Oh... My... Goodness... My Dear Jill, I have only just seen this performance now (Sep 23) and I am so absolutely touched by it. You did such a lovely job, thank you so much. It's always an honor and a pleasure to see another artist play one of my pieces, and that you performed it so lovely, with great intonation, wonderful use of harmonics and dynamics, and most of all, you played with your heart and soul which brings this melody so alive on the violin. What an absolute treat for me to see. It's always inspiring for me to hear my music played so beautifully. A big hug to you, and deep appreciation. Steve Vai

It's incredible to see how far Jill has come. I still remember her early Rose-Noire era and her playing was pretty normal...a few years later she uploaded her first cover of The Dance of Eternity and I was really impressed, but this, man, this really blows my mind. She's one of the few pros who keep pushing themselves to become better no matter how good they already are.

I expected her to do just fine on all the slides (not too different than some Paganini or Ernst style cadenzas) and given Steve has a very wide, violin like vibrato (though not Yngwie levels) that wasn't going to be much of an issue. The thing that blew me away was how seamlessly she managed the weird inversions and chord voicings and how the hell was she getting that much volume and power on the harmonics, damn!

Well Jill has been playing the violin for over 30 years since before she learned to speak and is gifted (she has a condition where her visual cortex part of the brain processes sound information so her perception of sound is unique, just like you see unique colors, she distinctly percepts every possible frequency pitch in her hearing range), and it only took her 1 week from hearing this tune for the first time to recording it for this cover record, she also said it was the hardest piece on the cover record for her, so all this put together basically means she cake-walked through these guitar virtuosos

JILL has a perfect pitch. No, not where many talented musicians have perfect pitch hearing relative to other notes. She has perfect pitch in that one note and she can tell you what note that is. She is a very unusual person. She started violin at age 3. She learned violin before knowing the notes. She played by hearing. She sees the world in sound. Yeah, a very unusual person.

@@mksland3884 Steve needs to perform it with Jill (violinist in this video) someday. I don't know how is his right hand healing now but Jill can totally back him on this. She learned this entire piece in 1 week (that is 1 week from never hearing it before to recording it). Plus she can really use some publicity, the only reason she had to market herself for the first time in her 30+ year playing career is because of pandemic, live-focused non-marketed musicians got hit hard.

Getting this difficult piece technically right is one thing. It's hard...but that's what skilled classical violinists DO, and Jill has mad chops. But also capturing the feel of the piece so well that the hair on the back of my neck was standing up...that's mastery. Huge shout-out to Ogawa and Fumiya, too: the rhythm section makes or breaks a downtempo song like this, and they killed it.

She has been playing violin since age 3 and for over 30 years, she can play absolutely anything from Paganini and Bach to this. I heard her play Jazz and Latin melodies and harmonies in another video and it was absolutely mesmerizing. This particular piece from Steve Vai she figured out in 1 week (that is from hearing it for the first time to recording it!) and also it was the hardest guitar piece for her from this cover album, she basically breezed through electric guitar virtuosos.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD (Pelo amor the Deus) ficou magistral com Steve Vai (principalmente na versão o vivo com a Holland Metropole Orchestra, 2005, com orquestração de Chris Opperman), e depois, ficou magistral, também, com os dedos flamejantes da (bela, exótica e virtuosas) violinista japonesa Jill.

There are very few people who know their instrument so well that it seems that their instrument is an extension of themselves. Jill is one of those people. She thinks what she wants to play and it just happens. She makes it seem easy, but no doubt it took many years of determination and hard work to get to that point - besides the obvious - PURE GENIUS!

Is Jill the best violinist I have ever heard? No idea. I have no basis to compare and judge. But Jill, with the rest of Unlucky Morpheus, brings the most unique and beautiful violin pieces not written for violin I have ever been able to hear, and that make her my favorite violinist anyway.

If you did not know this is a Steve Vai song, you'd think this is part of the soundtrack of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".and composed by Tan Dun instead of Steve Zai. It's the violin.

violinists are faster than guitarists because: 1. bowing is faster than strumming despite having own other set of difficulties 2. there is less distance to travel between notes than on guitar, 3. no frets to slow you down, 4. there are a good number of violin pieces unplayable on guitar but with 'Loud Playing Workshop' Jill shows that a great violinist can handle great guitar virtuosos no problem

@@RavennaRose928 btw 'For The Love Of God' was the hardest piece for her out of all on the 'Loud Playing Workshop' (due to Steve's nuances and technique not directly translatable to violin so she had to get creative) and even that took her only 1 week from hearing it for the first time to recording it, she's been playing violin since age 3 and for over 30 years and has a gift called the 'absolute pitch' where her visual cortex part of the brain processes sound information so she percepts sound absolutely not relatively, basically she just cake-walked through neoclassical guitar virtuosos
