It's a great option, I had one for 3 months, Corona edition from 2000, they are not restricted in the engine but are 25 kw in motorcycle papers, I rode with insurance, it was actually less expensive than my old zzr 250. It curves beautiful, A2 guys will think it's more than enough power. It's virtually dead on low revs, you can drive it slow but it always ask for to kick in that ram air. Brakes need good cleaning and maintenance Unfortunately I crashed and totaled the bike, a cager didn't stop at a stop sign ...
Yeap thats exactly what i thought although they would refuse but then on the flip side they have your money and in the event of a claim they get off scott free
this is down the mannorway right? I'm sure I see you guys down there and pulled over in my car to say nice bike aha, just passed my a2 can't wait to be back on 2 wheels
That SRAD obviously has more than the 47bhp you're allowed on the A2 licence. The guy who owns it is basically riding it without a licence or insurance, so if he ever had an accident, he would be in a world of hurt...
having said that, if you have an accident, you can say to your insurance company that you want to assess the damage first, and then slip the restrictor back in.
Inked Aggression yep, always good to have a familly member with a ford ranger ;) And to be fair not many people actually ride fast enough to get into a proper (unconscious accident) unless they are with other riders that can call familly in the event anything happened. I only get my knee down when im with my mate
+UKGB indeed and thats true until you move upto a big bike and get over confident i dragged one of my mates r6's out a bush yesterday hes a fantastic rider and has loads of track experience he knew the road well but clearly over shot it slightly, fully conscious and no injuries he probably scrubbed the majority of the speed off but it happens to the best of us
So if you have a completely unrestricted license and can drive whatever; like a 1600 softtail Heritage. Are the 600SRAD good bikes? I like racing bikes but I also love Harley Davidson (but they are unfortunately too expensive for me at this moment). RAM air? Isn't that a 60's muscle car thing that isn't that much more "acutal" anymore?
MrValiante84 thats correct, srads are good bikes but if you had a unrestricted license there are far better 600's out there, thats the trouble with Harley you pay alot of money for the badge
At the crank, over 94bhp. Because "marketing", Suzuki at the time therefore claimed the bike had 105-110bhp. If one where to dyno the bike, you'd probably get 90/94bhp at the rear. DVLA doesn't specify if A2 criteria refers to power at the crank or rear. However, they do reference "peak" power, what this means is open for legal speculation, but the cavemen at the DVLA would probably claim it means at the crank out of the factory. Then you have to find 47bhp restrictors for it (that don't exist), or invent your own (or use a 33bhp era one). It's a grey area legal minefield, easier to buy a detuned 600 (bandit etc)/650 and restrict how you see fit.
Hiya mate I'm thinking of getting one of these once I've done my full....A, bike licence whats the seat height and how tall are you if you don't mind me asking I only ask because I've still yet to sit on one myself and I'm 5ft 7in tall with 31 inseam leg and want to know if I'd be OK to ride this and put my foot on the ground when at a stop sign ect, I'm from Derby east Midlands UK mare and those bikes are just so nice to look at I think maybe the best ever bike in my mind anyway absolutely love them and I mean the srad version not the Ks version nor the latest if I get one I want the srad only 1998-2000 model. All the best and ride safe don't ride to die but always dress for the slide y friend.
bailey 686 that website doesn’t have half the bikes your actually allowed to ride. This bikes a grey area because Suzuki Claimed 100bhp but MCN put one on a Dyno and it make 92bhp. So it’s A2 legal in the sense it makes 92bhp these days but it’s not A2 legal because when it was made it had over 94bhp. I think if you can prove that it makes less than 94bhp then you can ride it but I’m not 100% sure
Considering getting a gsxr600 srad for an a2 bike myself, i know factory it makes too much bhp, but if you put it on a dyno youll probably find they make about 94 these days. Anyway, im thinking about insuring one third party fire and theft, so if i do get caught out on my insurance without the restrictor, its not too much of a loss. Did you have any problem insuring yours? Did they ask any questions on what bhp the bike was?
UKGB i havent got one its my friends, and although i agree the law and insurance companies go by factory specifications pre warning if you do get caught they can take your licences and you would have to wait until you are 24 for a full a license
UKGB its just abit of food for thought people are too fixated on getting the most "bhp" when you can get something more thrilling and enjoyable with less hp
It's pointless getting this on an a2 license, just ride an unrestricted a2 bike until you take your full test after 2 years, not worth the hassle of no insurance and losing your license if you get caught. Gives you a better reason to get your full license and motivation anyway
bananamanstrikesback XD will do my best bud but i am not a huge fan of twins, rode a old honda sp1 and a aprillia futura 1000 didnt find either of them overly fun
Nice shifting then. You know your bikes. I got my Direct Access done last year and wanted an SRAD600 for this year. I prefer the SRAD over the K1. Always thought it had a really nice retro racing bike shape.
+Inked Aggression I'm 20 using gocompare and only quote I'm getting is 8k lol, I'm sure I got a half decent quote few months ago, cheers I'll try carole nash
This bike causes so many problems in the realm of law... For those that don't know and want to know: -Any GSXR 600 SRAD made from 1998 on wards are not able to be restricted to 47bhp as they make 100bhp+ -Up to 1997 they made about 93bhp. The law requires that the bike has its BHP output restricted to 47bhp, providing the *original* output is not more than 94bhp. Example: I ride a 2003 GSX600F with the original output being about 80bhp. I have had it restricted to 47bhp. On the other hand I would not be able to ride a Yamaha R6 as they make around 130bhp. Besides, why would you want a restricted SRAD? There are plenty of reviews complaining a restricted SRAD runs like dog shit. It aint worth lying to your insurers. All it takes is one Copper who knows his bikes to stop you and that's it, you lose your bike and your license. And we all know insurers are slimy bastards, they will try at anything to avoid paying out to you if you ever make a claim. All it takes is one worker to look at your quote and figure out ''Huh, you said you have an A2 license, but I know the 2000 SRAD makes 100+bhp''.
stewie 46 true but they can seize your bike and then test it and take your license give you a fat ban and stop you from getting your full license at 21 all for a srad 600 its not worth it
+Inked Aggression asif you replied haha😂 feel special as fuck😂 i had a aprilia shiver 750 that was restricted but felt slow as hell, its not suppost to restrict acceleration just top end
+Reece Cosgrove i always do my best to reply, yeah you notice with carburettor restrictors it does exactly that..You seem to loose puff at abut 100 where as the throttle restrictors only allow you to go to about 20% throttle which id assume is reducing acceleration
I'm thiking of getting a CB600f Hornet (u can get 1998-2002 to a2) now that the finnish motorbike tax got canceled. they originally planned to tax even 125's. bastards.
Yeah. Had my eyes on a real beauty last year. tank cover and plastics water dipped (blue with playing cards, bikini girls and what not), new digital meter, undertail exhaust, (insert bunch of other mods) and a mask with blinkers integrated into the eyes. some 30-40k km and only for 4,5k. too bad it got sold before i could get rid of the old girl. Would've had to raise 3,5k more anyway lol.
thanks mate! eagerly waiting for the season to start.. and the poor old cbr to start as well. She doesn't like cold so i have to jump her from the old man's king cab, lol. Safe miles.
so i just stumbled across this video, i own a 600 SRAD on my A2, having it restricted, makes it sluggish, it wont rev like it should, and you cant rev it past about 10k, at 10k it just stops. no more power pure flat spot. also when it comes to the law, they are no longer compliant with the new restricted laws, the only restriction kit available is a 33 bhp restriction, the new laws say that you can no longer restrict a bike too more than half its original power, if a 47bhp or 35kw was available then it would be ok, but they do not exist unfortunately
Daniel Smith yes they also seem to really loose puff at about 100 mph and yeah thats what i keep telling people but nobody listens haha worst thing is they make 47bhp restrictors for cbr600f4i's which are over 100hp out the box its silly but the main problem is most people dont understand the way it works
Daniel who did you have insurance with at the time, I have just bought a SRAD and want to know right or wrong I don’t mind whether it’s possible to get insurance and if so what sort of papers can you provide saying it’s restricted cause obviously there isn’t a restrictor kit for 47bhp
It's a great option, I had one for 3 months, Corona edition from 2000, they are not restricted in the engine but are 25 kw in motorcycle papers, I rode with insurance, it was actually less expensive than my old zzr 250.

Brakes need good cleaning and maintenance
Unfortunately I crashed and totaled the bike, a cager didn't stop at a stop sign ...
Legally you can't restrict the SRAD for the A2 because of the power:weight ratio. You can get it insured but they won't pay out in event of a claim.
Yeap thats exactly what i thought although they would refuse but then on the flip side they have your money and in the event of a claim they get off scott free
how much you pay for the bike egg roll?
Egg roll? Strange kid.
Sleepy Smurf im not even going to ask haha
so is possible to get this bike insured on a A2 then ?
I'd check out the Suzuki GSX650F. hands down, the best sounding A2 supersport!
Yea ive seen a couple just abit to relaxed positioning wise for my liking
Gsxr 400 90' onwards just is a great a2 sports
i saw a yellow mustang on the 1st of june and it got registered on that day too, really cool to see
Such beautiful cars, unfortunately they don't compare to the vintage ones but they are still beautiful
Bandit (GSF) 600 or an SV650 are probs the best bikes to get and take well to restriction :P
I love that sound...
Best sound in the world!!
love the old srad had 3 and a superb machine.
they are excellent especially considering their age
this is down the mannorway right? I'm sure I see you guys down there and pulled over in my car to say nice bike aha, just passed my a2 can't wait to be back on 2 wheels
It is im always down there hahah
That SRAD obviously has more than the 47bhp you're allowed on the A2 licence.
The guy who owns it is basically riding it without a licence or insurance, so if he ever had an accident, he would be in a world of hurt...
Indeed but thats the risk many people take when removing their restrictors
having said that, if you have an accident, you can say to your insurance company that you want to assess the damage first, and then slip the restrictor back in.
+UKGB indeed thats what everyone tends to do it only becomes a problem if you end up unconscious and your bike is recovered
Inked Aggression yep, always good to have a familly member with a ford ranger ;) And to be fair not many people actually ride fast enough to get into a proper (unconscious accident) unless they are with other riders that can call familly in the event anything happened. I only get my knee down when im with my mate

Yamaha fazer 600 is also just on the limit, on par with the srad if it is restrictable
So if you have a completely unrestricted license and can drive whatever; like a 1600 softtail Heritage. Are the 600SRAD good bikes? I like racing bikes but I also love Harley Davidson (but they are unfortunately too expensive for me at this moment). RAM air? MrValiante84 thats correct, srads are good bikes but if you had a unrestricted license there are far better 600's out there, thats the trouble with Harley you pay alot of money for the badge
Ram air is very common on modern supersports but only kicks in at higher speeds
So at 19 you can ride one of these in the uk with a restrictor kit
Ben Beresford its abit of a grey area with the srads but with the a2 license t allows you to get insured on them which is enough for most haha
Is this do able on the new a2 licence of 47bhp or no more than 94? What bhp is the srad?
At the crank, over 94bhp. Because "marketing", Suzuki at the time therefore claimed the bike had 105-110bhp. If one where to dyno the bike, you'd probably get 90/94bhp at the rear. I had a look at what bikes you’re allowed to get and restrict and I didn’t see the SRAD on there?

UKGB its just abit of food for thought people are too fixated on getting the most "bhp" when you can get something more thrilling and enjoyable with less hp
Inked Aggression im just hoping i do the a2 license before they change the laws and make it even harder
UKGB yea i dont blame you although i doubt itll be changing for a fair few years
Hi is it possible to replace the rear seat cowl with a passenger seat? I know some 750s have a seat but as I have a 1997 600 I am unsure..Thanks
Tele Player yes it is :)
Inked Aggression Thanks for replying.. Is it just a bolt on job or is there modification involved?
Tele Player pretty sure it just swaps over as if you was to take the rear seat off to put something in the boot
Inked Aggression cheers bro
just bought one :)

didnt even know this was you James it's Owen Easter. btw srad is amazing
Saaapp dude yea i saw you go past at a set of lights near seafront with your gf on the back, your cam chain sounds like its talking again :O
+Inked Aggression it's a bit loose but nothing to worry about I got a manual one now
Try and get you're hands on a tl1000r plz!
bananamanstrikesback XD will do my best bud but i am not a huge fan of twins, rode a old honda sp1 and a aprillia futura 1000 didnt find either of them overly fun
are you clutchless upshifting on that bike?
Sleeper Cell nah bud gsxrs cant take that kind of abuse ;)
Nice shifting then. You know your bikes. I got my Direct Access done last year and wanted an SRAD600 for this year. I prefer the SRAD over the K1. Always thought it had a really nice retro racing bike shape.
it will bring out your inner devil before you know it !
do you know what insurance company he uses?
Kieran Regan think he was with mce or Karol nash tbh most places will insure you
+Inked Aggression I'm 20 using gocompare and only quote I'm getting is 8k lol, I'm sure I got a half decent quote few months ago, cheers I'll try carole nash
Kieran Regan go on "the bike insurer mate"
+Inked Aggression nice one got it down to 2k
Kieran Regan im 19 and all i can find is 8k quotes, any help?

Yeah but a copper cant dyno test a bike by the roadside
stewie 46 true but they can seize your bike and then test it and take your license give you a fat ban and stop you from getting your full license at 21 all for a srad 600 its not worth it
my r6 wasnt restricted but i got insured
Haha awesome dude was that the old 33hp law or the new 47 hp one?

aye mate, some of the kits have been around since the old laws where you could restrict anything. you also get the 35kw restriction kit for R6's...
@@Dandadrummer5 hey do you know where I can get a restrictor kit for My 1999 Gsxr 600
Charlie Gilbert eBay. But don’t do it. 1 - it’s illegal 2 - you are technically riding without insurance
Daniel who did you have insurance with at the time, I have just bought a SRAD and want to know right or wrong I don’t mind whether it’s possible to get insurance and if so what sort of papers can you provide saying it’s restricted cause obviously there isn’t a restrictor kit for 47bhp
112 bhp !
Not in the 600
A2 my arse
Agreed, i mean of course this was never restricted in the first place
