    Cool Lego kit. I reckon the Concorde was an "proof of concept" for supersonic air travel in the future (albeit very expensive).

      It is a cool kit. Yeah you might be correct and there is a few designs starting to pop up of supersonic transports. I read one of them say something along the lines of: The Concorde is quite old tech, imagine what we can do with modern 21st century tech. Definitely an interesting thought

    A great review with all the history and facts (RE Concorde, LEGO and licencing), a big thank you from the UK, Bristol. This is the only vid you need to watch if you want to buy this set or learn about it. Why oh why doesn't this have more views and likes ? Mine got lost in the post, but LEGO are sending another one ! Can't wait to build it.

      Thank you, appreciate the kind words. The RUclips algorithm can be an interesting thing sometimes. That's annoying, its a great build and terrific model. Have fun with it 👍✈️

    This would have been LEGO's best set of the year if only they had provided livery options for BA and Air France, instead of what they opted for.

      Definitely would have been nice to get those liveries. I however do like the one they did, and it does match very closely to the prototype liveries 👍✈️

    What a really interesting cross over video , just about the coolest ever commercial airliner and one of the coolest "Toys" (Lego is more than just a Toy !) perfect for encouraging todays Youth to ditch the I phone and dump the game station and get really creative . Hours of fun for everyone , sadly the Lego price bracket is starting to get more & more like a ticket on Concorde , Unaffordable ! . 1969 was a really significant Year for aeronautical advancements, first came the 747 Jumbo Jet , then the sleek and lean Concorde , followed by ESSR's Venera Venus missions and topped off with Apollo 11 and the first Moon landing . As an 8 year old boy 1969 was probably the most exciting & exhilarating time there had ever been , great promises for the future were there at our finger tips . Flights to anywhere in the world in hours not days ( if You could afford a ticket and cheaper but slower flights for those with shallower pockets) probes on different Planets ! and Mankind finally made it to the Moon ( I know many dispute it ,though I'm inclined to believe it because the USSR were tracking the mission and if it had been fake, they would have made so much noise about it the Whole World would have heard about it in short order ) . Sadly since the last flight of Concorde the World appears to be going backwards , speed was always the mark of progress , these days it appears that speed is the last thing Govt's desire (unless its in Computing terms ). That doesn't stop both Concorde & Lego Cool . Thanks for the video , they just get more & more interesting . Stay Safe & catch You next time .

      Lego sure is more than a toy, and its always great fun building a new set. I've definitely seen a lot of discussion around the Concorde due to the set, which is nice to see. In regard to price, yes that is a very good analogy. Prices are getting quite pricy and it is definitely is causing a stir in the community. The Concorde set though, even at $300, is quite well priced for a Lego set of this size.
      Wow 1969 sure was a mega year. I hadn't realized that all happened in the same year. That is quite amazing and would have been a very interesting time to have lived through. Very exciting things happening. (Also, I don't know if you follow AFL, but I'm a proud Richmond supporter and they won the premiership that year 😅). But for technology, that marked a big step forward in many ways.
      Speed certainly isn't quite as important in aviation anymore. It's a lot more about flying longer and fitting more cargo in. Thanks, I hope to do more videos likes this. Find an object a tell the history behind it. Stay tuned in the next few months . Until then stay safe👍✈️

      @@AntiqueAirshow Thanks for taking the time to reply to My rather sentimental look back at past times . It was a Really exciting time to be alive , there was a spirit of optimism that was so prevalent it felt like it was just one big Global event to an optimistic and carefree 8 year old , if only that were the case today . I suppose in 50 years or so people will be saying the same thing about the present (or at least I hope so) only yesterday the first sample direct from a meteorite now a billion miles away was returned to earth . We have landers & rovers on the moon & mars and probes that are now beyond our solar system headed out there into deep interstellar space and the deep unknow , and hopefully fairly soon the first human beings will set foot on Mars . genuinely just as exciting as it was then , Maybe we've all just become a bit too jaded and or less naïve . As for the Concorde set , £180.00 is still a lot of money and to be honest that's an awful lot of Petrol , about 5 tanks full on My motorbike or seven weeks commuting , but that's just another Political rant waiting so I'll save you that one . Take care catch |You next time .

      @@richarddixon7276 It is really fascinating to hear and see how it was seen. It will be interesting to see how we reflect on this time period. I would like to agree that it is looked upon favorably, and we do tend to look back on time with rose tinted glasses. I know a lot of people my age already look back on the early 2010s as good, carefree times. Who knows where space exploration will take us next, it might not be long, and we'll all have the ability to fly into the outer edges of space.
      That's very a fair point and will agree it is. Stay safe and see you then 👍✈

      @@AntiqueAirshow Exciting time's ahead , whether things pan out the way they predict ( sadly they seldom do ) is another matter . The predictions back in the late 60's early 70's was for a moon base by 2000! .I still live in hope of seeing that happen and it might yet though not on schedule . We have to remember it's was only 66 years after the first powered flight that Mankind first set foot on the moon, but for Your generation the future is almost boundless.

    • @AntiqueAirshow
      @AntiqueAirshow  Год назад +1

      @@richarddixon7276 It sure is. It seems to me that Mars is a bigger focus than the Moon now, but it will be cool to see a moon base happen. It is amazing how far flight has come in the last century. It will sure be interesting and exciting to see

    The piece of aluminium did not result i in the crash according to the Concorde’s chief pilot Mike bannister, in his book he says how the tanks were overfilled and how the airport had had a recent runway extension which resulted in a bump at part of the runway, the tank exploded here and fuel went to the afterburners

    • @AntiqueAirshow
      @AntiqueAirshow  10 месяцев назад

      That is interesting and quite possible. Makes sense. I haven't read Mike Bannister's book, so can't comment on it. I was just going off what sources I read.

    Very little cost? BA got all 8 of their Concordes for 1GBP!

      As far as I'm aware not all were bought for 1GBP, but a few were. Quite remarkable really.
