Hyundai Sonata Dome Light Fix

- In my 2013 Hyundai Sonata, the dome light stays on even if "door" is selected. The problem is basically a factor defect where the electrical connections melt the plastic causing the switch to contact "on" even if door is selected.
Here is how to remove and fix the dome light.
Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, plastic trim puller

Perfectly clear explanation, reasons and steps to fix the Dome light on (my) 2011 Sonata! 👍👍🏆
Thank you!

PS This has been a documented common Hyundai manufacturing defect/issue!!
Happy to help!
Great video, just happened to mine so I want to look in it to see if it is the same issue. It was hot the day it happened.
Edit: I had the same issue with my tail light and replaced the whole harness. They had it on amazon for like $40.
With the way the dome light is made, failure is nearly inevitable. Good luck on the repair, may not plastic clips break!
I've done the taillight harness replacement as well!
I cannot screw mine back. Screw roll freely like there is nothing behind them. I also was unable to take it down - couldn’t find all the clips. Any idea on screws?
Don't recall how the screws attach, I'd assume a nut welded to structure. I don't think it was a speed clip. Possible it's a welded nut and it broke, but seems unlikely both nuts would break. For getting it down, need to depress clips around the perimeter and pull the whole thing towards the windshield.
I'll try to take a look at mine.
@@WithWardWorks I got some photos of it on a dedicated FB group. There are some butterfly dowels like used in furniture. Be careful when taking it down, because they are very easy to fall down.
Looks like a low cost consumable part that people are expected to replace….
Like the engine.
