    The absolute best bed mat that I have been buying for years is at Tractor Supply. It’s a 2/4” mat for a horse trailer. You can’t wear them out and they are inexpensive. The one I have now is about 10 years old and is still in excellent condition.

    My question is, do you really need a bed mat that robust? I can see it for a a truck that’s used commercially with lots of heavy stuff loaded and unloaded daily. I have a Toyota bed mat in my Tacoma which isn’t all that heavy. It’s probably similar to a weather tech mat. I have no problem removing it myself. I really don’t like the seam in that mat. For its purpose it’s great but for the average person who uses their truck recreationally it’s probably a bit overkill.

    Great information, redundancy is important in my mind always good to over engineer. Having worked most of my career as a forestry contractor it was always important to me that my trucks were kept in the best possible condition. I first used plastic box liners then sprayed in liners then with plywood on the floor. Wish I had know such a durable product was available.

      With only spray in bed-liner you will still dent the truck bed floor, my truck came with spray in bedliner but i got the mat anyways. 🤓

    Really nice mat! But for my needs & my ‘05 F350 can only get a universal shape mat, I’m going with the TSC horse stall mat for about $60 vs $227. And I already have a bedliner installed as well.
    Thanks JD!

    I actually do have a horse stall mat in the back of the truck. Picked up at Tractor Supply. Heavy o ya. It doesn’t cover 100% of the bed but it fits directly between the wheel wells toward the cab. My 2016 f150 has a payload of 1850. I love it but it’s a hassle to get in and out to clean the bed. It’s worth the investment for the trips to the dump. Keeping the truck bed dent free.

    If you were to lay the mats out in the sun( upside down), they would flatten out.

    I’ve considered one of these mats. I wouldn’t do it sans spray-in liner but I’ll want to see how you like it long term. I worry about water and mold under it.

    Unrelated but according to GM this engine is using 1qt of oil every 2000 miles. You are probably due for 1qt soon...

    My initial thought on the mat is that while it seems to be super impressive as far as quality, that seam would be a disqualifying issue for me. I would get so frustrated getting boxes or other items stuck on it when you were trying to slide them into the bed. Again, just my initial thought. It may be totally unfounded.

    I love the durability test. But I think that it being a chevy has alot to do with it doing so well. I challenge you to take that bed liner and set it in the back of your f450 and do the same thing. I know it won't fit but it will give you enough space to throw your hitch at it. I just feel that you can't completely grade a product without doing significant testing.

    From your previous videos...in California, where I live, you must have a Commercial Driver's License with a "Doubles/Triples " endorsement to legally tow two trailers. I have a small fishing boat, and a small tilt bed trailer that I call "the quad trailer". I welded a piece of 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 angle to the back of the quad trailer, and installed a 1 7/8 ball. Then I can load the quad on the trailer, hook the boat behind it and safely and legally head out for my favorite fishing lake and campground. Camping gear goes in the back of my F450. Have to be careful about making sure I have enough tounge weight on the back of the quad trailer, or it wiggles on the road. Could do the same thing with a fifthwheel and the boat...safely and legally.

    1442 lbs payload in a 1/2 ton is laughable. My 06 Dakota had a 1610 lbs payload and my Ram 1500 Classic is at around 1800 lbs. I understand why people get the crew cab short beds as family haulers/ luxury cruisers, but that configuration defeats the purpose of a truck for hauling & towing.

    I think you mean 2023 Gmc Denali. BTW I for fun built a fully loaded Gm Hd truck in Canada. Came to about 111,000 dollars. That's before tax. Absolutely insane. Who's buying these trucks. Even if I had the money. I 100% wouldn't buy one. Just out of principle. LASTLY I don't see the benefit to a bed mat in that truck with a bed liner. That's just me.

  • @yo9758
    @yo9758 Год назад +1

    Just want to get this of my chest but I think the point of protecting a truck bed with liner and mats is a-little silly I get the bed rug because it’s bigger selling point is it keeps stuff from sliding around so you don’t have to climb into you truck to grab something but there’s very few people in the second hand truck market you give value to bed liners and mats but whatever floats your boat i guess just sounds like your trying to sell something to me and that you don’t need and sometimes mat and liner do more damage by trapping moisture and rotting out the bed with is worse then a scratches and dents
