so much 🙂 No point for me making videos if the audience doesn’t like it. :)

Рахмат мехнатингизни томоша килдирганииз учун 👏
I never thought about where you had to look to determine smoothness. Watching, I always look where the cutting tool is, but it makes perfect sense to look at the top (or the horizon). Thanks for explaining. 😊
Yeah not many turners mention this but I am sure most do the same 😀
Uoau nu am cuvinte să vezi ce este în interiorul unei bucăți de lemn sau a orice alt ceva este un mare artist cu mare dar de la Dumnezeu
Thank you so much 🙂
In my opinion that was your most enjoyable video. Humor, no speeding up of the video, showing mistakes and teaching. Great job.
Thank you so much 🙂
Beautiful!
i really love the combination of clear resin and wood. there’s just something about it. like branches growing through stained glass window. i think it would look really cool totally clear too without the green. but i hear that is tough to make look perfect.
real time clips have my vote, i like to hear and see things the same way the artist does. love all the different angles too 👍
Thank you so much 🙂 Yes clear resin show the most imperfections so have to be careful with that. I keep telling myself to make clear project but always end up with some dye / pigments
The bowl is stunning. Wow!
Thank you so much 🙂
I love how it turned out. The finishing touch with your name plate is fantastic ☺️.
Thank you 🙂
That bowl is stunning!
As someone just about to start woodturning, I really appreciate the step by step walk through. It helps a lot!
Absolutely beautiful piece.
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely gorgeous bowl!
What a glorious piece of art. Congratulations on your wonderful talent!
Commentary about what is happening right in front, explanations and thought process and very clever angles. Love it, thanks.
Thank you so much 🙂 Really appreciate your feedback!
This is very beautiful. Love the resin colour, goes very well with the wood.
Thank you so much 🙂
That’ gorgeous.
It’s already a masterpiece, but you made it even better
Turned out absolutely gorgeous💕
... Very soothing to the eye!....
This is so gorgeous!!! I love green also.
That was wonderful to watch, the green colour you choose is my absolute favourite.😘😘 beautiful really beautiful.😘😘
Thank you so much 🙂
Another brilliant artist creating a true work of art from a piece of wood.
Thank you so much 🙂
it is really lovely that you show those bits in real time. most people don't realize that that's how this kind of work "feels" when making a mess, so to speak. Also, an inside joke: "TALLARINES, PÁ!!!!"
Aren't you the artist who made a trashcan out of Prince Harry's book? THAT was BRILLIANT!!!
Absolutely beautiful. I love the shade of green.
I’m not a wood guy but I couldn’t stop watching! That’s was simple awesome.
BEAUTIFUL!
Are you sure that isn't an overcooked chicken? I'll watch your video and find out.
kind of :)
It's a Peking duck...100%
Same thought.
LOL
Ha ha ha 😂
Wow.. too beautiful
Awesome video David! Your personality is really starting to show. I like that you are comfortable to share your way of woodturning that may not be mainstream. The green... magnificent!
Thank you so much Kate 🙂 i am glad my building confidence is noticeable in the video. I feel the same so step by step 😀
Beautiful finished piece! As someone who has never done any kind of woodworking, I immensely enjoyed your real time video. I also found your narrated video much more interesting than other non-narrated ones I've seen on RUclips. Keep that wonderful art coming!
Awesome, thank you!
Everything about this piece is superb. Even the mistake makes the video that bit more exciting. Super job cracking result. I never thought that green would work and it turned out perfectly. Visionary.
Thank you so much 🙂
I love driftwood. Another wonderful use for it!
Abençoado seja essas mãos, fico encantada com pessoas que transforma um fio numa blusa ,uma natureza morta numa arte tao linda.
That does look very nice to be fair. Green is a good colour choice for this.
Thank you so much 🙂
Just did my first wood turning class yesterday I hope I can get half of your skills in the future, you're inspirational bro!
Thank you so much 🙂 Happy turning!

Fantastic! Makes me wanna hug someone's face...
Thank you so much 🙂
Hi! I like zoning out watching Turning videos and you were the First one to ever mention where they look at the piece, when turning. Thank you for mentioning something that could be considered Basic, but is actually a great piece of advice!
Yes that good practice is definitely being picked up as you get going with turning. I haven’t seen this being mentioned by other turners but for sure we all do as you have a better view on how the shape is coming along (at least for me for sure)
Beautiful
Good save. Pretty piece. I love green 🐸
Very fantastic looking piece of art work. Well done. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍🏼
I'm impressed with the final result
One of the prettiest pieces I have seen from anyone.
Thank you so much 🙂

Beautiful. Loved it and wish it was mine.
Oh my heart stopped when the cutter went into the resin, great save! Phew what an amazing bowl, stunning colour, great use for a piece of driftwood, the whole thing looks so beautiful - excellent work again 👍👀🥇🤩
Thank you so much 🙂 Mine to honestly… looking at back on the footage i really struggle to understand why i did that as there was so many signs it is not going well (the drilling) But I really wanted to finish the piece that day so i can move onto editing 😅
That is a thing of beauty.
Beautiful elegant finish
