What do you guys think? Do you think the convenience of the steel hood is worth the extra weight?

If bolt on is what you want then i wouldve looked at a carbon fiber bolt on. They form metal into the mold to make the stock hinges aand latches bolt to it. Thatd be worth it and alot better then fiberglass. But you seem more of a bada$$ when you say its a all steel truck. Anybody can get a bbc then hit 10s with 2800-3400lbs with ease. I found your channel cause i wwant to build a c10 to go deep into the 5s in the 1/8th but keep it all steel. So far i enjoy your channel. Keep the vids coming. Im a big block chevy guy tho. Or buick old pontiac small blocks.

Greg l Carbon fiber would have been nice. But I’m not aware of anyone who makes one for this model. But I could just not be looking on the right place. And a 5 second full size truck is tough, but would be awesome! I’m sure you’ve got the skills and patience to achieve it! Definitely keep me updated on that build! And I’m glad you’re enjoying my videos. I’m no expert by any means but I try to at least share my experiences to hopefully help viewers get a better idea of what to expect for their own builds. Sounds like you know your stuff, so feel free to continue to provide your insight in the comments!

@@WheelpowerTV i found mine on munssey speed. Im just getting all the parts together then having my uncle ship the 86 up. Its a florida no rust truck. But i dont want it here and not have parts to do stuff with it and it sit for weeks to months between parts purchases

I had to build a cowl hood out of necesity. I think I raised mine 3.5 inches. I cut my stock hood and added in metal sides. It's not strait, but it's an off-road truck. I'm happy with mine! Your truck is rad👍🏻

Yeah, I was excited to see that there was finally a steel option for a larger cowl hood for the '81-87 c10s, but the fact that it's actually functional is awesome!

So last night I just ordered a 4in rise steel cowl induction hood from JC Whitney for my 1988 GMC suburban V20. and I was just curious about how much would you say the steel cowl induction hood weighs?

Where did you get your hood at? I'm looking for a 4" one for my 91 gmc s15 Jimmy.

Zak Howl I got it from Carolina Classic Trucks. They are the only company that make a steel 4” cowl hood for the 1981-1987 C10 that I know of, but I’m not familiar with what they have for your Jimmy. You might check their website. I think I put it in the description of this video, but you should be able to find it on google.
