- The GXV HILT Chronicles, Part 1, goes behind the curtain at Storyteller Overland’s headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, as the team overcomes the complexities of bringing a first-of-its kind adventure truck to market.
In this first film of a multi-part series, the engineering, design and production teams have approximately one year before the vehicle’s launch date, and they face challenges in measurements, weather, and bringing a 3D model to life. As the project rolls closer to completion, the Storyteller Overland team grows more and more excited as they witness a market-shattering adventure vehicle come to fruition.
“It is going to be the ultimate expression of everything we’ve been able to do here, and we’re going to be able to do it that much more.”

I cannot wait to see these HILTs out in the wild! Great job to the STO Team 🙌🏻
"Great job to the STO Team"....Really?
Beautiful piece of art. This will be our next home 🙏🏻 #goals
Awesome product, awesome story. Can’t wait for part 2! The Storyteller team should be very proud of this
Super Jazzed! It looks incredible! So interesting to hear and watch the production story.
Your team is awesome congratulations to everyone
Really enjoyed this video. Was awesome to see the process. Well done on the video but also an incredible rig 👍🏾
Great Job to the team. I however have 2 issues I feel need to be addressed.
1- Why is an electrical outlet push top mounted flush to the counter right next/ besides the drying rack for the dishes ?
2. For a see through price of $446,322 this vehicle cannot level itself ? The suspension can adjust ....but the rig overall cannot level out at camp...? Cheaper Rv's have support/leveling jacks that would provide a much better experience overall. @TalonSei did a review of this vehicle and when he took a shower the Hilt was unleveled and he was not able to level the rig.; suggesting a future update from Liquid Spring Suspension or Storyteller Overland.
For $446,322 people with money pay attention to the details of the things they plan on buying. IMO, I feel that this project / build is lacking a developed, tried and true , reliable leveling system that is capable across all environments/landscapes/ temperatures. The engineering teams have done a fantastic job thus far but until this rig is capable of self leveling at camp i cannot see spending that much of my money.
I sincerely love, love & love, this video too. 👍🏽 Hearing the story of development to actual being, by all the Craftspeople involved, is amazing!!!!! God Bless your new creation. Now, if Sandra Bullock excepts my overlanding invitation, I’ll upgrade from my ‘22 Beast. 😎
Oh yeah!
This is so well done. Beautiful rig and amazing film. Props to the creative team on this one.
Thanks a ton! @griffinconway
Thanks man!! We had a blast with it. Big fan of your stuff btw
Great job showcasing your team, it made a good impression as a potential customer. Comparing your product to the Earth Roamer, if you can do better on quality and beat them on their ridiculous prices, for sure I'll buy yours! Looking forward to Part II!
I'm just here for the Chronicles... This is so cool to see how the Mammoth was born...
Great to see all the design tools put into use by the engineers to build this wonderful machine
Love this! Congratulations!! 🎉
Unbelievably cool video around this new innovation! Great job @storytelleroverland!
Looking forward to viewing part 2.
Amazing work STO team. I really look forward to seeing one in the wild
Very interesting "go To Market" concept 👍 The challenge might be , can production satisfy demand. ( the price point has it SOLD OUT ) ~peace~
The capsule is not in one piece like LTi. Thats the important factor to avoid all headaches, ie leaks , squeak .
Your team is awesome, the HILTs looks so cool!
Sooo good!
Looks good like to see it in person
I’m excited too!
I seriously thought you guys would do something for the 170/170EXT sprinter vans before doing this route. Just because I have a family of 4 or 5 (if you consider your dog as family).
But you guys are about to make my dreams come true. The price for the earth roamer’s was out of my league for sure. But I’ll wait until the 2nd generation. The 1st generation is obviously where you’ll find the flaws & issues.
Storyteller Overland Hilt appears to be a nice vehicle, but a NuCamp Cirrus 820 and a Dodge Ram 3500 (loaded) setup is one third the cost and will take you to the same places in pretty much the same comfort. Plus, if the 820 needs service you’ll still have your truck.
Thank god your using a RAM chassis, awesome choice
@brian,
That little 5500 MediumDuty Truck ('MDT') would be my second choice.
A full-size HeavyDuty Truck ('HDT') would make my day!
International, Freightliner, Peterbilt, etcetera.
Warranty!!! 😂🤣
Wow. Wow. And wow! Great job everyone. Great solution for the market. Great story telling 😉 is service through StoryTeller or GXV?
LFG!!
You did a great job! Well done! Very good car! Successful lineup. Maybe you should change the shape of the alcove a little?.. It seems to me that your head is a little cramped when you sleep in an alcove. :)
Storyteller, when do we get part 2? And when do we get to see options like colors, satellite internet, and kitchen items? Earthroamer offers magnetic, custom fit flatware, knives, dishes and pans. They are overpriced, but it makes it convenient. I would love to see something like that with the improved Storyteller design aesthetic.
Nice 👍 wonder if it will be at Overland East in October?
Anyone know who makes the fiberglass cabin and where they are made?
Is this different from what GXV calls the adventure truck?
I'm concerned with it's long wheelbase, the heavy weight, the unproven hydraulic suspension and the promise of being half the price of the competitors. The biggest and the most", as the CEO said. This should be interesting. The fancy video was fueled with some fairy dust for sure.
Unproven suspension? Liquid springs has been around for quite some time.
It’s also called marketing.
What's the max highway speed based on the tires/wheels?
I’m literally selling my house and will put off ordering an Earthroamer. Wondering if it’s possible to a 1031 exchange with buying one of these high-end vehicles. They don’t appreciate but perhaps at least hold value.
production vehicle needs a larger fuel capacity option
test it in Mongolia
Porsche ain't got shit on the engineering talent at STO
Well, I guess you’re draining money because there’s copyright music on here but I don’t care.
