    This video is very helpful. I remember the day switching from premiere to davinci and the big mess that i did with the moving projects between these programs. Thumbs up!

    another youtuber I don't remember who but he grades sources in Resolve then exports and edits in premiere, which allows him to use all the presets in premiere. Interesting workflow.

      I'd argue thats a pretty bad workflow. It will definitely limit you in your grade if you are grading entire raw clips and not just the selection in the timeline. Or alternatively increase your time grading buy a lot.
      Especially when you start using masks and keying scenes

    I've always done the XML workflow, but I've never thought about incorporating the Project Manager part in the workflow.. That's going to save me so much trouble, thank you for pointing this that out!!!

    About technique number 1. Seems easier to me to export the EDL file and then it will automatically cut where it was cut in the timeline. Although with Premier there may be a problem with the start of the timeline where it starts at 0, but in Davinci it starts at 1 by default. But this can be corrected in the EDL file itself, using a text editor.

    • @runhaar1
      @runhaar1  9 месяцев назад +1

      Ive had issues with EDL's in the past, so personally I prefer the cut scene function. If you rather want to go the EDL route though, more power to you

    On another subject..do you have any videos on how you setup your systems/monitors for an accurate color workflow? thanks

    I watched the video you did with Luc Forsyth on How to Color Correct (for beginners) - Master the Basics video and it was fantastic. It was done in Premiere Pro and on Log footage. Which is my situation. Now, for my work applications I am in a situation where I will never be able to get access to Davinci on my work systems, nor will I ever be able to transfer my work footage in or out of those systems. I need to work a color workflow in Premiere only...do you have any other videos with a Premiere only workflow? You are the best colorist I have come across with the best common sense knowledge and approach I have seen yet...I am just frustrated I can't take any of this to Davinci. thanks for your time.

    I'm struggling with this process with a complex edit that has multiple layers. The XML back to premiere renders each layer with a black background so you can't see layers underneath. Any thoughts?

    This was very useful info. Thank you. Is it possible to export a timeline from Davinci and have it copy only the used raw files like this?

    • @runhaar1
      @runhaar1  9 месяцев назад +1

      Not that I know of and not sure why you would need it if you are already working in Davinci. You could just share the project file or work on a shared project with collaborators

    • @MatthewCarmody
      @MatthewCarmody 9 месяцев назад

      @@runhaar1 Thanks for responding. I regularly shoot sports content, but only end up using maybe 20% of 1TB total data in the final edit. So I am looking for a way to get rid of the remaining footage and storing the project for later reference without having to keep all the extra footage, or having to manually delete unused clips which is time consuming.

    • @runhaar1
      @runhaar1  9 месяцев назад +1

      Gotcha! Not sure if you can do it with Davinci. But you could export an xml, import it to premiere and follow the same steps

    • @MatthewCarmody
      @MatthewCarmody 9 месяцев назад

      @@runhaar1 That might actually work! Brilliant. I'll try that and see if it saves me time and space. Much appreciated!

      @MouraPT91 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@MatthewCarmody the best way to do that is using the Media Management in Davinci. You can archive projects with only used clips on the project or a specific timeline. Then you export a drp to open the project later.

    Why the premiere xml from davinci render is showing more than 75 gb

  • @christiansimmerl
    @christiansimmerl 3 месяца назад

    Good explanation of the Topic. But one question what if it involves PRORES-RAW Footage. Davinci can't read the the RAW-Files. So we are going normally with the PRORES444 Version. But having the original Files would be a lot better for us. How would you go over that Problem?
