The Gilbert Arenas Wizards | Forgotten NBA Teams

- Опубликовано: 26 авг 2024
- This is our second episode in our series going over some forgotten NBA teams throughout history. Today we take a look back at the Washington Wizards who were led by the big three of Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler during the mid 2000s. Arenas was a player ahead of his time who had deep range and could get to the basket, but unfortunately injuries and an infamous locker room incident ended any potential this team had.

I’d love to see a video about the 2013-14 Pacers and all the drama that that team faced
Nah fr I was just searching youtube for a vid on them nobody made one yet which is crazy
Getting rid of Granger was a mistake, plus Hibbert just broke down mentally.
I was watching that team very closely, I’ll try to out one of these videos together.
Wtf for? PG the only 1 relevant.. you wanna watch some old ass Pacers you must be depressed
@@stupidnamewasterplease do bro
The story about why the owner gave him that contract was actually really heartwarming.
The locker room stories just reminds me of a quote that basically said your team is a reflection of its leader. And given level of unseriousness Gilbert possesses, as hilarious as it may be, I'm not surprised.
He even said this, plus his 2006 season when lost to LBJ they easily the better overall team
As a depressed wizards fan, I NEEDED THIS
I 2nd that😔
Dw you guys got poole now flinging up everything he touches 😊
@@troytheboy1985 misery
Depressed about no championships since 79'?
No 50 win seasons since 79'?
@@bryanttisdale2446 yes, depressed
Love Hibachi, but he has one of the greatest chokes of all time.
Those two missed free throws against the Cavs....when people say LeBron isn't a killer, I always refer them to that.
Took that man's heart.
he talked about this on his podcast really interesting story
I remember Gilbert since I started watching basketball in 2002. Oddly, the Wizards have never made it past the semi-conference finals since I've been tuning in.
Gilbert Arenas in his prime would survive in todays nba
Easily 33 ppg scorer in today era no question😂
@@RunHotsauce kevin durant is better than arenas, and he doesnt average 33 🤦♂️
He's overrated. Your typical volume shot chucker on a bad team. He'd score more sure but he'd also give up even more points.
"would survive" ain't saying much. He didnt survive back then 🤣🤣🤣
@@Mt554. when has averaging more point determine rather a player is better then the next player💀Arenas volume of shots he would take back then in an defensive era and still average 30 in that era soooo it’s pretty obvious that he’ll do more damage in an era that hasn’t have an defensive impact fr😂
Your vids are so great, love the way you tell stories here, it's so entertaining in a time where their is no basketball 🏀
They made the finals 4 times in the 70s must've been the only time in history you can enjoy being a Wizards fan.
Before Lebronto, there was Lebronshington.
That's fire tbh
Ahhh the LeWizards but Gilbert Arenas was fun to watch tho🔥
😂 “u miss this ur goin home”
Not the most important nugget to this video but it'd shed some light on why the Lakers traded for Kwame: The previous season had a gridlock at SF (Butler, Devean George, Luke Walton and Juaine Jones). They were thin on bigs. Vlade Divac played less than ten games and retired. The backup C was Brian Grant who they used the amnesty clause on leaving only Chris Mihm. The Lakers needed a big and the only properly tradable SF was Butler (Jones got traded to Charlotte for just a draft pick).
As a wizards fan, thank you guys for showing this squad some love. But yeah, horrible luck this franchise had lol
They have been horribly ran by the front office for so long
Spurs 50 Win seasons since 79'
(26) 50 win seasons. 😮
Washington wizards/Bullets 50 win seasons since 79'.
(0) ........
(0) repeat. 🫣😶😔.
that Wizards squad with Gil, Jamison and Caron Butler (and also Larry Hughes in the beginning) was my favorite team to watch besides the lakers. they were so fun to watch and i think they might've even had the 2nd best offense behind only the Suns at one point.
They did but didn't have good leadership.
I would love to see a vid on the Shean Kemp/Gary Payton Supersonics, they never won a ring because of Jordan but they still seem like a really fun team🔥🔥💯
I remember him in NBA Live days during my childhood. Agent Zero is a real deal at his time
the world needed this
Gilbert Arenas was very much important to the nba. Petitioned for 2nd rounders and undrafted guys to get paid earlier than 1st round picks. Amnesty clause was also introduced cause of his massive contact from the wizard to help teams rebuild from a bad contract. Truly generational
Should’ve covered the DeShawn Stevenson/Soulja Boy vs LeBron and JayZ beef. Can’t talk about the wizards without that
True. It would have been great to hear them chronicle that.
THE SUNS CONTENT FROM THIS CHANEL IS FIRE!
Bout to be even better. When they choke again in the playoffs.
Aye naw the wizards owner is real af for that we need more owners like that. I’m not saying giving deals just bc but just looking out for there stars especially when you have no future anyway like lakers with Kobe in his last few years
2 game winners by lebron in his first playoff series. Unreal. Loved watching those battles with the wizards teams
The story gets even more chilling when people found out Javaris Crittenton gets a 23 years in prison for Atlanta shooting death
It gets even more chilling when you find out that Gibert threatened him and pulled a gun on him first....
This was my team when I was a kid man I had multiple Jamison and arenas jerseys. This team has done nothing but hurt me in the decades and a half since
I had a authentic blue Wizards Arenas jersey. It was stolen from me on a grey hound bus. It still eats at me to this day.
Great episode guys 👍
Bro brought a gun to the facility
Walk in areas like Gilbert Areans😤😤🔥🔥
Hibachi!!!
I'd like to see a video on Neal O'Shea and how he ruined the Blazers. Also congrats on 40k!
The funny part is everyone is REALLY about to find out how ahead of his time Gilbert is with adjusting his home to Colorado’s sea level because Denver’s home advantage is about to destroy the league in their repeat year
Keep the great videos coming love the content
love this channel glad I found it ! can y’all do a video on TMac??
Isiah Thomas coached Knicks with Steve Francis and Stephon marbury
Gilbert could have played with Elton Brand if he chose the Clippers. Which was a better team than the Wizards. Gilbert got out of the first round just one time and have the nerve to disrespect Giannis.
Dude, the Clippers back then were cursed. Some bad shit probably would have happened to him worse than Washington. At least with the Wizards, he had his moments in the Sun...
I think I just found my new favorite basketball channel
Nah those jerseys were fucking fire.
Great video 🔥🔥
Making jokes about guns and Gilbert just wanted to honor Washington history and Bullets championship. Completely misunderstood guy.
What about the 2014 nets
next do 1996 bulls , they were truly underrated , I doubt you've even heard of them
I love this series
ya'll got to watch his gils arena podcast and his no chill gil podcast he funny and he be speaking fax
Remember when Arenas changed his uniform # from 0 to 9 to match his favorite gun caliber?
Do Chris Bosh and The Raptors People forget about Chris Bosh being a beast before Miami I feel like he fading away from memory with all these youngins 😂😂😂
even the universe didnt want mj on the wizards this proves he took it personal
Danke!
Make a video on yao Ming’s rockets run
Critteren was about that life, he is in prison for 25 years for murder in 2011, Gilbert got real lucky. Also Gilbert Arenas got paid until 2020 I think they cut and stretched that huge contract.
Actually, Javaris made a deal where he can get 10 years in prison. He's currently released right now only serving 12 years of his sentence
Gil had him on his Podcast too . Not to long ago . There good.
"did he just clamped by Sebastian Telfair? 🤣
He didn't explain what he did to his house well. Though practically everywhere is above sea level, it's not Denver type altitude. Trust that 💩 is different, the effect on oxygen intake doesn't feel like Miami beach. Credit to him bc that allowed him to log some serious minutes
please put the background theme song list in the description
My favorite teams ❤️
Off topic but the 18-19 76ers would be a good “best teams to not win a chip”
Good in theory, but never lived up to their potential.
As it stands, I wouldn't even put them in the top 5 best teams to never win a chip in the last 10 years.
@@brianduru3753 True. I do like that team on paper but I can't say a team that didn't even make it past the semis is a "best team to not win".
My boys I love you please do a vid on knicks
Who heard about Gilbert arenas blasting Hakeem Olajuwon about how he was charging guys 55K to learn about his foot work and how footwork is a thing of the past
Can yall talk about the 2008 09 Orlando magic.
Had no idea Gil was drafted by/on the warriors
Do the 2013 Knicks next!
Next up: 2013/2014 Pacers, 2017 Wizards
He was so damn good lol
Overrated
2012-2013 Knicks pls
I’m bias when it comes to this team. In a honest look back, the GM was too bad for this team to ever have real success. They drafted guys that were no help like Jared Jeffries and Jarvis Hayes when they probably should’ve made some trades to get one serious piece. They had a lot of talent but it was too many immature guys in this locker room and no real staff to keep them on task.
1:55 Wizards was bad but u look at 2004 man the east was had. NETS WITH 47 WINS A 2 SEED and Detroit with 54 wins a 3
No one ever actually talks about how skilled this team was they only ever laugh at Gil. Like this was a great wizards team that ran into some buzz saws. Y'all didn't even talk about how good they were.
Gold Wizard jersey was fire, you’re trippin. Almost trippin as bad as Brenden Haywood bum ass was when the wizards had an autograph signing for free and he was trying to charge fans $100 on the low and I had to explain to him that he was a bum and there’s no way anyone is paying you that. His stack of pictures was untouched.
10:21 arenas wearing number 9 ?
Dame going to the bucks
Well interesting fact: Gilbert Arenas was going to be a top-10 pick in the draft, but due to his immaturity, he got sent to the 31st.
One: he doesn't do the treadmill training because he doesn't want his new shoes to get dirty.
Two: the NBA interviewer asked him what he would do in the future. He answered a pimp. They asked again can you say anything smarter, and he said he wants to be an international pimp.
Three: he blew his money before his rookie contract.
But that seemed to be a blessing in disguise for Agent Zero.
2012-2013 Knicks
Is it just me or very video they make feels like it's re-uploaded and watched
Yup. Same here.
Lets go

Like I swear arenas seem like the type to do shit like that 😂😂😂
That Tom and Jerry footage took me out while describing this 😂
Idk but i really thought you guys were black. Y'all voices are just so damn catchy and fun to listen to hahaha
Dame is a buck WHATTT💀
Those wizards teams were good but always ran into better teams
I am pretty sure it was between the warriors and the wizards where the coin flip happened
Ja Morant before Ja Morant
Overrated.. he be on the podcast talking like he won back2 back mvps ..
Clutch Scale 0-10 Lebron 5, Kobe 8.5, MJ 10, AI 6, Larry Bird 4.5, Magic 9. Scale is based on finals' adversities. Kobe had a bad Game 7 against Boston. Lebron against Dallas is obvious but the Heat losses look really bad to me. If you go to the Finals with MJ.....You will win every time. That's just a fact I can't deny.
Can't say Bill Russell because he didn't play against the best Talent due to the ABA
There is absolutely no way you consider Magic or AI more clutch than Lebron, that’s just pathetic 😂
Have you seen M.J before pippen emerged.
Migraine game in 90' game 7. Bulls lost Jordan played ....(Hint *Game was not close). 😮
