Lebron won 4 MVPs in the east. Also, Lebron did not dominate the east without Kyrie in 2018. They went to game 7's with Celtics and Pacers and you can argue if Lebron didn't get away with the goaltending at the end of game 7 against pacers he may have went home in the 1st round.

King Kylos The East is still considered weaker than the west. And even though the East is slightly better than previous years, Giannis and the bucks were head and shoulders above everybody else in the east. And it’s more of the fact that the same energy that was remonstrated toward lebron is not done to Giannis. When Lebron was dominating the East, other guys won the MVP when lebron was putting up ridiculous number and making the NBA finals.

04-05 Phoenix had the best record in the NBA and Steve Nash was the "most valuable" player on that team. If we go by stats, we can argue Marion or Stat could have both won over Shaq. Heck even Duncan had similar stats to Shaq and Spurs had same record as the Heat that year. I'm tired of Shaq constantly saying publicly that Nash "stole" MVP from him that year. Nash didn't steal anything, he won fair and square. Props goes out to all the voters that year for voting Steve Nash and forever changing the award to "most valuable" than "best".

We’ve had similar instances where this has happened with Jordan (1988), Duncan (2002), Dirk (2007), and even LeBron himself in 2010. He wasn't talking about narrative for the MVP award, he just said the criteria has changed since he joined the league.
