- Have you ever wondered how do to update a DJI Phantom drone? If you have, in this video I update the firmware of my DJI Phantom 3 Standard, but this should still work for any other DJI drone as well such as the P4.

Carson Miller please help I have a phantom 3 standard but it won't fly more than 60 before the Rth kicks in ??? It is not on beginners mode. I'm on the latest firmware.

I just ordered the Phantom 3 Standard refurbished for $329. SO PUMPED! It will be my first drone, so let's hope I don't crash it lol. Thanks for all of the drone videos, it has helped tremendously with me deciding if I wanted a drone or not.

Thanks Carson because you are the best at explaining how to do most everything concerning DJI drone stuff. Whenever I go to the app it's almost always a big nightmare. Nothing seems to work like the company says it does. And their explanations are totally either out of date or they just don't work period! Keep up the good work buddy!!

That's really convenient if your drone has uncorrupted firmware. can you tell us how to update the firmware to so the app will fully connect such as it won't if one have bad firmware?

Hey Carson, I'm a new Drone owner - Phantom 3 standard. Your videos have been terrific in helping me get it setup and ready to fly! Tomorrow is launch day! Quick question-I've seen some people that have the micro cable hooked between their phone and the controller. What advantage would there be by doing so and would you recommend it? Dji updates are tricky but you got through it nicely. Sometimes the useless updates will shut down in the 40-50% complete and render your happy flying toy into a 500 dollar paper weight. Lmao. You got to love them Chinese!

I have a quick question 🙋🏽♂️ for ya... …I have a P3S...and I’ve had it for a few years...and...over the years I’ve upgraded my smartphones...now I have the iPhone Xs Max...and...I have used my Xs Max with my P3S...and the last iOS I used with the P3S was...iOS 13...but sense then...I’ve updated to the latest iOS...which is...iOS 14.0.1 ...now my iPhone won’t connect to the P3S...
What could be the problem?
I’ve tried several things...I did the connection process a number of times...I deleted and reinstalled the DJI Go app...I even contacted DJI...and they explained to me...I need a older iPhone to fly a older drone...?🤷🏽♂️? What?!... ...have you heard of such a thing?
By the way...I have the Mavic Mini...and everything works just fine...but...I still like flying my P3S… especially when it’s windy outside...because...the Mini can not take strong winds...like P3S can...if you know of a work around...Please Please Please...help a old man out...😃🤞🏽

Ok, so dumb question...I just got a Phantom 3 4K, and apparently the only way to update the firmware is by your method of wifi, but I also believe I need to register the drone with DJI. So, I just download the Go app onto my tablet, open it and follow the instructions, I hope? Thanks

I've heard of people complaining about various firmware issues with the phantom. Have you experienced any yourself? And did any update fix them?
I've heard that too. I myself have never experienced any firmware issues with my P3 Standard however, I saw on some forums that some people had problems upgrading to 1.7.90. This newer update (1.8.10) that I upgraded to in this video is there to fix that for some people. Although for me since I didn't have any previous problems it just improved my flying experience some:).

The update fixed the connection problem with my LG Stylo 2 (Android) However, during a few flights, the Go App shut down and went into the Registration Mode. It happened during Line Of Site and landed safely.
The Go app thought it was a new drone and logged into DJI.COM which took care of it. My Phantom 3 Advanced is shipping soon.

Hi Carson, always enjoy your videos. Lots of people are unhappy with the DJI Go updates, claiming to have issues after downloading and installing. I haven’t updated mine on my Phantom 3 Standard for at least a year. Should I just keep flying without updating? I don’t think it’s a simple process to install older (more reliable) versions of the app unless you have them saved on a memory card. Thanks
I have a Phantom 3 Advanced, but just recently got a Phantom 3 Standard. I have an issue, My iPhone isn't seeing the WiFi signal from the Controller so I can't access the DJI Go App. Have you had this happen, and more importantly do you know of a fix? Thank for any help you can offer!

The P3 advanced /pro and P4 is updated by putting the relevant file onto the SD card and placing it into the quad, not through the app.
Are you sure? I'm like 98% sure all DJI devices can be updated via the app. It's just suggested in some cases to update via an SD card just to make sure the file doesn't become corrupted when downloading via the app.
Hi Carson, great video. But it said for "Any DJI Drone" but when I go to that DJI GO app, I don't see the Phantom 1. I got this used about 4 years ago in a trade and I personally never used it. So I want to trade it for something but when I put the Battery in I get Constant Beeping and Constant red blinking light. My batteries are full charged and I assume it needs an update. But it's so old, it doesn't have the plug in on the body, it's actually a USB Cable that you pull out from inside. lol So I can't find the DJI 1 on the app, and when I connect the USB to my computer, nothing seems to happen. I figured it would load something or take me to a software update. So do you have any advice on how I can get this firmware updated ? Or is this now just a paperweight? lol Heeeeelp lol
When you turn on the app I have to select my drone every time.. I noticed yours went right to the drone you have... I have to go find mine in the selections.. Standard 3 ..

If you are happy with the firmware that your phantom is on and don't want to update your phantom can you just cancel out the firmware update or do you need to? I heard that you can do that but I'm not sure. I heard that it can not complete the update and possibly have something go wrong. I have the p3s by the way.

Hi, Carson! Please help: my P3S with DJI GO app gives me a headache. The screen does not show ANY camera related buttons or bars! Thus, I can take no pictures or shoot a video. No access to them. Please help!

I would definitely recommend a gimbal guard (I had to mod one for a DJI Phantom 3 in order for it to fit my standard) and a camera guard that keeps the camera in place when transporting!!
I have a DJI Phantom 3 professional. My drone does not use wifi. And Im having a hard time updating. My app does not do the same thing on the video. figures

I am having a problem with the Follow Me mode. Whatever location I go to I always get "weak signal" which doesn't allow me to use the feature. I have gone to many different locations and I always get the same weak signal notification. I called DJI and spoke with the tech and he said to do 3 steps in chronological order 1-firmware update 2-IMU calibration 3-gimbal calibration & compass calibration. I did all three and it still doesn't work?? Any solutions from you please?
So dont you need to download the zipfile firmware on dji website and put it in your sd card and update that way. Can you do all update just through the dji go app?
On my phantom 3 advanced, in the app it shows 3 updates are needed. When I click on the message in the app it just gives me the option of watching a tutorial video on how to update the firmware. There's no "update" to click on to download.

The firrware of my P3S is 1.02.0 ?? So an old firmware my drone flies very well,. A 1 km I still have a good signal, even in my basement I have 7 sattellite. After having seen all the problems that the people had following an update I NEVER DO UPGRADE ........

Have you tried reformatting the SD card? It may be full.

What is in this update?
No problem! One of the biggest things is that this update fixed an issue that some people had when updating to 1.7.90 but besides that, if you didn't have problems with 1.7.90, it has two things that are changed with the update:
1.) Optimized Flight Restriction Zone management by deleting flight restrictions for some abandoned airports.
2.) Slows motor stopping time to three seconds during flight.
"slows motor stopping time" - does it mean that if you pull and hold left stick down, the rotors will stop after 3 seconds? I'm always afraid when I lower the drone, because the stick clicks in at the bottom position so easily... I'd like to avoid unwanted rotor stops
