    I know this is an older video but I'm seeing it for the first time....
    OMG....When you said "That's it?!?!" I was expecting to see around 50mph. Then it was 70mph!
    I wanted to slap ya!!! LOL!
    That's stupid fast on the first run on a street road (non dedicated to RC) with a Tamiya TT02 set up!
    Yes, you've hopped it up but it's no like you're shaving weight or working on the body to get to that speed!
    (But you will or have LOL)
    Just shows what you can do with the Tamiya setups. They spend a lot of time on their end perfecting what you get for the money! I'll have to watch more of your vids to see what becomes of this.
    So glad to see your son out there....in the wild....errr outdoors!

    Just finished installing my upgrades on my TT02 following yours, and it’s made so much difference to the performance been really useful thanks :-). Just need a longer car park. Only tricky part is I’m on nimh batteries as I’m a bit weary around lipos and can’t really store them outside. Read a few comments about the weight but any advice on whether there’s any lghtweight Nimh batteries with enough grunt or safer lipo advice? Ever thought Of front and rear splitters for grip snd downforce? Loving the videos 👍

    • @KaizerTest
      @KaizerTest  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the compliments brother! 😃🍺🍺 I appreciate that very much.
      As for Lipo's I was leary of them too but you need not be. If you only have a few you're ok. Get a metal box to put them in when not in use. I use an old ammo can but anything metal would work. A metal pail with a floor tile on top even. Just make sure the rubber seal on the ammo can is removed so it's not air tight.
      Charge the batteries on ceramic tile or a concrete basement floor just in case...because those surfaces wont catch fire.
      Get a small cell checker/analyser that connects to the balance port when you want to check the cells to see if they are at a storage charge of around 3.8v per cell.
      I have a cheap charger off Amazon...it works fine. A lot of them use the same internals and interface looks the same.
      Keep an eye on the batteries when they are charging.
      Really if you just follow a few basic rules you will never have a problem. Very rarely anything will happen. And if it's charging on a concrete or tile floor away from the wall or drapes then nothing will catch fire. I've never had an issue. Also charge in a Lipo bag although I don't. I just keep it away from walls etc as I said.
      As for the front and rear splitter my Proche GT body has front downforce but yeah maybe lifting the ing up on the rear may help but then I will probably lose top speed...hahaha. It's all a balance. Didi you see my other TT-02 video on this car now? 97Mph so far. ruclips.net/video/6JLOzsLmprM/видео.html

    I have not driven my RC's in a few years because it is hard to get batteries here. Due to the rough roads, all vehicles are monster trucks, buggies, or stadium trucks. So far the fast is about 75-80 mph, usually going any faster is flirting with a major wreck, even on the larger scale chassis. I know one of the trucks is capable of at least 100 mph, that is theoretical of course with the power, motor, batteries, and gearing. The issue is the chassis struggles beyond 60 mph. I really want to get a chassis like the TT02 or an older TC3 and find a cleared street in town for some speed runs.

      Thanks Chris I use BSR foams and Contact racing foams that are 26mm. Go for a higher shore rating or they wont last you long. The lower the shore the more grip and the higher the shore the harder and longer lasting they are. Ease into the throttle slowly up to speed. Also have a little toe out on the front end of the car and get some aluminum 2.5 rear uprights so you have toe in on the rear. Stock TT02's have little rear toe in and no front toe out. These 2 thing will help straight line stability a lot. Here's some links to what you need. www.ebay.ca/itm/Tamiya-Aluminum-R-Upright-2-5-Degrees-for-RC-TT02-54549/283934799044?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
      Tires:
      www.ebay.com/itm/Contact-RC-J14273-1-10-Foam-Front-Tires-26mm-42Shore-JAP-Black-Carbon-Wheels-2/132770540812?epid=1266271135&hash=item1ee9bdad0c:g:mR0AAOSwaaZfTCgW
      Maybe grab some around 35 shore as well if it's a more slippery road. Either will work if you ease into the throttle.

    I'm thinking of getting one of these and I was just wondering can you just stick a brushless motor in there or do you have to do upgrades to the gears

    • @KaizerTest
      @KaizerTest  4 года назад

      Well speed runs are pretty easy on the gears because you ease into the throttle up to speed. Even drifting with a brushless system wont really hurt it too much because the tires are spinning. Now..off road the drivetrain is kinda weak. I broke my rear end bevel gear in 1 minute offroad in my TT02B (which is the buggy offroad version) So I put all steel gears in the rear diff and crown and bevel gear and even the spur gear...all steel. Then I broke a dogbone on 3s with slightly bigger tires. They are good cars but onroad the TT02 is a better car in my opinion. I got it up to 97mph now...just 3 shy of 100mph. So I will try again when I get time. Hopefully this season I can get it to 100. They are good cheap on road cars that can be made to go fast pretty cheap. Just get some 2-3 degree rear aluminum castor blocks so you get some rear toe in for stability at speed and run a little toe out up front for stability.

    Hi I am doing a speed build at the min with a tt02 and was wondering if you modified the diffs at all?

    • @KaizerTest
      @KaizerTest  Год назад +1

      This TT02 is the TT02 RR (discontinued I believe). It has a different diff that is fluid filled and has nylon and steel planetary gears inside. The stock TT02 diff will hold up to speed runs because there isn't a lot of torque on the gears. You roll the power on the throttle so it should be fine. GPM makes steel diff gears and that makes the diff bulletproof on a TT02. I have a set in my TT02 buggy. But I would say it's not needed for a speed run TT02.

      What battery and esc do you want to run? I would suggest 2s Lipo. But the car can handle 3s Lipo as long as you run an 80amp esc minimum. Better to get a 120amp and then you dont need to worry about overheating. One of the cheap 80 or 120amp esc's off of Amazon or Ebay will work. Gool RC or Surpass Hobby. Get a 3900kv to 5900kv 3650 motor. For gearing you can leave it stock to start. It will be plenty fast on stock gearing with just adding the motor and esc I recommended. Two important things for straight line stability at high speed are toe in on the rear tires(buy 2 degree aluminum rear uprights again Ebay) and get some adjustable front steering links so you can run a little toe out. This will make it track straight at high speed. Start off in an open area with no curbs and see how it handles. Rubber tires balloon and are good to 40-50Mph. Any faster and you will want foam tires. If you need any help feel free to ask me. Let me know what esc and battery you have to start.

    Many people looked down on The tt02. I have bought one a few years ago, put it in The shelf because I bought an xray rx8 in its Place. But looking back it seems like I want to upgrade my tt02 to match your spec. Mine is The regular one btw.

    • @KaizerTest
      @KaizerTest  4 года назад

      I like the TT02 because its cheap and parts are plentiful. Plus its fun making something like a Tamiya go this fast. I have about 6 TT-02's (two TT02 Buggies and the rest street)
      The diff's I have in the TT02R have steel gears but you can probably just put thick diff oil in your stock diff. The Fibreglass and steel stock dogbones are probably ok too because in a speed run car there's not alot of bottom end...it's a slow build to top speed...plus your not turning alot.
      You need a Yeah Racing adjustable motor mount and touring car 49 or 52 tooth 48p spur and a 45 tooth pinion then go up and down from there. You also need the Tamiya High speed gear set which comes with the aluminum spur gear mount. The motor is a cheap 5900kv surpass/GoolRc motor. Maybe a 5200kv may be better to get to top speed quicker. I was using a cheap 120amp GoolRc/RCcharlance esc to get to 90mph...but have since switched to an Arrma BLX 185.
      Foam tires are a must. BSR Foams or Contact Racing Foams.
      I have it ready with a new body so stay tuned for another video coming. Hopefully 100mph soon.

    • @KaizerTest
      @KaizerTest  3 года назад

      hahaha. Yes...but with a few small mods you can fit different gears. basically you want closer to 1:1 pinion and spur gear ratio. For 97mph I used Robinson racing 52 tooth spur gear and a Robinson Racing 45 T pinion. You need to use a Dremel rotary tool or some way to cut open the area above the pinion gear on the little plastic gear cover. The spur is ok because you are going smaller. It's really easy and because it's on the road not much dirt gets in. But I only did a few passes each speed run outing. For a regular parking lot basher you don't want gears this tall. Hit me up any time if you have questions. 🍺🍺

    is that the motor you are using?
    what esc should I put on there if I want to get a 3s on there? I couldn't find one that matched the name in your description
    what parts should I switch to aluminum for durability?
    what tires do you recommend?
    sorry for all the questions, I'm 14 and just want to know exactly what I need to get the car running after failing miserably with an fpv drone.
    thanks in advance brother :)

    • @KaizerTest
      @KaizerTest  3 года назад +1

      Hi bro. The esc was a 120amp esc. You can use a GoolRC or Surpass Hobby. If you have a few more bucks you can use a Hobbywing Max10 SCT combo with motor. The SCT version of the Max 10 can handle more amperage. But a combo like this will work. www.amazon.com/Programming-Sensorless-Waterproof-Electronic-Controller/dp/B08LYH17L2/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=120%2Bamp%2Besc&qid=1606361816&sr=8-3&th=1
      The servo isn't that important(it is but a cheaper one will suffice.) A good radio is important. I recommend this radio for 1) Long distance range and 2) It has many features like a gyro and steering exponential. The steering exponential is important because it slows the steering movement down in the center part of the servo travel. So if you make a movement the steering only moves a tiny bit until you move the wheel more to the side then it respond normal. Very helpful to go straight fast.
      The link for the motor is the same motor I'm using.
      On a stock TT02 the bare minimum on aluminum parts would be the rear uprights/castor blocks. The stock TT02 has zero rear toe in. For speed runs you need at least 2 degrees. www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-54733-Tt-02-Aluminum-Rear-Uprights-3-0-Degree/264535904459?epid=595262254&hash=item3d979190cb:g:d04AAOSwM6Zd0Lyl
      After that I would say Aluminum steering bel crank but it's not necessary for 80mph. An aluminum driveshaft and end shafts would be nice but not necessary.
      You do need the Tamiya high speed gear set. Mostly for the adaptor that will let you run touring car spur gears. I recomment Robinson racing spurs. I used a 52 tooth spur and 45 T pinion. But this setup is for speed runs only. Same with that motor. If you want to run that motor for bashing around a bit more get a 60T spur and run a smaller pinion. Amain Hobby has all the Robinson gears. Also I think Ebay will have them. Also you need to dremel out the pinion/spur cover so you can fit a large pinion. You need to make room because the cover wont go on and this cover holds a driveshaft bearing in so you need the cover on.
      For tires use BSR foams in 35 shore or up to 42 compound or use Contact racing foams(ebay). I think I used 26mm tires or 30mm. I need to check that.
