AnimeEveryday yeah I agree. You're videos are always really professional, plus you have that really nice, pleasing voice that's easy to understand and refreshing to listen to. You really do deserve a larger fan base.
I'm surprised that anything about their style wasn't really talked about, not even a descriptor. I mean, I'm not really sure it's easy to sum up what Shaft is, but given how monolithic the Monogatari series became I thought you might at least mention the style of directing or at least how many sequels it actually had.
Shaft hasn't made any of my favourite shows, but as KyoAni does, they consistently create shows I always enjoy, and always find of high quality and entertainment value. They have a very characteristic style that sets them apart from any other studio, which makes me value them even more.
Will you be covering the Monogatari franchise at all? Considering how much you like atmosphere and symbolism, I would think it would be a great group of series for you to cover.
How about a video on Kunihiko Ikuhara? Regardless of your opinion on his abstruse style, his influence on anime is undeniably huge. Arguably, Revolutionary Girl Utena did to shoujo and magical girl genres what NGE did to shounen and mecha. You don't really discuss anime aimed at women too much, so it would be great to hear your views on Ikuhara's work.
nice ....do one for studio deen or studio bones ....also i really like to know more about yoshitoshi ABE but im too lazy to go search it and your videos are better ...
I really enjoy these videos. For the directors videos, would you consider doing one for Mamoru Hosoda, as you haven't covered his films yet? Just an idea.
Probably all of the -monogatari series. What's your opinion of Akiyuki Shinbo anyway? I thought he used symbolical shots and huge amount of words either written or spoken only in -monogatari series, but recently I've gotten to Sayonara Zetsubou sensei and it's very simillar.
Nice video! Always a pleasure to know more about the industry. Do you know any web (apart from wikipedia) where I can find more information about the japanese studios?
frequency15k They've been requested a lot, unfortunately there isn't much info available about their careers. Hopefully in the future i can do one, i'd love to :)
Wait a minute. That picture of the Negima cast. They're Touhou cosplaying! IIRC, some of the people involve in Negima are big Touhou fans, right? I haven't watched the series yet TBH.
I don't really enjoy Shaft shows though I can understand why some might. I'll do a little browsing through their archives to find my favorite show made by them.
No mention of the seiyu. One of the main reasons that their anime dominate are Kana Hanazawa, Chiwa Saito, Youko Hikasa, et al. If you ever watch a dub, remember that those actors are NOT the ones chosen by the studio. They are used as a cash grab in the US market, and I've never heard a US dub actor that can do any justice to the original material.
Shaft to me is already dying. After Zetsubou sensei and Bakemonogatari. It feels like they use the style simply to use it. Not because it enhances the show in some way but just because they can. I still give them props though since the Monogatari franchise is probably the only harem I'll ever enjoy. Meduka Meguca was also enjoyable but to me...Nothing outstanding. And the Meguca movies are probably some of the biggest cashgrabs I've ever seen. The two recap movies were almost the same length as the show and they still felt extremely rushed compared to the show. Completely unneeded. The third movie as well... And with all the money they got from the Monogatari and Madoka franchise(Yes, I said it correctly this time) It really is a wonder how they can do such a bad job on shows. Shitty actors being the biggest example. I don't know... I just feel like they're riding the hype train that they've built but it's already on its last tracks. People simply watch Shaft shows because "Hey it's shaft" and it'll sell more than enough simply because again...They're Shaft.
you really deserve to be more popular, i really like your vids!
BigJerBD Thanks bud :)

But what could a spotlight on Shaft be without mention of the famous "Shaft Head Tilt"?
It's a beautiful things to show how good animation shaft has
So... Many..... Head..... Tilts....

I love your content! Always intellectual and you always voice your opinion without pulling any punches. Keep up the good work!
Love the quality of your videos.
Take care and stay well.
Shaft, easily my top 5 studio.
Consistent editing style and some interesting background info. Nice vid.
Shaft hasn't made any of my favourite shows, but as KyoAni does, they consistently create shows I always enjoy, and always find of high quality and entertainment value.

Being able to binge the monogatari from bake to kizumono is such a wonderful era to born
Now if they could just release Kizumonogatari
CornishCreamtea07 we're gonna be made skeletons when it comes out
CornishCreamtea07 and it got released...
it's fantastic
Your wish was granted
I'm a little surprised that you didn't mention Ef: A Tale Of Memories / Melodies
:O

Crazy how Madoka Magica broke Shaft's own record of Blu Ray sales of Bakemonogatari. *54,000* Sales in a week, with *22,000* on the first day. Goddam.
the people that made tokyo ghoul and... ... ... other stuff i would have to look up!
My favorite anime that Shaft made is Nisekoi!
I really enjoy these videos. For the directors videos, would you consider doing one for Mamoru Hosoda, as you haven't covered his films yet? Just an idea.

if you are doing another one of these spotlights, could you please do studio bones?
I don't know if it was intentional or not, but you used a Negima x Touhou crossover fanart for your Negima! sample picture. Threw me off a bit. :)
Wonderfull videos as always. However will you ever do some videos regarding manga ? Or you just dont read any manga.
You should do a spotlight on Production IG!
Please do Industry Spotlight on Yoshiyuki Tomino and Studio Sunrise
Nice video! Always a pleasure to know more about the industry.
Do you know any web (apart from wikipedia) where I can find more information about the japanese studios?
D SR Unfortunately it's not well documented. Try interviews with staff and official websites.
you should do one of these over yuasa masaaki or yoshitoshi ABe :p
frequency15k They've been requested a lot, unfortunately there isn't much info available about their careers. Hopefully in the future i can do one, i'd love to :)
AnimeEveryday
oh well thats cool too, keep up the great work, loving the videos :)
frequency15k Thanks :)
im always here for class :)
What about Rintaro? He did work there but you didn't mention him, AnimeEveryday
STUDIO SHAAAAFTTT
1:38. They did Negima!? not Negima!
The Monogatari series saved anime.
I gave Madoka Magica, Ef Memories and Hidamari Sketch all 10/10, so those. And for other Shaft shows, it isn't uncommon to have 9/10 scores.
yoo shaft goat
Wait a minute. That picture of the Negima cast. They're Touhou cosplaying! IIRC, some of the people involve in Negima are big Touhou fans, right? I haven't watched the series yet TBH.
best studio by far
That title goes to madhouse
Fkitoh Akrox That's not how you spell Madhouse
Why don't you just do studio Bones already? :P

The only Shaft show I like sayonara zetsubou sensei
Monogatari series, madoka magica and sayonara zetsubou sensei is my fav of the bunch
Do toei animation next please
Technically, Eto Rangers is from the 90s
studio shaft is declining after the end of the monogatari series
Facts

The only people who bared to watch that to this point have all definitly read the finnished manga by now
dont worry there's still no season 3
dam it late 2 hrs
I love Shaft but they under budget way too much.
