He made the band "the brown dots" which was a total rip off of the ink spots and he was planning on making his own band called "the ink spots" but he was sued. - The Jealousy
    - Conflicts/Arguments
    - Apologies Afterward
    - The Breakup

    I thought it would be fun to play these on guitar but I'm just a beginner and it looks like it's simple when you just hear them play it, but when you look at the sheet music it's all sort of diminished chords and 9th and sevenths and stuff that the beginner just won't understand. If they gave birth to doo-wop and then in doo-wop they simply simplified the chord progressions because this is some serious Jazzy chords played on the guitar. Someone who knows better please help explain this in more musicologial terms.

    • @AustinCasey
      @AustinCasey  2 года назад +6

      First off, I'd recommend not following the sheet music. Since its not a transcription of this exact arrangement it will likely have lots of extra things that the guitarist here (Charlie Fuqua) isn't actually playing. When I first started out playing these tunes on Guitar I ran into the same issue you have. Incidentally, this was the very first Ink Spots tune I learned because it is the easiest of them all. Yes, there is a diminished chord, but if you can play a major chord or minor chord you can play diminished. All you have to do is Google (for instance) G#dim and there will be a diagram showing you how to play that chord. You want to find fingerings that don't contain open strings though. Once you get it under your fingers you'll have it forever. I might make videos in the future showing how to play these tunes but trust me, its not as hard as you think. I would highly recommend watching "guitaress" video tutorial of I Dont Want To Set The World On Fire as it was incredibly helpful to me and helped me figure out what was going on in this arrangement of Do I Worry. We need more people playing this music so please do us a favor and keep trying. You'll get there. (y)

      @@AustinCasey this is just a wonderfully generous and humane reply and I'm very grateful. The song I started with and I looked up was someone's rocking my Dreamboat. And I just got overwhelmed by the amount of different cords. I'll try this one or world on fire, and yes I'll keep going because it's just so fun to hear and sing into make this music. Once you start getting into the original Ink Spots, as your tremendous scholarly Embrace of them indicates, it becomes a sort of way of life and the way of training your heart to feel.
