Lyrics: I hear the sound of distant thunder, echo all around I see the tragedy of young ones lying on the ground I see the fathers' sons and daughters, I hear the mothers crying Nothing left for me to do, but, whisper a prayer for the dying Oh, a prayer for the dying The suffocating heat of jungles, and burning desert sands Where everything reminds you, you're a stranger in a strange land The soothing words of politicians, those bodyguards of lies While guardian angels waste their time and every mother cries Oh, a prayer for the dying, dying, dying Machine gun, battle cry, you pray to God when the bullets fly The bombs fall like black rain, an' all your dreams take you home again Nothing but bad dreams You can't read, you can't write You're so scared, you can't sleep at night You try to carry the heavy load Walking down Armageddon road Oh, Armageddon road I hear the sound of distant thunder, echo all around I see the tragedy of young ones lying on the ground I see the fathers' sons and daughters, I hear the mothers crying Nothing left for me to do, but, whisper a prayer for the dying Oh, a prayer for the dying, dying Oh, a prayer for the dying, baby, baby Oh, a prayer for the dying, dying Whisper a prayer for the dying You can't run, you can't hide You can't show what you feel inside You're going crazy, going insane You know you'll never be the same again, no, no Whisper a prayer for the dying, dying, dying, dying, dying, no, no Armageddon road, Armageddon road I'm walking down Armageddon road
Fantastic musicians. Fantastic band. This is the very best of DC and Jimmy Page. They really got the best from each other on this album. An absolute bloody tragedy that they never followed it up with another album. Superb stuff!!
@@mikej70It had more radio friendly hits. If that's what you mean. Walking into Clarksdale was well received and a good album. Two totally different styles of music and Coverdale is certainly no Robert Plant. Not even close

It's so Good to see so many that love this Awesome Album. I remember seeing a bunch of Return Used Copies in Wherehouse Music back in 1993. I went ahead and bought my copy anyway. Great job on my part because I still Love it.

Lyrics: Life is a waterfall We're one in the river And one again after the fall Swimming through the void, we hear the word We lose ourselves, but we find it all 'Cause we are the ones that want to play Always want to go, but you never want to stay And we are the ones that want to choose Always want to play but you never want to lose Aerials in the sky When you lose small mind, you free your life Life is a waterfall We drink from the river Then we turn around and put up our walls Swimming through the void, we hear the word We lose ourselves, but we find it all 'Cause we are the ones that want to play Always want to go, but you never want to stay And we are the ones that want to choose Always want to play but you never want to lose Oh Aerials in the sky When you lose small mind, you free your life Aerials, so up high When you free your eyes, eternal prize Aerials in the sky When you lose small mind, you free your life Aerials, so up high When you free your eyes, eternal prize Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

This song is prevalent even through these current events....and what's happening in world right now.....{🇷🇺VS 🇺🇦}....they should start playing it on the rock radio stations again
What a great song and underrated album. Page did what he had to. He tried to continue the Led Zep legacy. Coverdale is not Plant but did one helluva job sounding similar. This might be what Zep would've sounded like if they hadn't of broken up.
Utter perfection. Merely the outrageous existence of Rainbow's "Stargazer" (rest in peace RJD, you are and will remain unreachable!) prevents "Whisper..." from being the best song ever.

I worked at a record store when this came out. I was in the back, checking in product, jamming the cd on the old boom box back there and the cd got stuck during the breakdown before the guitar solo. Took me 10 minutes to notice the same section being repeated over and over because it sounded good! LOL
Such a great song! Such a classic album! This is why Robert Plant doesn't want to get back together because David Coverdale was always come paired to him!
No music knowledge? Listen to the intro's of both songs back to back. The main guitar riff is damn near identical. If you can't hear that....you have no musical comprehension at all.
I was listening to this one in the streets of Paris, back in 1993. This track, like several off this LP, is Led Zeppelin quality. Strange thing, is that, here, in 2015, the lyrics seem even more relevant. "You pray to God as the bullets fly." That's physical: look up combat footage from Syria, etc. Musically, Lyrically, this is very powerful song. This one should have been a Led Zeppelin song. Whisper a Prayer for the Living, Prespos
One of the best album closers ever.
But heavier, way heavier
One of the best if not the best vocal performance by Mr. Coverdale ever... incredible voice.
Any thing page does is bound to be a masterpiece. I bought this CD back in 1993 and I still have the same one
I still have the cassette.
All these years later this song still speaks truth to our current state of affairs in the world. Lord help us.
One of the best album closers ever.
one of the best songever singed by Coverdale...and what a voice! wonderful song, SO UNDERRATED!
Mmm for sure my mom is a fan of this band

great follow on from outrider....another forgotten masterpiece.
tony nickols,

Legends.

@@stewartmatthews1551 lead singer is David Coverdale, known from Deep Purple and mostly Whitesnake

It is a great song for sure. Page on guitar always makes everything all right.

Second best song on this album.
beyond underrated !!! one of the 10 best of the 90's. let's be honest, kurt isn't holding jimmy's jock !! with all respect
This is one of the most beautiful songs

What a banger! Been into it since the day it was released! 💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🌋
This album is so damn brilliant.
The meaning behind the song is what hits me.
What can I say? Masterpiece
The best of coverdale´s songs I've heard. A very good teamplay with page´s wonderful riffs.
This Album is Holy!
One of the best collaborations ever.
It's not just the music itself that kicks ass ...the lyrics actually have / make a point ....masters ..at the top of their game
What a great album. I hate that it was taken down from streaming years ago now
My faith is restored , someone else gets this album
This song is master piece.
interesting fact - Coverdale and Page dedicated this song to the victims on the war in ex-Jugoslavia.
Another good one about this is Pick Up The Bones by Alice Cooper
That's some Epic info
This is one of the best pairing of talents ever this is just majestic and wonderful these two should collaborated more
Wow This song is unbelievable! LOVE IT!
Lyrics: Life is a waterfall
We're one in the river
And one again after the fall
Swimming through the void, we hear the word
We lose ourselves, but we find it all
'Cause we are the ones that want to play
Always want to go, but you never want to stay
And we are the ones that want to choose
Always want to play but you never want to lose
Aerials in the sky
When you lose small mind, you free your life
Life is a waterfall
We drink from the river
Then we turn around and put up our walls
Swimming through the void, we hear the word
We lose ourselves, but we find it all
'Cause we are the ones that want to play
Always want to go, but you never want to stay
And we are the ones that want to choose
Always want to play but you never want to lose
Oh
Aerials in the sky
When you lose small mind, you free your life
Aerials, so up high
When you free your eyes, eternal prize
Aerials in the sky
When you lose small mind, you free your life
Aerials, so up high
When you free your eyes, eternal prize
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
