Your summarization of My Dark Vanessa LITERALLY gave me goosebumps. It's been on my shelf for a couple of months but I think I need to pick it up next.
15:30 hi Katie!! Just a note, Confessions is a Japanese book ☺️ Love all your videos! And I’m writing down the books I haven’t read to add to my TBR 📚 💙💙💙
Katie, I read Notes on an Execution because of you, and it ended up my favorite book of the year. It’s so amazing. Thank you for making me want to read it!
Im so glad my dark vanessa is on this list! It was my fav book of 2022. It had me thinking of it EVEN NOW! It made me feel emotions I havent felt in so long.. truly a beautiful book
Watching this 6 months later & realizing there were so many bangers last year!! This year it’s all 3-4 stars 🥱 not a single 5 star in sight! I might have to reread some 2022 faves. I need some joy in my life lol
Tender is the Flesh was my number 1 for the year, but that was a given. And even though you hated it during the reread, I'm glad you raved about All of Us Villains the first time, because I wouldn't have read it otherwise and I ended up absolutely loving it.
Katie, I just love your content. I’m new to your channel, but whenever I need to have a laugh or just need to have a good little time doing nothing, I come here.
I swear to god, you are the extroverted version of me. Anytime you put out a favorites list I come away with way too many books on my library pickup list 😂
Notes on an Execution was also my favorite. After I read it, I was like “this is going to be my favorite this year for sure.” And feeling has not left since I read it the week it came out.
💙 Congratulations on the best video I've seen yet from people talking about there best books. So many just do the battle of the books but I so enjoyed all your explanations on why these books made your list. I learned about a new one to put on my to read list and was able to confirm some that should keep on my to read list. Thank you. 📚
6:34 I don’t read horror and I don’t know why I picked it up, but I’m sooo glad I did!! I’ve never even seen Carrie, but I know the general idea of it and I feel like this was done very well. I love the semi-true crime type look at it with the journalists in the alternating chapters/intros. I think that approach is what kept me hooked versus other horror books. I have emotions and questions!!! I need a sequel! Is there a Carrie sequel? The way she ended it, makes me need a sequel. Kenny?! Hello?!? It’s so well done! It’s one of my favorites too and it’s completely out my comfort zone. Also the audiobook had one guy who legit sounded like combination of Tone Loc( sang the song Wild Thing from the 90s.) and a raspy Coolio and I was living for it! Lol.
I’ve never been a big fan of books written in second person, but Notes on an Execution, The Push, and A Dowry of Blood are all ones you loved that are written in second person and now I feel like I need to try it again!
Thank you for the ace recommendation 💙 I hardly ever see anyone talk about books with ace or aro characters and I am so glad you do, bc honestly your videos about Loveless is my reason for finaly picking it up
Love your love for Thursday Murder Club because I have that same obsession with the characters. I love them so much and just want to be adopted as a grandchild to all of them! Adding a few of your favorites to my TBR!
💙. Tender is the Flesh was one of my top 3 books of 2021. I Loved it!!! My second favorite was Meat by Joseph D'Lacey. You have to read it if you loved Tender is the Flesh. It's in the same genre, so to speak, and blew my mind! I think you would love it!! I had audiobooks for both, but want a hard copy of both. I love your channel so much and you helped get me back into reading. You rock! Hope you have a fantastic 2023!
Notes On An Execution is my favorite book of the year, too! I read it in July and have thought about it every single day since. Absolutely stunning. And you’ve convinced me to start the Thursday Murder Club series.
Your number one is my number one this year. That book hands down was the most amazing thing I’ve ever read. It gave me a book hangover that lasted 2 weeks. It was everything 💙
@@KatieColson oh yes lol between you and gabby i had to pick this book up and I’m so glad i did. Confessions is on my wishlist and I’ll be buying it soon
Love this round up! I appreciate, that you insert quotes and get excited about every book and explain why and keep up the energy throughout the video without spoilering :D! Put a few more books on my list. Bcs I only read spy family out of your list and I'm hoooked.
The realness is actually why I ended up having to DNF. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the writing and everything really, just hit so damn close to home. So glad there's a lot of people who love it
💙💙 LOVE these end of year videos! I can't handle too much horror but I still watch all your videos because A) love a chaotic queen and B) the mystery/thriller recs are always ON POINT. Btw, finished Nettle and Bone and LOVED IT. I have the first 5 in the Veronica Speedwell series and the Thursday Murder Club series is on it's way to me and I. CAN'T. WAIT. You are the best, thank you for putting so much time and love into your videos!!
I loved The Last House on Needless Street. It's an amazing book, as is Sundial (by the same author). I'm definitely looking up The Weight of Blood. Also love Richard Osman. Only read the first so far, but plan to read the rest this year. I enjoyed Notes on an Execution a lot. It's one of the best literary/genre books I've read. The three main female characters are brilliantly written.
I recently found ur channel and I'm obsessed.😩 ur energy is everything, plus the fact that i have finally found someone with MY taste. this video is just me writing this all down as if u were giving me personal recommendations.💙
YASSSSS Notes on an Execution is the best and I'm so glad I read it because of you!!!! Aslo there are so many great books on this list! I also love Confessions, Sleeping Giants, Romantic Agenda, and Tender is the Flesh!
The Romantic Agenda now climbed its way to the top of my TBR. I am aromantic but not asexual, kind of different from the plot but somewhat comforting to know its similar to my case. Ty for the reco
I loved The Last House on Needless Street !! This book is something else ! It opened another level for me ! And it has a beautiful and important message at the end…love it !!!
💙💙💙 I got a curious beginning for Christmas thanks to you !! I read few of them thanks to you and have the other on a wishlist ! Thank you for this year of amazing content 💙 Thank you for brightening my day every Time 💙
I have read and loved several books on your list. I loved Slewfoot, Confession, and Notes on an Execution. I loved Notes on an Execution. It was so tragic. Knowing the serial killers history didn't absolve him of his crimes but did make me think for a long time after I finished reading it. Which for me is what a good book does.
loveeeeeed this!!! my best book of 2022 (and quite possibly for all time) is Lie With Me by Philippe Besson - pure brilliance, 148 pages of immense meaning and just incredible
Have you read Lets Talk About Love by Claire Kann? That’s also a book with an asexual MC. I wouldn’t say that type of contemporary is my favorite and even so I still really enjoyed that book and felt I learned so much about asexuality that I hadn’t known before. If you haven’t read it you may like that one too!
I need a list of all of Katie's best audiobook recommendations! I know she has so many throughout her videos, but I need them in one place!

I read the first 4 books in the Veronica Speedwell series this because of you and I have never been more glad of a decision that I've made. I think I'll need to pick up the Thursday Murder Club series next!
You are a crazy, silly, fun and very intriguing person! So there are a few on here that I had on my “not to read” list, but something about your intensity with recommending these books made me decide to give them a try. I now have a tag in my online catalog of TBR with your name on it so that I give them a try and remember who “TOLD” me to read them. ❤😊😅
LOVE Notes on an Execution - also read it this year. My Dark Vanessa I read last year...but it's still in my thoughts. And House on Needless Street = excellent :)
💙 The best book I read in 2022 was hands down You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson, which was her debut novel. Spectacular queer and disabled representation, sells the concept of a prom-obsessed town flawlessly, and I loved every character
The leggings in the last house on needless street!!! After I finished I just broke down the scene with my husband (because this book was one I had to just update him on periodically and confuse him) 😂
Notes on an execution is on the top of my tbr for next year. I just want to wait for a point in time where I'm in the mindset to truly appreciate it💙💙💙
I have the Romantic Agenda. I have to read it after your review. I think the author also wrote Lets Talk about Love which also have an asexual character.
I loved the last house on needless street. I listened to it and the performance was perfect! And yes..the LEGGINGS! Also, i read my dark Vanessa in 2021 and there is a now a me before reading it and a me after reading it. I am a Vanessa but i didn't fully acknowledged it before i read this book 🤯
My library FINALLY got Spy Family in at the start of 2023. I BINGED Vol 1-5 in a day! Waiting (impatiently) on Vol. 6-8 now. My 11 year old now INSISTS I watch the anime 🤣
Haha, Just the beginning of this video had me cracking up. I bought All of us Villans due to your recommendation in 2021 🤣 . But never mind, it was pretty okay read to me 🤣. There were other recommendations that were terrible. Like I honestly tortured myself by reading Under the Whispering Door ..so boring.
I read 87 books and disappointed I didn’t hit 100. Notes on an execution was my favorite. Cilka’s Journey, seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and The gift: 12 lessons to save your life, Ashley’s War, Book Lovers and The Tennis Partner were my top picks.
I hear everyone saying that Notes on an Execution will make you think. What I don't understand is this: It doesn't matter what your thoughts are on if the death penalty is just or not. If you're caught 🤷♀️ Oh well, stand by your conviction if it's that strong.
My Dark Vanessa truly was an immaculately written book! It's one of my top books of the year as well (even if it did ruin my s*x life for a month because I couldn't stop thinking about the book) 💙 You're like the fifth person I've seen put Notes on an Execution in their top books of the year ... might have to pick it up!

15:30 hi Katie!! Just a note, Confessions is a Japanese book ☺️
Love all your videos! And I’m writing down the books I haven’t read to add to my TBR 📚
💙💙💙
It's Japanese and not Korean 🤦🏻♀! Ugh I can't believe I did that and didn't catch myself. I'm sorry. Thank you!
Katie, I read Notes on an Execution because of you, and it ended up my favorite book of the year. It’s so amazing. Thank you for making me want to read it!

I loved All of Us Villians (overall), but hated the sequel. I was so sad!
Katie, I just love your content. I’m new to your channel, but whenever I need to have a laugh or just need to have a good little time doing nothing, I come here.
The way you talk about books makes every single one sound like a 12/10! Literally going to the bookstore tomorrow now..
Thanks for adding to my TBR for the new year! My Dark Vanessa was the most memorable book of the year for me….amazing in every way!👍🏼❤️
“Leave enough room for God” that’s the first time I’ve heard that haha! I love it. 😂
Katie, You need to read Our wives under the sea, it checks all your boxes! It's my favorite of this year 😍

My Dark Vanessa is 5/5 for me too. One of the best and most important books I've ever read. I think more people should read it.
I’ve only read Notes on an Execution on this list and halfway through Confessions. Can’t wait to see what happens! Crazy for sure!

I just finished My Dark Vanessa today because of your recommendation. I really liked it. Dark and disturbing but beautiful writing.
Your number one is my number one this year. That book hands down was the most amazing thing I’ve ever read. It gave me a book hangover that lasted 2 weeks. It was everything 💙

Love the idea of platonic soul mates! Not sure why this idea isn't more widespread.
My dark Vanessa truly had my heart this year.
It felt so...real.
Like I just wanted to hug Vanessa and tell her everything is so okay.
The realness is actually why I ended up having to DNF. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the writing and everything really, just hit so damn close to home. So glad there's a lot of people who love it

I read My Dark Vanessa back in 2020 and it STILL HAUNTS ME. Absolutely masterful book
Such a GREAT representation of grooming
YASSSSS Notes on an Execution is the best and I'm so glad I read it because of you!!!! Aslo there are so many great books on this list! I also love Confessions, Sleeping Giants, Romantic Agenda, and Tender is the Flesh!

Liked solely for the “baby come back” comment 😂
Hearing you say your fav Richard Osman book was the second one really makes me want to continue the series even tho I didn't love the first book
I loved The Last House on Needless Street !! This book is something else ! It opened another level for me ! And it has a beautiful and important message at the end…love it !!!

I have the Romantic Agenda. I have to read it after your review. I think the author also wrote Lets Talk about Love which also have an asexual character.
I didn’t realize it was the same author! I must read that book in 2023. Thanks for letting me know

💙💙💙 definitely need to add some of these to my TBR!!!
Katie reads the quote from The Romantic Agenda
Me: I am literally crying😭😭😭
Aw Alyssa. Saaaaamr
Finally someone else who loves Tender is the Flesh as much as me 😭❤️
I read 87 books and disappointed I didn’t hit 100. Notes on an execution was my favorite. Cilka’s Journey, seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and The gift: 12 lessons to save your life, Ashley’s War, Book Lovers and The Tennis Partner were my top picks.
My favorite book this year was the very first one I read (out of 70) and that is A Dowry of Blood by ST Gibson.
I hear everyone saying that Notes on an Execution will make you think. What I don't understand is this: It doesn't matter what your thoughts are on if the death penalty is just or not. The system as it is sentences innocent people to death. Point blank period. There is zero discussion to be had on that. For those who, despite that fact, think we should still have the death penalty, ok. You do it, then. Sacrifice your own life to hunt down the people you think deserve death and do it yourself. Hey Katie !! Long time ! Missed you
I absolutely loved Confessions & Tender is the Flesh💙💙
So many great recommendations... thanx!💙💙

What lipstick are you wearing in this video?
Love the vibes always 💙💙
💙 I might have to go order Notes On An Execution now …
Ngl I’m patting myself on the back that TWO of my recs made the top10 😏😏😏😏
If I’d asked for 10 book recs in 2022, then they all would’ve been on this list, haha
