The issue with the NHS is that the Tories installed private companies to administer it, so they employ less qualified people, paying them less and charging huge administration fees. Its estimated that 12% of the NHS budget is going to these private firms.

    • @The3Pragmatic

The NHS needs more money because the UK population is getting older. As the population gets older, the need for care increases. During their 14 years in power the Tories decreased the budget of the NHS significantly. In 2010 the waiting time to access the emergency service was 1 hour and 30 minutes maximum. Before COVID, it was 4 hours. Currently it's up to 6 hours.

We all were told we have to take the brunt but pensioners think it shouldn’t be them there’s a chaos now but as soon as they say disabled people get back to work no chaos on that .

If people have to go private, it could cost a lot, only a real multi-millionaire with multi-million guaranteed income can feel absolutely protected without universal healthcare. But people on 100K who actually pay 30K in taxes, won't be able to afford an cancer treatment out of pocket. They will have to pay insurance premiums that will be maybe 300-500 a month. Why should people who are prudent, and don't squander their money on holidays, flash cars, and nights out be punished? Many try to keep some money by for emergency treatment. The NHS can leave you crippled and in agony for years with a defective hip or knee. You need around £20,000 to get it treated privately! Need a root canal on a rear molar? The NHS won't do this. They will pull your tooth. Getting it done privately and then having a Zirconia crown will save that tooth. I've had two teeth saved this way, but you won't see much change from £1,500 for each tooth.
